You know, your wishful thinking doesn't bother me.

It's the fact that it is directed at a national socialist survivalist group that believes that humans have by right, a superior position over aliens, and try to contribute to their cause by torturing children and relatives, as well as killing admirals and soldiers.

And consider the rachni an inferior race, btw.

Legion is the only thing in terms of enemies that they have ever lied about. For good reasons, too.

They never lied about Legion. It was plain as day he'd be a party member on the day "Enemies of ME2" trailer was released.

I think it is possible that a decision we make in ME3 will turn Cerberus into allies. I cannot imagine them really working for the Reapers, they must have some other agenda. Bioware has already hinted that TIM is very likely not indoctrinated. And they're pro-human, after all, and that means they wish humanity to survive. And that, in turn, means that at some point the Reaper threat must be faced by Cerberus.

So yes, I think it's possible that they become an ally at some time. Likely the decision we can make towards that end will alienate at least one other faction. Probably more.

Mostly because they already said we'd get a geth squaddie named Legion at the start of the marketing campaign. Personally, I would've preferred Legion to take Saren's role upon himself...

The difference between saving the collector base and destroying it I would imagine saving it would only serve to strengthen Cerberus' and thereby the Reapers offensive capabilities as their elite troops taking the place of the collectors.

If the base is gone I reckon Cerberus will not be as effective as the Reapers elite group which may result in fewer casualties.

exactly lol.

if we're fighting cerberus for the first half of the game, but the devs tell us we'll be allies later on that spoils it just like telling us legion was our pal would have spoiled it.

same thing really.

I was hoping he'd do a bit of a "stalking" throughout the actual game rather than off-screen... But there were 50% too many squadmates.

On topic:

Most likely the game will be shoehorning everybody into hostilities with Cerberus through the 1st half of itself, at least. Partially because it will be TIM's choice: to keep Shepard at distance, having planted a trusted agent beside him (which has been hinted at, and I think that agent is Liara).

Towards the end of the game there will be an option to rejoin TIM.

No Cerberus allying = game becomes non-canon for me.

Its also just a video game, a fictional work where one can adopt positions that do not reflect their real life views.

Well, people like Saphra really are nuts but you get my point.

TIM is a National Socialist? Have I been missing something?

Where has it been hinted at that Cerberus have planted a trusted agent beside Shepard?

Well I would like to believe most people that play Mass Effect typically play as if they were Shepard, not just pulling the Renegade interrupt for teh lulz.

I didn't know that either. I'll be sure to raise my right hand up high and yell 'Sieg Heil" the next time I see him though.

I play my Shepards as if I was a fiction writer creating a character for my own story but yeah none of my Renegade decisions are for the "lulz". Even the "troll" choices I do like punching the scientist on Eden Prime and Khalisah have legit role playing reasoning behind them.

Yes. "Rightful" survival and domination of a single race.

Yeah, you do have a point there.
It's nice to side with the bad guys now and then, I just hate when people try to defend them.

Thing is though, when do Cerberus claim that they think that Rachni are inferior? From what I gathered in ME1, they initially seemed to think they were mindless but then realised (albeit when it was too late) that they were intelligent and admitted that they should have treated them like P.O.Ws.

I'd totally pull the much earlier slave market as an argument here, about living conditions not having anything to do with racial equality, but I don't think that "x is an inferior race" by itself is a very well thought out position.

It's also an anti-capitalism and anti-communism movement. Just because Cerberus wants humanity to be the strongest species in the galaxy doesn't make them naz is.

Nope. The ideology promoted The Third Position, you can have the political part without it. Just look at the ideology and how it appeared outside of Germany.
