Well I am trying to play DA:O and not very long into the game my PC will crash without warning (complete shut down) I have a program that is supposed to warn me if it is a GPU heating problem but I am getting no such warning. It should be noted I am running Dragon Age version 1.04 with the Awakening Exp. Installed.
Here are my PC specs

Spoiler

And if that is not enough info here is the DXDiag Report
Spoiler

If anyone has a fix for this I would appreciate it thank you

That sort of thing is almost always a hardware issue. This game is very hard on both GPU and CPU. Your computer may be shutting down to protect your CPU. This is almost certainly not an issue with the game itself beyond the fact that it is stressing your system enough that it is overheating.

Even with the heat protection software I am running ? As I said before I have it to where the fan on the GPU kicks in at 45 C at the lowest and will run full strength at 60 C. Also I have the option for a temp alarm setting to go off at 100 C but I am not getting even the slightest warning either from the fan or alarm. I am running the game on Medium settings at a low resolution to keep the strain on my pc at a minimum >_< any other things I could do to prevent the shutdown? I really wish to play the game again lol OH! also DA2 doesn't seem to do this (just shut down the pc)

I would run something that is checking your CPU temp as well. There are a lot of them. DAO seems to be a bit harder on the CPU than DA2. They seem to have optimized the code some.

100 C is WAY too hot for your GPU. You want it to stay below 60 - 65 C. 100 C is the boiling point of water. 21 C is room temperature. It needs to be turning the fan to high long before it is. You can try to improve the cooling in your case and on your CPU/GPU, or upgrading your GPU. Your are gaming on a non-gaming card. It just isn't up to what you are asking it to do (and repeated overheating will destroy it). You can try lowering the graphical detail and playing for shorter periods of time. There is a nice GPU thread in here by Gorath Alpha if you want to see the what you can expect out of your card.

If your GPU has died from the overheating, see what kind of warranty it had on it, because a GTS 450 should work just fine in this game:

|  Windows 7 64 bit OS
|  RAM 4 Gigs
|  Processor 2.70 GHz Dual-Crore Athlon AMD
|  GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450

Some warranties apply even if you did screw up and let it keep on overheating

Well the prob with that is...I got the pc at a computer show and on top of that I am now living 6 hours away from where I bought it lol so there is no way I will be able to return the GPU >_<

Warranties are manufacturer items, not dealers, so you can get the brand name from the card itself, then look up the warranty online, and see if you can get a return authorization, and if you get it, you mail it to them for them to confirm it doesn't work any more.
