The Batarian state the 'Hegemony' is anti-human but it's also pretty damn anti-batarian. The vast majority of Batarians are forced to live a terrible existence under this regime and I can't blame them for the way they are... the Hegemony's propaganda system keeps them in power by diverting attention away from the real social issues at the heart of their society and towards humans and the citadel races. The vast majority of Batarians are probably no less decent than anybody else just born into such a desperate situation exacerbated by their heinous leadership who have got them banned and isolated from integrating with the rest of the galaxy with no little to no education or prospects of any kind of social mobility.


If the Batarians took back their government I think they have the makings of a council race one day... they're just off to really bad start.

Yeah you have a good point.  The reapers attacking would be a good reason for them to get their society together.  Didnt mean to sterotype batarians.

If the Batarians bring down this regime with a lot of hard work building bridges I think they have the makings of a council race one day... they're just off to really bad start and this could be the first step.

If the humans chose to reconcile our differences by providing the Batarian populace with some food aid, military aid and support [and a shot at a real future in citadel space] I think we could win them over by proving to them that we are not the monsters that they have been led to believe and even a small gesture would be more than the Hegemony ever gave a rats ass.

Who are you to decide what is a "Good society"? The quality of a society can only be rated by those part of it, unless you have 4 eyes, that excludes you.

This is what the US did, going around freeing countries from communism and dictatorship, who are they to decide something in another country. Noone needs to bend to human moral, except humans.

Turkey was ruled by dictatorship during it's becoming of an official country, ask any Turk, 95% will say he way the best leader of the nation, and will likely never be parralled.

But it is pretty clear that citadel laws exists because there really are galactic societal norms that the majority of the galaxy shares because they are universal. If the Batarians are just comic book baddies who love slavery then **** 'em. But if we can build bridges and avert potential war with the Batarians by doing a few good deeds then for the sake of the galaxy I think we should. If we destabilize Batarian space by funding some rebel groups or creating some false flags the whole thing will just implode anyway because that's always the way with closed command economies.

But yes military humanitarian intervention and 'freedom promotion' are can lead to cluster****s like Afganistan and trying to impose human conventions on aliens is racist I agree.

Actually that is a good point. The Vorscha would be indeed useful against husks. I'm thinking the Vorshcha would lay down the husks pretty well with their numbers and regen if given proper direction.

The U.S. did that because it is clearly superior to those nations and we basically wanted to expand (in this case, no land though unfortunately). Ahhh well....eventually we will take it all over anyhow. Look how Americanized most places in the world are....

Those other countries are there to serve and give to their betters. Isnt that the way history has always been?
