But are you not proving them right? By cordoning off an arbitrary selection of words and saying "These words are Bad!", are you not endowing them with power over you? Because you make this distinction, they make you react to them in a way other words don't; they a have power over you that other words don't.Suprez30 wrote...
People that curse tend to focus a lot of energy unto those word. Like it's give them energy and power or worse ... control .
Simple: "curse" words, like any other words, are tools. By using them correctly, I can communicate more effectively.Ask yourself why you should use them . What do you gain by cursing?

You might use them effectively, but generally society looks down and puts a negative stigma on curse words. The censorship is to appease to the masses who think that it is inappropriate to post these words and it avoids controversey.

It's like a teenager driinking alcohol and thinking he's a grown up . No . You're a kid drinking a beverage that require more self control and with which you can become addicted. Ask yourself why you're buying alcohol . It is because you love the taste of it or because you want to be wasted during a party of you want to be 'COOL' and accepted?
It's a matter of perspective and understanding .
Curse word .. You can live without it and you should . So next time you hear the neighbor yelling bad words. Shake your head in disbelief.
Then why are curse words in BW games?

Curse words are censored because we don't want them in our forums. We like to think that our community members are mature enough and educated enough to be able to find non-curse words to express themselves. If you must "curse," please use one of the many made-up curse words found in sci-fi and fantasy fiction, or some other euphemism. Thank you.
I am unaware of these Sci-Fi and Fantasy curse words, may you please demonstrate a few dozen of them so that I might understand the rules better?

So long as the word has no value within popular culture, we can swear?Stanley Woo wrote...

What if a user finds the word insulting?

You're begging the question.
We like to think that our community members are mature enough and educated enough to be able to find non-curse words to express themselves.
There are four issues with that statement:
1: It is not in and of itself a reason to institute a policy of censorship. I could with some effort express my self without using the word "fun". That in and of itself is not a reason for me not to use the word, and it is certainly not a reason to prohibit me from doing so.
2: It is illogical. If you actually though that the community would refrain (for whatever reason) from using these words there would be no point in instituting such a policy. The fact that you have means that you do, in fact, think the community wants to use them.
3: I fail to see how maturity, level of education, and facility for expressing oneself enter into it. Claiming that your side of an argument is somehow more "mature" is merely an ad hominem to which people resort when they have no actual arguments for the point they are trying to make; i.e. the sense in which you are using it constitues a naturalistic fallacy. As for level education, I fail to see how that enters into it; but I feel confindent in saying that mine is probably higher than yours, and I curse when the occasion calls for it. I believe I have shown my facility for expressing myself in this very post, but that same facility is limited by your censorship: words are tools for communicating, and if the proper tools are lacking the product will suffer.
4: Since your writers use curse words in your games, are you saying that they are immature, uneducated, and bad at expressing themselves?

Your rights to freedom of speech only applies to government censorship. As a private business, Bioware has every right to censor us as much as they want, because this forum is their private "property". When you agree to the Terms of Service, you voluntarily give up your rights in exchange for being allowed to use these forums.

Context, context, context.
Games have ratings.
Forums don't.
