I was just browsing through Mass Effect pictures, again, when I just wondered, also again, If Asari do not have ears nor holes of this kind in her head how can they breath? They can be pretty in face and body but their head tentacles kinda bother me.
As a side note, I always see people complaining abou how Jack having no hair and a body completelly full of tats, but I don't recall anyone saying anything about Liara's tentacles and weird neck, and only once about Tali's chicken legs. What do you guys think about that?

I think your kind of all over the place here. Well one, something doesn't have to be morphologically the same as humans to be able to hear. Human ears are shaped that way and are in that position, simply because that's how humans and other mammals evolved. But they could have ears on their back, they could hear through the tentacles or anything else. Second, the same way you say the tentacles bother you, the lack of hair on Jack bothers other people, to each their own right.

It may look odd, but it's hardly unknown. There are hundreds of examples of creatures that don't even have ear-holes but can hear just fine. Whales and other aquatic mammals, amphibians, some insects, etc.

Just for the record I like Liara's character, I just don't really get it why a shaved head is more of a turnoff than tentacles in the head for some people.

Some people just don't like tattoos nor women with shaved heads.  Only thing I can think of actually.

I'd take Jack over those Asari vermin anytime.

I'm pretty sure most of the aliens in mass effect don't have ears. turians, krogans, hanar I don't see any clear "ears" on them.

The Batarians do and those three holes on the Vorcha might be ears.

Asari have ears. (those holes on the side of their heads)

Their ears however are more similar to a reptile's ears than a human's. The Quarians by the way, also seem to have ears that are similar to Asari ears. The phrase used to describe them in the books was "what passes for the Quarian version fo an ear."

You don't see birds, snakes or whales having ears, but they still hear. Use some logic. =/ Just because you don't see something it doesn't mean it's not there.

BW should start an ask Mordin thread Asari are just like other strange creatures we have here on Earth just because you don't see their ears and can't figure out which end has a mouth doesn't mean they lack either. Obviously the Asari can hear and really why do you know spec info on that?

The tentacles are suggestive of hair due to their shape. Recall the bachelor party on Illium where the human thinks they're analogous to hair whereas the turian thinks they're similar to their ridge thing. On the other hand, bald is bald and some people just don't find that attractive.

Another example: Female Zabrak from Star Wars would be equally unattractive to those who don't like baldness because the horns are not not suggestive of hair, shape-wise.
