I'm a female gamer. My love of sci-fi and video games brought me to Mass Effect. I would like to see better male LIs in ME3. As much as I love being femshep, I play more maleshep because I like the romantic paths better. I don't expect more romances in ME3, but maybe a deeper continuation of them. Jenifer Hale does a great job for voice, she really completes the femshep experience for me.
I trust Bioware to make an awesome game so there isn't much more I want in ME3 besides a satisfying end to the series. I'm satisfied with the combat system.

For me, it was FemShep, and the story, that sucked me in. And the asari as a whole. When I first saw Benezia I was all "you've GOT to be kidding", but when I met the asari councilor and Liara, and the other random asari like Mallene Callis, Alestia Iallis, Shiala, Rana Thanoptis, etc., I realized that they were a highly variable species, and I liked that they turned the "blue/green alien babe" trope on its head. But FemShep is what got me through the game enough for me to really engage with the story, so FemShep was the key for me.

Miranda despite ass is superwoman?

I'd say any superwoman is going to have a super ass.

I know this is random, but do you know who has the nicest ass in Mass Effect?

Legion.

I sh*t you not.

Hint that Legion might be LI in ME3?

It's funny, I played the pretty much the whole beginning and then some w/out realizing I could role play as a woman. I completely spaced it at the intro...because...I wasn't expecting to have that option, at all. I just clicked on thru the starting part like yeah, yeah lets go.

I didn't think anything about it until Ash started hitting on my Sheploo. I reloaded and was like wow. I customized my FemShep and waited for the opening scene where we get to see her face and squee...Just being able to customize at all is really cool.

I was burnt on fantasy games and medieval type settings, but I'm not a "shooter" gamer. So, I was very wary of it (the gamestop guy coaxed me into it).

What made me fall in love w/it? The story; the mystery..who are these guys--these Reapers? And why are they doing this? The romantic subplot..I love that. I've never played a game where you could choose that. But then I never played a game where you had a dialogue wheel and choices AND IMPORTING. I've played sum great games (AC2..AC brotherhood was pretty good, liked AC2 better) but never where I get the next installment and it knows what I did in the previous game.

Great voice acting by all the characters because really, when the va suxs it really..breaks the spell. The story, the rich complicated galaxy. I mean, these characters have issues--w/ different species, w/ their own species. And the story puts it forth in such a way that I can understand both sides. It's not a clear judgment that I can draw. No clear good vs bad guys.

They need to put this game out there because I know women will love it. Lure them in w/ the kick butt FemShep and romance. They will then discover the story, and like myself, that they, too luv shooting things up.

I do love the combat. The combat that has a reason. Involves me emotionally. So, a 30 sec ad spot w/ a cinematic montage thing w/ FemShep aimed at the shows w/ the right demographics;.a magazine ad w/ FemShep ashot of her kicking butt--a shot of her w/ the the VS highlighting a romantic involvement....

Something. And it has nothing to do w/ trying to take it over, or feeling superior. It's just a great game and when you really like something, you wanna share it w/ others that may have no idea about it.

I like strong female leads, however when you oversexualize them it goes a little too far IMO.

I've always had a thing for women in power, so yes, I like strong female characters. I find that The Boss from MGS3 is perfect example of a powerful female character. I also enjoy that the female characters of Mass Effect aren't oversexualized (well, at least Miranda is fully-clothed and Jack isn't rocking double-Ds).

They arent? We have Miranda with her perfect body that the camera loves to zoom at, Ashley in a cat suit, Jack with tiny "bra's" and a whole race of blue space babes who everyone in the galaxy likes to bang and who strip in intergalactic bars. i think that's going a little too far...

It's still not as bad as the btatant fanservice in MGS4 but it's getting darn close.

Someone is going to light fire under my ass for this, but I think Bioware is trying TOO hard to appeal to so many audiences, almost to the point where it's unrealistic. I have no problem with badass women, different ethnicities, or homosexuality, but don't make every character have one of these traits. It seems that it's nearly impossible to find characters in Bioware games (as of recent) that don't stand out. If everyone is either oversexualized, badass, homosexual and/or female/mono-gendered, it becomes unbelievable.

and the women are good enough imo. no need to make them feel superior to the guys, tho i doubt there's any women better than my shep.

Well, better to hit up the diversity buffet than to deal with a squad of samey people...  And, hell, the presence of Blue Space Babes negates all possible believability at the get-go, so what the hell?

On women feeling superior: We're not.  Awesomeness and suckage are distributed equally amongst all demographics.

By all means, make sure there is diversity, but do not oversature with new themes. I think when Bioware introduces these kind of character archetypes that they feel they need to get them in as much as the game as possible. Seeing an out of shape person or a simple, shy civilian that assisted in your journey once in a while would be a nice breathe of fresh air. Everyone in ME is either ripped or model status, nothing in between. That is, unless your a volus.

I see your point there.  The in-universe explanation is that they cured teh ebul fatness in the future, but really, they just didn't want to make any more character models than they had to.

I liked Kaidan and Ashley in ME1, though.  They looked pretty plain and acted like normal people.  For ME2, I think, they had way too many awesome character concepts and didn't want to cut any of them (and I'm glad they didn't, even if it did wind up as kind of a mess), but they're going back to a smaller squad in ME3.  Therefore, each character will be allowed to be more subtle and nuanced since they don't have to condense themselves into two missions and three conversations for the sake of being able to fit into the game.

Of course, without giving a character a defining trait you end up with a Jacob who everyone hates because he's boring AND I NEVER USE HIM .:bandit:

Yay, a lady thread.

I get to play as my own gender with massive alien bodyguards and sniper rifles... IN SPACE, with Seth Green as my pilot. What else could top that?
