See? You're not making any sense. Go take before you kill yourself.

Prince is making perfect sense, you completely used the wrong form of your and implied that he is medicine.

I thought his retort was actually quite wonderful.

On the topic of what Prince was discussing before: Unfortunately a chunk of male gamers show absolutely no respect to females that game with them. I've always played multiplayer without mics and without revealing my gender. I don't particularly care to be hit on when all I want to do is play a game. It's sad to say but it's just easier for everyone to assume I'm male than deal with the annoyance. I'd greatly enjoy gaming with fellows like you that just take a player as that, instead of going "OMG WOMANTHING. MUST HIT ON." Long story short, I appreciate your mindset and wish more people could think like that.

Off topic ramble complete: I was through the roof with happiness back in 2007 when I found out I could create a FemShep. BW has come a long way when it comes to giving female PCs more options. I'm a huge Baldur's Gate fan but it's *always* massively grated me that the only option for romance female PCs have in BG2 is arguably one of the more undesireable people in the game, whereas male PCs got two of my favorite characters, and one that I want to punt down a well. :P Granted this is just a ramble of the better LI options for female PCs, but it shows that BW acknowledges the fact that their female audience (or rather, anyone that actually plays as a female PC regardless of gender) is getting bigger.

Admiral Cheez: "And to my fellow XX-chromosomes out there, what initially drew you to Mass Effect? What do you want to see in ME3? And how do you feel the marketing goons should address you and others who haven't picked up the series yet?"

Owl: The RPG element was my intial interest in ME and as I became used to the shooter element I came to enjoy that just as much....was my first real shooter game.

What I want to see?...Deeper RPG and expanded dialog with Squad mates (both friendship and romance) and more diverse LI options.... BW continue leaving gamer choice open to prefered combat styles, whether you prefer long ranged, mid ranged, CQC, or a mix....Personal permanent squad choice.

Marketing goons address me and others?....As a purely manShep gamer, I guess the inclusion of femShep isn't a priority selling point to me, though I am very happy she is available for gamers....the marketing for me would be the push on the RPG element and the continuation story over the 3 games and the ability to customize Shepard...I have already recruited two more female gamers into the fold of ME, due to the selling points I listed above.

I only play femshepard for Renegade playthroughs when my heart isn't really in it but I want to see the renegade content.

Save default shepard for my canon playthroughs/paragon playthroughs because that's how I really think the game should be played.

As a male gamer I have a big respect for female gamers out there, as I got my sister in to computer games and I have the same respect for her as I do to my mother. I don't think she plays Mass Effect though, I know she plays GTA I will have to ask her the next time.

We should tweet the devs. It's the only way to be certain!

This topic has always amused me. While females comprise a large percentage of casual gamers, they are still a very small minority of hardcore gamers; most of which play games like Mass Effect, CoD, GoW, BF etc...

From a general perspective, women (unlike men) do not seem to enjoy games that have a lot of vlolent content. If women did enjoy such games, game developers would have capitalized on it long ago much like they did with males.

Most of them are completely unaware. They are still stuck in the "there are no girl gamers"-mindset.

One of my best female friends(not girlfriend, mind you) is REALLY into the Mass Effect series. She says she loves it for all that it offers: the characters are fantastic, story is top notch, loves combat. Not to mention she also loves that there is an ultra-badass female lead character that isn't super-sexualized(Bayonetta comes to mind...)

That said, I got into the ME series because my friend was playing ME2 and it looked like a cool game. So I borrowed it, loved it, went out and bought ME1 and ME2, and ME has since become my favorite game series of all time and ME2 is my absolute favorite game. Period.

I also just bought her a 1600 points card so she can get up to speed with LotSB and Arrival... :P I'm such a good friend...

Ah, BG2 - where no romance has a happy ending.

C'mon, being with Anomen basically counts as a downer ending. (Edwin romance mod for my evil bhaalspawn anyday. Haha! [evidently snark and mild contempty-turned-grudging-respect makes for good long term romance).

I have to admit, though, it is nice that players of female characters actually have good variety in romance options in later Bioware titles. I hope it is a trend that continues and actually expands significantly beyond Bioware games in future. Heck, being able to play a female character to begin with in a lot of games would be nice.

This is patently untrue. The issue is that it is assumed to be true, by the industry as well as by a lot of players.

LOL you are utterly naive.  Developers have been making violent themed games for DECADES!  And you mean to tell me in all this time, they just happened to be completely unaware that half the human population really wants to play these games but we never knew they existed! Image IPB

You completely underestimate marketing..  Companies are always looking for new markets for their products, and they will search high and low for it believe me.

The people behind marketing would never be so dumb as to not exploit the biggest consumer market of them all, women, since women spend the majority of the wealth in every household..

I wanted to give him a shot since the idea of making him Chaotic Neutral was so appealing to me (as that's what my characters have always been) but... eh... :P I mostly use modded romances when I replay these days (very partial to the Xan romance one for both BG1 and 2 but that one is definitely very bittersweet). Maybe someday I'll bring myself to see his romance through to the end.

Yeah, the industry is just too dumb to notice that the most coveted consumer market of all (women) really wants to spend money on violent themed games, but don't because the industry assumes they won't buy the games and thus don't market to them Image IPB

Do you think those high paid marketing executives with six figure salaries are truly that retarded?

Hope I don't get ripped apart of this..

I don't believe femShep should be used as an example as "female lead" or "strong female character". Shepard is universal to both genders and for the most part player controlled. Everything you can say about femShep you can say about maleShep -- and vice versa. (JMO) Other than that great read and spot on.
