Hey folks. Got a new computer and decided to revisit DA:O and enjoy it in all its graphical splendor. But this time, I want to recreate that epic BG2 feel as much as I can. I ran the game 99% of the time in overhead view because of BG2, but I didn't connect with any of the NPCs I took; alistair was generic, morrigan was forced, and wynne was a little boring.
Anyone have any tips? This time around I'm thinking of going mage PC, leliana (reminds me of imoen), shale (because I dislike alistair), and sten (a sober minsc). But I may swap out sten for wynne so I can have a magic-heavy party.
Recreating the BG2 'feel' as much as possible.

I always mix and match my party depending on the quests, never been into using just the same people when you have a whole party to get to know.
Set up depends on what you enjoy and what classes you like to use. Everyone will have their own take on that.
A little surprised of your comments on the party members as none of them seemed as you described, but to each their own i guess.

If (as you say) you don't connect with any of the NPCs, you might try a solo run.
Personally, I thought the characters were quite interesting. The ambient dialogue gave me some good laughs.
But as the previous poster said, each to their own, I guess.
