Have been clicking away on Sandal trying to get the prophesy and instead he asks for salamanders and Bohdan comments "I think that's where the boom comes from."  So anyone know where he gets the salamanders because I could swear I've never encountered any, or even salamander derivatives, anywhere in  the dragon age universe? Or does he simply mean baby dragons?  Or where Sandal originally came from, were there salamanders?  Can anyone shed any light?

Salamanders, I know, in general esoteric/magical philosophy, are thought to be spirits or being of the element of fire.

So, that's probably the reference, as far as making things go "boom".

If we're talking about mundane little lizards running around (and not spirits), it's possible that they exist in Thedas. Just because we don't see them doesn't mean they aren't there. I mean, there are a lot of cheese wheels in Kirkwall, and yet not a single cow or goat.

Of course, salamanders could mean Darkspawn. They are vaguely reptilian. And Sandal seems to have a knack for making them go "boom," to a degree. Posted Image

........because he is an OGB? an archdemon reborn? part dragon??

So he wants more of his kin for what? A salamander army? A wallop-mallet team? To form a giant salamander robot? Posted Image

He's a shapeshifting salamander and your former student, remember? He wants more salamanders for the same reason you wanted Morrigan.

Bears who would like to know how to shapeshift into gorillas would do well to not divulge secrets.

Pure speculation and fluff, I say!

This blasphemy alone, plus the glaring lack of dwarven women, is not something I will soon forget, or easily forgive. <_<

Yeah, salamanders do represent the element of fire.

Fire: salamanders
Water: sylphs
Earth: gnomes
Air: sprites

But I more just thought he wanted to eat a salamander, because he seems like he would.

Sandal always asks for salamanders in my games, and in my headcanon, Hawke always gives them to him. He doesn't care where the boom comes from. He just wants Sandal to be happy. Yes, he's probably an enabler and spoiling Sandal rotten, but he doesn't care. The kid has had a hard life and deserves a little innocent fun.

Exactly. Sandal is just asking for a snack.

The "boom" that Bodahn speaks of is flatulence, not enchantment.

I love that he's the one you automatically accuse of swinging on the chandelier. Not one of your crazy friends.

And you know he really is the one doing it, when you're out of the house.

I could be wrong, but I could swear that if Hawke is romancing Merrill, the elf mage is the one blamed for the chandelier escapades.

Now, Sandal is known to put his finger in the soup. But maybe he was just sampling.

I hate the way his dad keeps telling him they'll go home some day even after he tells you that they're not going back to Ferelden.

I guess it depends on when the next game is set, but it's not clear that he'd live long enough to return, nor that he'd take Sandal with him even if he did go back.

Romance Merrill. Then she starts swinging on the chandelier.

I wouldn't even let her in my house as a friend, much less a romantic interest. She can keep that HERE BE DEMONS t-shirt on, thank you very much.

Besides, I don't really think Sandal wants to share. :-)

In Legacy, if you've romanced Merrill, there's a comment about Sandal talking Merrill into the chandelier swinging, and some how during the escapade the wardrobe fell over the railing.

HES NOT AS INNOCENT AS HE SEEMS :P

Sandal is trolling us he only pretends to be a mentally addled dwarf he is really a seer hiding his powers.
Or perhaps he is addled from Being a seer some of those types get pretty odd.
I suspect the lyrium.
