I've been playing as a dwarf noble who, on the night before his exile, has a one night affair with a female dwarf named Mardy. From that encounter a son is born.
When the dwarf returns to Orzammer as a Warden, Mardy pleads with him to do what he can to make sure his son will have a decent life. Since the Warden is an exile, he must look to either Bhelen or Harrowmont to adopt the child to accomplish this. The Warden supports Harrowmont's claim to the throne. True to his promise, once he is proclaimed King of Orzammer Harrowmont formally adopts the child into the royal family. Mardy is overjoyed when she hears the news.
However, when I go into the journal of completed quests I find an entry in the "Of Noble Birth" quest that states that the Warden has failed to give his son a chance at a decent life.
I don't understand why the entry reads that way. The child is now a member of the royal family and therefore (in Mardy's words) "a noble," so what more was the Warden supposed to do?
Is there some part of this quest that I missed doing?
son's chance at a decent life

This may be a journal glitch. There are a few of these, including how one deals with Connor in Redcliffe.

It works if you choose Bhelen I remember lol
Its definetly one of those weird glitchy quests. ive had it come up incomplete and failure on non-dwarves when entering Orzamaar.

Sorry I am so slow to respond here.
Yes, it must just be a journal entry error. I have noticed in other playthroughs that that quest would be logged as failed -- even when I was not playing a dwarf and had no encounter at all with Mardy.
It made me wonder in those earlier games if there was some side quest in Anvil of the Void that I had missed, because it was logged as failed the moment I completed that section of the game and left the Deep Roads.
But appears to be just a glitch.

I have a theory about the glitch as its only ever come up on me for non-dwarf characters AFTER I made a Dwarf Noble character once. I thing it improperly flags across your games.
Which was still strange as ive made 1 Dwarf Noble and she was female but i did talk to mardy.
