10.   Having your L.I. in the field allows you to show your Loyalty & Devotion under fire ! 
         L.I.  " I COULD have taken that mech out all by myself you know !"   Shepard: " Yes - I know..."



9.    My Lover sets up Great Finishing Moves on the Enemy.  
        Shepard:  " You know.... we make a Great Team ! "



8.     My Lover TOTALLY DISTRACTED the Enemy
        LI:  "Drat...the gate is guarded...how will we get in ?" 
        Shepard:  " Just walk by...! "     LI:    " What ? "   Shepard: " Just pretend you're on the make..."
        LI:  " Well..okay....( saunters by the guard seductively...)  
       Guard:  "Damn - will you look at that ass...."     Shepard:   POW ! 



7.    Having my Love Interest nearby reminds me what I'm fighting for !

9.         Love Interest as Battlefield Hazard...

8.          Having your Love Interest nearby leads to Daydreaming....
              Shepard:   "...And then we'll have a castle on Eden Prime..."  
              L.I.:  " Let's get a Varren ! "
              Shepard:  " .....Aww....Yes !   And then we'll...."


7.       Having your Love Interest along can be Not Fun ! 
          ( Chained up together in a Batarian prison )   L.I.:   " Did you HAVE to Bring me HERE ? "  



6.          Your Love Interest...... Distracts You ! 
             L.I. " Shepard we've got to....Are you Admiring my Ass / Chest ? "  
             Shepard:  " Umm........ Yes ! "

1.         BAD THINGS DO HAPPEN ! 
             He dies, She dies, EVERYBODY DIES....  ( Critical Mission Failure )  ( EPIC FAIL ! )

10. To keep an eye on your LI to protect them. Of course, if it goes bad, you watch them die
9. Few things motivate people to win than their loved ones. Many things however, can cripple them, their LI's death being one of them.
8. Options. Whether motivated to close them for your LI, or to find an opportunity to open up some for Shepard. Both still make you a meanie
7. Bonding time. Nothing to say I love you than putting hypervelocity rounds into enemy spines. Until you accidentally shoot your LI & they complain about your aim.
6. If you're going to be with a teammate most missions, may as well be someone you're not sick of listening to. Unless you get sick of them by the end
5. Nothing helps end an argument faster than a near death experience. And nothing starts one faster than a near death instance where one of you messed up.

Garrus: DAMN IT SHEPARD ENOUGH WITH MY FACE.

I'll take the time to point out there is a reason the American Military doesn't allow relationships within the ranks, it leads to a conflict of interests. You worry constantly about the other person, it's only human.

That being said, I wish there were moments that if your LI was in combat with you, they would yell at each other, as AdmiralCheez suggested.

one: the alliance military is NOT the american military. thankfully.
two: the Human Systems Alliance is NOT the United States of America. again thankfully.

The Alliance capital is the Arcturus Station in the Arcturus system so the Alliance isnt even a continuation of the USofA.

so your "point" is entirely irrelevant.

we dont precisely know what the fraternization regulations are for the Alliance military.
