I don't think i used a good 90% of the stuff you get. And this is in my late 20s post-playthrough.
Legacy's items could be a little bit better.....

There are some gems there, too.
Though I agree that the bonuses sometimes seemed a bit weird. Perhaps if you compare to the base game, without dlc. But then again if you're buying Legacy, chances are you already have some other, also.
Another point is that you can play Legacy at any time, so you don't necessarily have all the act 2/3 goodies.

Like Sabotin mentioned you don't have to wait for higher levels. I like doing Legacy at the end of Act 1 so you can bring Carver or Bethany. Lots of items you get are great for most of the game, but any items are gonna have a hard time stacking up against end-game elite gear setups. There are some great ones though, such as Eye of Blue.
I feel like Legacy is comparable to any other quests really, just a lot bigger. You see some bad items, some medium, maybe usable items. And 1 or 2 real gems.

I'm just annoyed that my rogue archer Hawke got a dagger key.....why didn't he get a bow?

If he has dual weapon skills, he will get a dagger. If he has archery skills he will get a bow. If he has neither, IDK.

Neither defaults to dagger.

Actually, you can take Carver/Bethany with you no matter when you do Legacy. Only reason I know that is because I do it usually at the beginning/middle of Act 2 and I still get the option to bring them along. As for the actual topic at hand. I wouldnt know about the warrior set of GW armor seeing as how I've hated playing warrior since it essentially got neutered with the last patch. (Just my opinion).
The Rogue set is ok....Not great, but it's ok. There's definately better out there. I personally dont use it because I use the DLC Rogue armor set. The Mage set I would absolutely be agreeable with (As an Act 2 set of armor) if it werent for the fact that the stealth component involved with it is currently bugged atm. Once they fix that, I'd go so far as to say I could use it as a set of armor for a solo mage.
The actual items, some folks will find them useful, others wont. I personally agree with the OP in that I didnt find most of them very useful. Even Hawke's Key. Imo, the stats arent that great on it. The enchantments arent that great on it (except for armor penetration imo) and it just overall looks butt-frickin' ugly. (Except for the Mage staff. But again, that's just me.) I was honestly hoping that Hawke's Key was going to be a "levels with user" kind of weapon. But unfortunately, it wasnt.

I played Legacy post-DA2, but brought Bethany along.
Someone mentioned on a different post that Bioware probably didn't want the Legacy items to be too impressive as that would reduce the value of the item packs.
While the warrior armor set wasn't much better than the champion armor set, I like the overall look with the helmet and cape. The key weapon was a disappointment, mainly for the lack of rune slots, and I already had the lyrium rune in my regular weapon. The lack of the speed buff was noticeable.
I did like the story though. The items...lacking statwise. My two handed warrior still prefers The Empress' Point.

Yep. I had no archer or dual weld skills. I ended up reloading my game and buying a Maker's Sigh from the emporium. I put a point into archery, got the bow key, and then used to Maker's Sigh to get my Hawke back to his original skill set.

hm I thought alot of the Legacy items were pretty snazzy. Only shame is the key and warden armour don't evolve, so quickly get stuck in my storage.

My ONLY complaint with the items in Legacy are the character specific items, the ones from the item packs were all evolving... why weren't the fiveish new ones too? They feel like they should.

I agree; I wish it would have leveled up like the item pack #1 DLC stuff did. Also, if there could have been companion-specific items as well, that would have been nice (aside from Varric's). I can't remember if there's a sibling-specific item - I'm thinking yes...it's been a little while since I've played Legacy.
Oh well, at least there's new item DLC coming out tomorrow, right?

If the Legacy items were better than the item pack items, then there would be less demand for it. If Bioware wants people to buy the item packs, then those items must be better than the items found elsewhere. That's why I doubt future story-driven dlc like Legacy will be much different in terms of item quality compared to what's in the item packs, which are all about the items.
The warrior armor set does look nice though. I'm currently playing a rogue and I'll have to see if I like their armor better than the champion set.
