It's perhaps already been said but I'll say it again anyway. I personally think that Mages should have a "passive" spell that alows them to open locks (at the very least) like Rogues. Mages in D&D get "open lock" spells (yes I know this isnt D&D but it still fits in the universe and isnt lore breaking really) so why not in DA? Just use either Mag or Will as the same way Cun does for the Rogue's skill. Maybe not allow them to "disarm" traps so as to still allow Rogues some distinctfulness. But atleast allow Mages to open locks on doors and chests.
I believe this was in DAO original code, but failed to get installed into the released game for whatever reason. This is supposedly what the Bash Lock mod is based upon; Str for Warriors, and Mgc for Mages.
Personally, since class distinction was mentioned, I would now leave it at Cunning; the Rogue's specialty. I would like it to be open for anyone that invested the pts into Cunning, as it would impede some of the optimizd class builds.

As far as defending the devs and stating they are "not trying to trick players out of money" $5.99 Weapon pack with weapons that are USELESS in the end game and gear you can not even put on companions SAYS HI!
Seriously? NOW who's drank too much kool-aid? You must be high lol
That's not the point. The point is that you said the weapons are useless in end game. Which in fact, is complete and utter nonsense. The only way it's even halfway true is if you finish the game anything under level 23-24.

End of story, they are going to make DA the way they want, and they openly admit to "stripping" out features of RPG gameplay.
Game. Set. Match. Talking head Action Games sell more than RPGs, Bioware is going that way, nothing anyone can do about it.

I'm talking about Blizzard's single players. MMO's aren't comparable, and the same cave wasn't used throughout WoW.
Of course. Instead they reused enemy designs, entire raid dungeons, and the entire premise of the game is based around performing the same task over and over on different mobs. We're clearly much better off.

DA 2 isn't anywhere near the breadth WoW is. There is plenty of variety to hold people over. Although, I'm not a huge fan of WoW, I haven't played in over 2 years....I can assure you the same cave was not used throught the game.

Gee I wonder where Bioware got that idea from for DA2 to re-use zones, and then PRETEND TO BE SHOCKED when poeple complained. It must be a total accident that it's a cut and paste from WoW

Not to mention that their single player games are the same thing over and over and over again. Hell, the "right" way to play Diablo 2 is to have a friend rush your character to hell mode and then do chaos runs over and over and over again as you soak up experience from higher level characters doing all the work.

Diablo had some resues, but it again was not the same cave througout the game. Many of the caves had dark designs, but they were def different, w different maps.

They got the idea from the fact that they didn't have time to create a lot of new areas. Their choice was to re-use assets in an extreme manner or drastically cut content from the game.

Diablo is a hack'n'slash game that delivered quite well to its base. If it didn't float your boat that's fine, but they delivered to a lot of people.

correct, and that business model was pioneered by Blizzard. Blizzard took Everquest and said "hmm if we repurpose everything, we can do 10x the "content" for 1/10th the cost of EQ" And it worked.Zanallen wrote...

EQ was hand crafted content, everything was original and unique. Way too expansive, WoW pioneered the generic Instanced content model and boom Mega Millions.

Diablo 3 doesn't even bother to hide it with an action for RL $$.

I replayed ME1, because there was a furor over the generic & what we called recycled areas for side quests then... but what DA2 did was several levels of ridiculous above that.
Those worlds were positively hand-crafted masterpieces compared to DA2's environments. I cannot and do not understand how that happened.

Well that's what I meant. We're comparing it to DA 2 who reused the exact same cave through the game.

I know, I'm just saying even Diablo with it's reuses still wasn't as bad as DA 2.

Conspiracy theory OR there is no "conspiracy" about commenting on a Devs/Prods interviews where they openly expressed surprise by many of the reactions.
A "conspiracy" would be if I said GW Bush had some secret dealings with BW. Saying BW re-used environments as an idea copied from WoW is not any sort of secret revelation, it's like saying Pepsi followed Coke's model.
But yes, anyone who finds any fault whatsoever with DA2 is a tin foil hat wearing crazy
