I don't know if it has been discussed anywhere but why does she always make that *checking my hand watch* gesture?

Because WHAT DATE IS IT!? WHAT YEAR!!??!?!?!?

Duh.

:P

More evidence?

Flemeth's movements mimic Andraste's campaign. First Ferelden, then across the Waking Sea.

If Flemeth is Andraste, how come her ashes can be found?

Regarding evidence - do we really know that Flemeth's first appearance was in Fereldan, or is that based on her appearances in the games thus far? Does that take into account her ability to be in multiple places at once?

Regarding her ashes - if she were Andraste, or Andraste was her, the ashes are from the fireplace in her hut. Nothing more. Well, maybe a bit of lyrium and dragon spit to make them sparkle.

I don't know. My problem with both Morrigan and Flemeth is that a lot about what they say about themselves can arguably be a lie given their deceitful personalities and questionable sanity and only sources outside of them are the various (and possibly conflicting) fairy tales told by various in game cultures. It frustrates me thinking that in both DA games I don't think I got one fact I could verify about Flemeth or Morrigan's nature or past.

They're shapeshifters. They know much more about the workings of the universe than most. Flemeth is incredibly old and is somehow and somewhat known by the Dalish as something-other-than-who-she-seems. I don't know that either are deceitful by nature, or rather, by intent, but they speak from the sides of their mouths - everything is at an angle, off-center from how most people view things.

And that's pretty much the crux, and while that can be frustrating, I personally find it exciting. It's a puzzle and a riddle and a tangled knot on the string that's pulling me through the games. We get a little kernel with each game - just enough to whet the appetite. I'm holding out for a big feast at the very end.

I can understand someone finding the mystique exciting, but my problem is that we know very little outside of them being shape shifters that isn't vague or clouded by other contradictory sources. I don't mind mystique itself and found their characters interesting (and frustrating at times), but there needs to be something to back it up. Right now, I just see much of anything that backs up their reputations or place of importance within the games.

Maybe this is the optimist in me creeping out (which I may regret, who knows), but I'm holding on to the hope that we'll get that "something" to back it up. Depending on how long the series winds up being, it may be in little chunks.

And yeah, I may wind up being disappointed, and I'll probably spend at least an hour huddled in the fetal position, sobbing and drinking myself into a stupor (or not), but that's ok. I'll reconcile that. Image IPB

Yeah, I'm still a bit hopeful too.  Though I'm hoping it's answered (or we're given enough of it) in DA3 or I'm not bothering with the rest.  Frankly Flemeth was the Duncan of DA2.  Usless and treated as someone of more importance than they actually are.

maybe Flemeth was someone close to Andraste, though? Some advisor or something like that. When Andraste died, plans got messed up, and Flemeth is trying to fix them. Just a thought.

I think Flemeth is far older than Andraste's timeline. It's quite likely that she made her presence known to Andraste though and had some involvement in her life. But probably in the same "forceful nudge" sense that she has represented in the lives of both the Warden and Hawke. Pushing people into place.

Though, I wonder if Andraste's gift of prophecy was not actually her own. Maybe she was speaking for/on behalf of Flemeth, though I don't take Flemeth to be touting the Maker's story. Perhaps Andraste skewed some things, or misinterpretted them - added her own spin.

Keepers: holders of the secrets! They would have little or no reason to tell any but their apprentices who Flemeth truly was. p.s, i only read the first couple comments :D
