This is my first time playing Dragon Age, and up until today, I was loving every bit of it.
And then I hit the Fade.
See, I'm a rogue and, not knowing I could have weapon sets until after I hit the Fade, am armed only with a goddamn bow. Wouldn't be a problem if I had my companions with me... But, as you probably know, I don't. And I'm getting ripped a new hole for it. Right now, I'm stuck in the Darkspawn place, and the Hurlocks are tearing me apart... Any tips on how to get through this whole ordeal, or have I royally derped myself over?

I've done the Fade as an archer; you can totally get through it. Just really make good use of the shapeshifts. I actually tend to spend much of my time in the Fade in shapeshifted form --usually the Burning Man, as soon as I learn it. Couple of questions, though: (1) do you have any helpful items like bombs on you, or can you make some? It's not like you can't make it without them, but they can help; and (2) are you a Dwarf?

I'm an elf, have a few acid flasks and the sort on me. I actually just swallowed my pride and changed the difficulty to casual, which seems to be helping. Thanks for the tips, though! =]

Okay, since you're an elf, you can make use of the lyrium veins that are planted around there. These will completely restore your health and stamina when you activate them. (I was a Dwarf on my first trip though the Fade, and Dwarves are immune to lyrium, so I couldn't make use of that particular aid). But the shapeshifts are definitely your friends in the Fade. I like to travel in the Burning Man because that means I won't get unexpectedly burned by fire barriers or traps or anything (and it also has the two area-of-effect fire spells), but you'll find some areas or enemies call for the Golem or the Spirit instead --or both, as I find in the case of Ukthiel the Crusher.

And yes, there is always the option to switch difficulties. I was an archer on my 4th playthrough, so I had a pretty good handle on what to expect and didn't need to adjust the difficulty in order to get through the Fade, but if it had been my first playthrough I might have. :)

Good luck! The Fade isn't quite as bad as people make it out to be, and there are of course all those handy stat boosts. Make sure to collect them all! :D

Burning Man is particularly handy in the mage section due to their tendency to use fire spells on you.

I hated the spirit form, even though it looked really awsum.
