Reputation by race and your actions,if you are a half orc,no that human village will not let you in!,the npcs wont talk too you except too say go away and guards will run you off!
Undead...all those villagers will produce torches and the priest will come out too help!
Kill a npc?...ok see the barons castle, those guys will send out patrols looking for you ,your wanted poster will appear in towns with a bounty!
Subraces that actually mean something on the server, rather than being a new shiny skin with a few stat boosts,so if you do actually meet a lich, vampire,ye rusty old saw...its unusual and scary...and if you are playing one...its difficult!...with the relevant drawbacks in that setting.

Getting back too the CAP server,9fires had the best ever quests I have seen.
low lvl,go find chalice stolen by goblins...ho hum you think, nope, theres 3 or more ways too get it,then when you return 3 choices when handing in the quest[hand it over=xp and gp/say you couldnt find it and keep it for the once per day=xp/say you killed them but its lost ,destroyed-gp],but each of those choice led too 3 differant new quests with the same divurgance of paths with a subsaquent effect on your standing with the church, village etc...amazing stuff!

Weapons that are integral too you,not throw away my family heirloom as soon as a new shiny appears, one that grows with you and your char choices influence that.

good monster AI!, and random spawns having a chnce too surprise you.

traps and locks for rogues, stuff that you need differant chars too access, like doors that need too be sung open and stuff. So that one guy cant grind too 40 and solo it once per day!

Bosses with the chance of random reinforcements...eg:ohoh,looks like the giant king was having a feast today!

Id say from looking at it,have a look at ffbj,s stuff too,and amethyst dragons and have good look at the custom forum for ideas.

Well its late here,so thats my 2gp for the moment!...others feel free too chip in!

That's a good list.
I know the Thay PW has a pretty good reputation system.  Lots of features are tied into it (faction advancement, PrC's, etc).  It's partially based on race.  Elves receive a lot less notoriety than humans, for example.  They're also more likely to be attacked by slavers.
NPC's are pretty much universally hostile to lycans.  The sun kills vampires.
Those sorts of touches are always nice.

In all, it's a good system.

I've always been interested in the Thayan server based on the fact that the rp is praised highly, but I'm put off by the fact that it's based in Thay. I don't particularly feel myself suited to evil characters, and find a lot of 'evil' PCs mind-numbingly boring 'Chaotic Stupid' types.

That said...maybe you can change my mind?

I would also love to see a PW RP server that takes place in our world during the Rennaisance Period. It would be fantastic if the primary countries involved would be Europe, the so-called Middle East, Asia, and Africa, but being logistically improbable it's far more likely it would confined to Europe, likely even just a few key places like Spain, France, England, and the Papal States for instance.
It would be historical roleplay with one big difference...magic would exist. 'Artes Magicae' would be prohibited by The Church (as it was in real life) but it would be a very real thing. A lot of political rp with heavily ambiguous morals but accommodating enough that the playerbase would not need a degree in history to play and appreciate it.

I'm in the process of building (+2yrs so far) a late 15th century Bohemian PW based on books written (not yet published but posted on Deviant Art) by a friend of mine. It's a historically accurate  alternate reality where magic exists but is frowned upon by the church. All the major cities are built, still working on quests.
Here's a link to my friend's books on Deviant Art if anyone is interested.

Bansidhe,

I've been screaming for a Malazan server for ages. The only problem is the magic system is so different, to do it right would take an overhaul like the WoT servers do.

And archer has been driving herself bats trying to make my world NWN playable forever too. But yeah, my series is set in 16th century Central and Eastern Europe. From Bohemia to Transylvania. ;) With occasional jaunts elsewhere. And yes, alchemy you can probably get away with in most places. But outright 'sorcery'? Oh dear. Be ready for the Inquisition.

That would be a cool setting, seriously, where magic was rather weak, surely the church would have to be limited too, just as mages would be restricted.....

Custom spell system are always a pain in the rump, whoosh!

I'm a constant player on the Pirate Isles of the Forgotten Realms server, and while it has several great and innovative features (ie. underwater areas which you need Rings of Water Breathing to survive in, holy symbols dedicated to various gods and with various god-related powers, Rebuke Undead for Evil clerics, and so on), one thing I'd like to see on that server or any other server is a system for naval combat...ship-to-ship, hand-to-hand (for boarding attempts) and ship-to-creature (ie. a fleet of ships versus a kraken). D&D 3.X has the fixings for naval combat, so how hard would it be to translate Hull Points and such into NWN?

Failing that, I'd settle for the ability to pilot a ship around, provided you have PCs or NPCs to man the sails, work the anchor's capstan, get up in the crow's nest and increase the view radius, keep any ballistas or catapults loaded and ready, and such-and-such.

Also, an actual d20 Modern server would be nice. We have two Star Wars servers and one Modern Zombie Survival server, but I'm talking about d20 Modern as the techno-magical setting that it is. "The arcanist is casting Magic Missile at me? My Dwarf Daredevil has his hunting rifle out! Let's see if I can beat this guy to the punch. Hey, Joe! Has your Half-Elf Infiltrator finished cracking that retina scanner yet?"

Well, not to be a killjoy. But having seen a few attempts to do that sort of thing in the NWN engine, I would say doing it for ONE character in a SP mod is hard enough. But to make a script and system that could allow for dozens of potential objects and taking into account all their potential actions? :pinched: The game's graphics just aren't up to that. The closest you'd ever see is something like in The Aielund Saga. Which was a neat scene, but not real ship-to-ship combat like in Age of Sail.

Anything in the Forgotten Realms for sure, with full lore and related NPCs, regions, coin system, etc.

So in other words...you want something different than the dozen or so FR servers currently available in PW RP? Not trolling, just genuinely curious.

If I am correct, you would like an FR-based server that used coins from, say, Waterdeep that are different than the golden lions of Corymr, while able to interact with famous npcs? And ideally you could travel from Mithral Hall to Baldur's Gate, or even Thay?

I think the only way such a thing would work is with interconnected modules which brings up my next point...

I wonder what it would be like if all the current canonical FR servers somehow joined into one massive super-server. You like Cormyr? Then start a character on Forgotten Realms Cormyr. You grow interested in truly seeing the world? Then hop to a transition for Tales of the Silver Marches. A DM-quest leads you to Thay? Well then, time to suit up for the Thayan server.

Impossible? Well no but certainly improbable, which is why I wrote it in 'servers I would love to see' instead of 'servers I am likely to see.' A man can dream.

I've never tried ED though I loved Mechwarrior rpg and Battletech many moons ago.

But yes, I would love to see a huge, sprawling Forgotten Realms where people from multiple servers could interact. Had I any way to make it so I would.

Then the alternative is to handle it like the spaceships on the Star Wars: Rise of the Rebellion server, where one player takes the helm as the commander and handles the entire vessel, and it's assumed that the vessel has a full crew of NPCs to keep it working.  It's really the only explanation for how a high-ranking Imperial or Alliance player can commandeer a Star Destroyer or a Mon Calamari Cruiser on that server and take part in space combat.  Other Friendly players can dock with that commandeered capital ship and board it, but they just hang out on a separate map with the ship's interior until they can leave or get booted out (ie. the capital ship lands on a planet or attempts to board an enemy capital ship; in the former, the characters go to the planet's surface, while in the latter, the characters go to another map with the enemy ship's interior and duke it out with the defending player-characters and NPCs in mixed PvP/PvE.  Think "the opening scene from Star Wars IV: A New Hope."  It's kind of like that.).

The spaceships on that server have various functions like Divert Power to Engines (for faster speed at the cost of lower shields and Armor class), Divert Power to Shields (vice-versa), Fire Primary Weapon, Fire Secondary Weapon and a rotary option for opening a communication channel with nearby planets or other vessels.  I imagine that a seaborne battle between sailships would have similar functions (like Full Sails, Half Sails, Strike Sails and Man the Oars, Drop Anchor, Weigh Anchor, Man the Ballistas and, if the battle takes a turn for the hopeless, you call it quits and Abandon Ship) or would gain speed when sailing with the wind, lose speed and eventually stop and drift backwards when sailing against the wind, and so on.

That's your only standard?  Heck, try any server with "Zombie Survival" in the name.  Or if you want a more personal touch from the DM team, Prisoners of the Mist hands out permadeath in spades.
