If you search the Web, you can find lots of information on experience points- yet all wrong, I think. Everything thread I've read said you, you're active party, and the ones back home not used, receive experience points for a quest completed, whether everyone is dead or alive, period.
I know if I die, I don't get the experience points for that quest. I'm wondering if my active companions, if dead, get anything; plus, being all dead, do they cause me to receive less points when awarded?
I was doing the last of 'Forbidden Knowledge' quest, read the last tome, and xpwglmrbeck, a reverant, 34 rage demons, and 92 abominations attacked. I survived. The other 3 companions died. I received 750 points for all that. Huh??
Anyone know?

I received 730 points (lvl 21). All four survived to the end.

The web can be soooooo untrue. It say's you get 750 + 1000. That'a pretty tough fight for just 750 points!!

Your level doesn't affect experience gains. I also am pretty certain death does not affect them either.
The amount of experience you earn is not really correlated to the difficulty of the encounter. Which is fine. Experience is hardly a reward. The game difficulty ramps up significantly as you level up. A low level party can beat Nightmare with ease.
As for Forbidden Knowledge, 1000 is received for completion of the quest. Isn't that received before the fight? The information is correct.

Sarchasm, there prolly were only 4- along with all the other big boy's. 
I was just saying that the type and number of enemies, I felt, dictated more experience points. In one of the quests at the bone pit mine I think, in one of the caves, I defeated 2 spiders and received 335 points. It just seemed odd.
