So, after upgrading my PC, I decided to buy DA:2 and give it a go on the PC, but I'm having a hard time getting used to the different controls. Xbox I thought was cool cause I could keep hitting A to attack, I felt more involved. However here I'm finding that all I can do is click and let it work, and there are times when it won't register that I actually clicked on someone to attack them. Is this a normal part of a learning curve, or is something screwy going on here?

Spam "R", it's the "A" button for PC. At least as far as combat goes.

redo the key bindings, move everything closer to the wasd, simplify the all group button.
dont forget to look up the mods now available to you like weapon swap and companion armor

Click to turn? Do you mean like turn around?
You don't have to click to do that, just turn the camera around while holding "W", you control the camera by holding down the right mouse button "RMB". Incidentally that's also how you control who the controlled character targets while you're spamming "R". It will target the enemy closest to you centric to your field of view.

That's what I mean, gotta hold a button to turn. Not used to it. Is there any way to edit that button? I'd like to make it something other than R if at all possible.

Sometimes targeting specific enemies with the mouse is a bit dodgy. You may need to pause, hover the mouse over the enemy you want to target. Zooming out can help too.
Aoe targeting can be very dodgy too. I don't know if it's better on console but if you try to target a spell next to an enemy (when there's a loose group, 2 here 2 there) the targeting circle will jump to the enemy which leads to more mouse hovering.
R button will target the nearest enemy. Once the enemy is targeted Hawke will auto attack until it is dead or you change target. Handy when fighting trash mobs. I usually use it until I want to target a specific higher threat enemy or drop an aoe spell/ability.
If you need/want to change the key bindings you can do this in the options menu and customise it to your liking.

yeah console is smoother as there is no locking mechanic attached to it. it will target the enemy you are targeting but after that it is completely smooth.
sometimes you have to turn the enhanced targeting off/on to get a better area set. it seems the enhanced targeting is perm on at times though.

Even with the enhanced targeting switched off it still tries to lock onto an enemy most of the time (or does for me). Not cool when you miscalculate and target a fireball directly on an enemy that then pissbolts straight at you

yeah, you just have to take your time with it.
if its not behaving, toggle it the other way. tends to free it a little
another trick would be to slowly drag it to the area from another direction.

Like a 5 year old in the lolly aisle at the supermarket lack of patience is a big issue for me. Ah well, it give people something to giggle at.
Amazing work with the bestiary btw. I'm in awe that you would take that on.
