If you could eliminated any game series from existence, which one would it be?

Ok but why is a jrpg not an rpg or a subgenre?

An rpg is where you roleplay a character either through leveling or with choice and consequences.

JRPG is NOT a subgenre.

JRPG's are just Japanese style games with lot of stats, loot and equipment that may or may not have role playing.

Not a genre.

I know I i typed it wrong. I meant

Why does everyone BSN seem to consider jrpg's inferior to western rpgs or people seem to consider them not "real rpg's". Which is bs a game is either an rpg or not there are no degree's of rpg. There can be rpg like mechanics like say in Hard Reset, a shooter where you can level up some weapons and stuff but it's still a shooter.

Dragon Quest 7, Chrono Trigger, Tactics Ogre hell jrps usually have more fun gameplay then western rpgs. While yes the story can be bad but like any western rpg there are good as well as bad games.

There aren't any game series I hate enough to wish to disappear (mainly because I can, you know, choose not to platy them?) but I had to pick one, it'd be a no-brainer:

Bloody Counter-Strike! (Either one, 1.6 or Source)

The whole "culture" that sprang up around that game is one of the most loathsome and contemptible things I've ever encountered.

Kane and Lynch. Every time IO makes one of those terrible games its a time they're not using to make a Hitman game.

@Mesina2

jRPG is a japanese [RPG] seems simple enough to me that it's an RPG just like a wRPG is. The only thing debatable imho is whether it's classed as japanese in where it's been developed or theme/style of gameplay. Mesina you better have a million years worth of debating history with what is and is not a RPG before claim it is or is not an RPG because noone has managed to convince everyone else what aspect specifically makes something an RPG.

I like the definition of (j) being where is was originated as opposed to a theme because it's more clear, definable and specific than aspects within each different title. A jRPG to me isn't something that has just anime, it's not something to me that because has vast loot or large amounts of statistics or numbers/lvls. To me a western RPG originated/developed and released first in the west and japanese RPG is one that originated/developed and released first in Japan.

I happen to buy as many jRPG as wRPG, I like both and I find some jRPGs far superior to wRPG and vice versa.

After all these replies I have read from you whether about Sci-Fi, jRPG or wRPG and so on seems to me all your doing is trying to cause arguments.

I came in to say CoD, but I suppose it does keep the little tykes away from adult games. So I guess my second choice would be... I dunno, Dynasty Warriors?

I'd have to say the Rayman series and Assassin's Creed series. I didn't like either one personally and the fact that they were made has removed resources from a game that I do want to see come out from Ubisoft....Beyond Good and Evil 2 ^_^

No worries. Ubi will murder Assasin's Creed soon enough.

I would have to say the Tomb Raider series due to the fact that, in a sense, it caused the end of the Legacy of Kain series.
I say this because after the release of Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Crystal Dynamics stated that they would no longer be working on the LoK series as they wanted to focus on the Tomb Raider games.
So the way I see it, if it wasn't for Tomb Raider we might still be seeing new Legacy of Kain games.
I still hold onto the hope that someday we will get another game in the series though.

That's what most people think but they stopped making LoK because it didn't reallly sell well compared to their other games.

I remember reading an interview with Crystal Dynamics in a video game magazine where they said the LoK team was going to be focusing mostly on Tomb Raider and no longer on LoK. Not sure which magazine I was subscribed to at the time. Possibly Next Gen?

May I ask why?
@AxeCobl That doesn't mean that they dumped LoK for Tomb Raider. It wasn't generating enough sales so they abandoned that project and moved staff onto other things. I agree it was a stupid decision since LoK has a huge cult following(including myself) but there has been some rumours based what people from CD have said that another LoK game could be possible in the future.

I disagree.
Over the years Pokemon has added more mechanics to allow for more customization. Where some Bioware games choose to reduce them.

I'll add From Dust. Why the hell does a XBLA game ported to a PC NEED a Intel Core i7 920 2.66 Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 3.00 Ghz?

That is seriously the system requirements.
