If CDPR can do it - they are soon releasing an overhaul to TW2 - why can'y BioWare do the same with the hugely criticized DA2?
CDRP  seem to recognise the loyalty of their customers who buy their games in good faith (because let's face it, it's a gamble) and they also seem to be committed to providing a quality product, and if the product is not quality, then they fix it.
If there is one game that deserves this same treatment, it is DA2.

So why is BioWare refusing to do the right thing?

It isn't that simple. Dragon Age 2 is a cross platform game. A simple patch wouldn't be enough to fix the game and a large patch couldn't be distributed on console. So, they would have to put the patch on a disc and then would need to find some way to distribute the disc to everyone who bought the game for consoles. The cost of such a thing would be ridiculous and it would reap no profits. Sure, it would give Bioware some good will, but the logistics are just not workable.

Really? Then how does that small Polish company manage to make it workable?

'Cause the game is PC only and thus the patch can be downloaded? Thus no real overhead for materials or distribution?

Nothing but excuses.
The necessary changes can be delivered in little chunks small enough for console download.

I don't think that is how it works...

Also, I don't know for sure, but I have heard that companies have to pay some amount to Microsoft and Sony to use their system for patches and DLC.

Cause lots of people like it the way it is, and a good part of the people who don't won't care about an "enhanced" patch unless the patch turns it into Origins 2.0.

Signed. I'm hoping that "Exalted March", if it indeed exists, will be that expansion.

"do the right thing" is really subjective. As PresidentCowboy said, lots of folks think the game is fine as is. It may not be perfect, but I for one found it solid, immersive and enjoyable. I don't mind small patches to fix some glitches, but I don't think an overhaul is necessary.

Just my opinion though.

Yes anything that is pushed out over  XBL or PSN  from a Third Party dev there is a charge to them from the  Sony and Microsoft  plus it also has to meet approval  as well.

On the reason I  can guess that Capcom has took  the route of the re-release budgeted  Ultimate and Super Verison of the  MVC  3 and  SF 4.

Are you saying TW2 sucked so badly on release that CDPR needed to completely overhaul it to please their fans?

This is just another PR stunt from CDPR. There is nothing wrong with TW2 to require an overhaul of any kind.

The only thing CDPR needs to fix in TW2 is the horrbile voice acting, inventory system and unresponsive controlls.

If it is I hope 'burn the chantry to the ground and burn the priesthood at the stake' is an option :P, and yes I mean the entire sadistic power structure, every priest, every templar.

Actually, for the English version at least they have to fix the lip synch, which was terrible, and the controls need work too.

Don't remind me of the lip synch, just ugh.

I'd really rather they work on new content than worry about overhauling a six month old game for a dubious subsection of fans with so much deep seated and hysterical animosity towards the game that it would be overwhelmingly unlikely that any amount of patches would do anything to budge their opinion.

Let's face it -- even if some sort of mythical unicorn patch were pushed through by divine intervention, you would turn to complaining about how long it took to release and that Bioware was incompetent for selling you a "paid alpha test". You want to hate the game, so just grab your dick and enjoy yourself instead of pretending otherwise.

Who says they didn't? Patch 1.03 Pc/1.02 Console not only fixed bugs but went after balance issues etc.

I'm wondering what else people want? Races? Not going to happen as it'll never work with the existing story and they'd have to rebuild the game from the bottom up, which costs money. Inventory modification might be possible, but not at the level Bioware's been talking about (ie I've seen several mentions of overhaul and loving attention). Combat balance has already been modified by recent patch so what else is there?

I bought DA2 in good faith, and for all of its flaws, I enjoyed it.  The right thing in my opinion would be a few tweaks, not a complete overhaul.  I don't see how an overhaul would be the right thing to do for those of us who enjoyed it, unless we're not "true fans."

Considering how large the game is, I'm not sure if I'd call such an adjustment to animation a patch, but the controls really need an overhaul. No potions while in combat? Not allowing for click via mouse for combat options. And some serious rebalancing at the begining....If they can do that in patches, great.

What I find interesting is the overhaul comes after the annoucement of the console version, or did they cancel that?
