... and someone else was cynical about it.

But in all seriousness, the big news for today, as denoted by the current thread title, is the second round of voting on FemShep's appearance.

That's "news" for every day.

Actual news? "FemShep appearance poll v.2 - now choose hair colour for nb.5 femShep!" And rather nice video about "be better than commander Shepard". That's all.

I think if there was an achievement to play femshep then we'd have more than 17% of people playing her. Cause as of now, I know those like 10,000 votes hardly any actually play femshep. Equal shepard love for all!

Would that not just really cheapen the whole concept of having the choice of male or female? If playing as a female character is alone enough to earn an achievement then what on earth would that say about the state of the games industry?

That they actually appreciate females? Enough to give us an achievement at least.

They wouldn't though, they'd be doing purely for the achievement. It'd be insultingly sexist.

I disagree. I think it'd give more exposure. But that's your cup of tea. Agree to disagree?

EDIT: Albiet an achievement just for playing through as a gender may be a little silly. Maybe playing all three as either male or female shep. As in seperate achievements.

Why should they make an achievement for people that just chose a different gender? That's just stupid.

It'd be like giving achievements for Infiltrators if they pick shotguns in their loadouts.

There could be an achievement for completing the game once as a male and once as a female. It would get achievement/trophy ****s to play through twice.

Hmmm... Now that could work. Everyone would get an achievement but the players who did both would be extra rewarded by having an additional achievement.

I'm a trophy **** when it comes to games I like a lot, but I don't wanna play as a Fem Shep, so I hope Bioware won't listen to you :P

Other people don't wanna play on Insanity and yet they might want the trophy. You have to work for some things - that's why they're called achievements. :P

Well, they've had other achievements that are no less arbitrary.

If the female Sheperd was physically inferior to the male Sheperd and had a harder time earning respect from her crew and people she encountered, then I could see an achievement being appropriate. Being that they are equal in every way -- no. What's next on the Affirmative Achievement agenda? Black or Asian Sheperd achievements?

I agree with the guy who said it cheapens the choice.

They could always do the Dragon Age - achievements for each love interest to encourage multiple playthroughs with variability.

"Witch Gone Wild"

Thats right - either you grow a vagina and romance Kaidan or go gay if you want all achievements.

Which is exactly why I do not have all achievements in DA.  I am only missing a few of the romance ones, but I cannot bear yet another 80 playthrough just to get them.
