No one is denying it, so I'd say they will do it.

One might also think for an annoucnement of this magnitude, we might send Casey to Cologne to make it instead of him staying here in Edmonton to work on the game.

Actually, one would think you would have Ray Muzyka to announce something like this considering he was the one to announce Kinect implementation at E3 :P

Nonsense Crimson. Insulting you would be me saying something like "You are obviously too self enamoured to think that we will change years of corporate communication simply because you feel you are not being messaged correctly, you blue eared baboon."

I would never insult you like that. I just wouldn't.

Instead, we use the same response we have used for years and hope that fans understand.

headdesks several times

Chris.....the "response you used for years" and the "years of corporate communications" lead to the dragon age legends fiasco.

just saying.

Sometimes it's a good thing to try something new.

I realize you aren't responsible for how all of marketing goes down, but I don't think the marketing department realizes how much we do not want multiplayer. Announcing multiplayer like it's a good thing would be like someone calling you up and telling you that they just wrecked your car like it's a good thing.

Well regardless if there is or isn't multiplayer I am going to face this situation like I did with AC:Brotherhood which is buying a game specifically for the purpose of a certain aspect. What I mean was I bought AC:Brotherhood solely for the multiplayer (never bought any other AC games for story aspect at all) and so I will buy ME3 for sole purpose of the story. The multiplayer mode, if there is any which in all honesty I pray to God there isn't, would only be an add plus.
For me I much rather have a fun little surprise like a co-op mission of some sort but only if it blends in with the story. I can't see them just tacking something like this on with no purpose behind it. If there is multiplayer in ME3 there should be a reasonable explanation behind it that fits the story other wise keep it away from the story or make it very different from the actual game itself. (It would have to be different at this point since I don't see how it would run with the current game functions, so in otherwords it would be almost an entirely different game)

Interesting. German is my native language and the original article actually quotes the official gamescon convention shedule for journalists were, apparently, "ME3 with multiplayer" is noted.

BW still denies it.

I really hope it's not true as well. That would really be a low blow. Damn it. The sp campaign for the last entry in the series needs *every* scrap of resources it can get.

I have honestly got no idea what to think about these rumours anymore. I get that they are good advertising for the game, but it is beginning to grate on my nerves, and I'm only just barely following details on the game in order to remain somewhat onspoiled.

I can totally see an online mutliplayer componant being involved at this point, as much as I may not particularly want to, but for the life of me I can't fully understand why. The franchise isn't going anywhere and it's a big risk to take with the final game of a trilogy; one dodgy aspect can tarnish an otherwise great game, and possibly even the games that preceded it in a roundabout way. Not to mention the question of where the money would have been spent otherwise.

However this is all baseless untill Gamescom, so whatever, come at me BroWare.

So, will they either confirm/deny for sure tomorrow? I have a feeling BW is going to drag this out. Despite all the rumors swirling, I still say it's just a publicity stunt.

We do not know what MP there will be but take for example Neverwinter Nights, Dawn of War 2 and Portal 2. Three AAA games with a brilliant MP element that does not detract from the single player but actually enhance the single player campaign. In Neverwinter Nights, a Bioware game, you could adventure with your friends, transfering the Dungeon to your PC. In Dawn of War 2, in addition to the hectic multiplayer you could play co-op during the main missions, which for me enhanced the experience. In Portal 2 the MP was tied into the SP brilliantly while offering several hour of intelligent fun for me and a friend. In addition I have heard that the MP of Gears of War is actually really good, without making the main game more whiny than usual (MARIA!!!).

Without a clear picture, we can not objectively judge whether the possible addition of MP will detract from the game. It could, turning the SP campaign into the length of MW2 but then again you and 1-2 friends could have fun with scien........guns.

PS Special call out goes to Section 8 Prejudice.

Oh yes, and if this turns out to be true, I hope you guys remember this:

The multiplayer did nothing but take away from the game and is generally regarded as a flop.

It was obvious that multiplayer would be revealed after those "rumors" a few days ago. Originally, I believed that all of this 'multiplayer talk' was indeed just rumors, but when they came out with full information on how and when it would be revealed a few days ago I realized that this was real.

i thought bioshock 2 was a flop because the story was bad compared to the first one? and that the atmosphere was pretty much the same thing all over again.
when i heard about complaints from the game no one mentions multiplayer lol

They could always make a multiplayer game in the Mass Effect universe after the Shepard trilogy is finished. A co-op modus does not improve the game in any way, but adds costs and development time. Develpoment time that Bioware truly needs, when we look at Dragon Age 2...
I'm also not so sure if a co-op modus doesn't mean that the game has to be simplified to less dialog and more combat.

If they do multiplayer, I recommend they follow in the path of Uncharted! 10 player online, in medium size maps. Everyone has there starting weapons, and "power weapons" are laid out throughout the map. Also, a seige mode would be awesome. or even something like horde mode from Gears of War.

The multiplayer was developed by an entirely different company, and if memory serves, the SP was developed by different people that the first one. Not a good example.

It's arguable that the mediocre execution of the story is owed to the crowbared in mp-mode of Bioshock 2.

I don't want to spam the forums with pictures so I will just leave this here. The only good one so far has been AC:B and that's because it was literally AC 2 with new content. If they would have had to actually create a new game then it would have been a trainwreck.
