Whats the point? I give up with Bioware if this is true.

yeah, im gonna overreact and "give up" on them too without seeing any details about it too.

i mean, actually seeing the details and how it works? my god, what do they think i am? a reasonable human being? NO! the mere fact it exists is an insult to all us glorious RPG bioware fans!

****** off, I said IF IT'S TRUE. Di*khead.

so you're gonna freak out and ragequit if multiplayer exists without even looking at what the multiplayer is?

No, but I wont give a damn about the multiplayer, I dont want to pay to listen to 14 year old kids sing down a mic, team kill each other, ect.. I will lose alot of respect that I have for Bioware though, they dont need multiplayer. This is the last game in the trilogy, put the resources to better use, more side quests, fix bugs, ect. If it's in the next Mass effect game It wouldn't bother me, but I dont see why ME3 needs it.

I think you're slightly prejudiced against the MP community. True, some MP gamers are douches, but there are plenty of alright people who play TF2, Halo and even *gasp* CoD!

I mostly get stuck with douches, yes. But I do love playing the Left 4 dead games when I can get a good team together.

So just play with a few friends if you want to play, or not at all if you don't. Simple.

I would, but sadly most of my friends dont play the same games as me. They're COD fans, and thats about it, they dont seem to play anything else, lol.

What is also rumored, is not multiplayer at all, but a 3 player squad based mission segment parallel to the main story that has been confused as multiplayer. Tommorrows announcement can be found here starting tommorrow morning.

So the article is pure speculation based on a magazine cover that was talking about the same unconfirmed rumours that have been meandering around the internet for months?

Seems legit...

Its not speculation, it seems Bioware (or our evil chris) wants to keep the huge bomb kept till tommorrow.

Its the official press announcement from gamescom. I doubt Electronic Arts will spread rumors, believe it or not, its official ;)

Singleplayer will be alot shorter because of MP. The time creating MP could be spent on making SP even better.
Mass Effect trilogy doesn't need multiplayer.

Not if they have a different team then time won't be wasted

[You're assuming that you're required to play the Multiplayer if its there.

I've played games with multiplayer where i only went into Single Player and finished the entire game by myself.

this is flat out wrong.

single player and multiplayer are almost always done by different development teams. why would writers, or side quest designers be working on multiplayer which is outside of their speciality?

this fear is only due to people not understanding how game development works.

again, the worst that will happen is that there will be a half-assed tacked on mutiplayer and the main game is fine. best? it'll be a pretty cool multiplayer feature.

i'm 100% positive it will not effect singleplayer in any significant negative way

on a side note, i feel bad for priestly having to do damage control.

Gamescom is saying that they got some of the information from the internet and from their research, so it might not be official at all. But of course it can still be true

Kinect Gimmicks - Check
Multiplayer - (Apparently) Check

Whats next?

So basically this delay it would seem (imho) was purely to add those two things? Should of just released the single player RPG without delaying to add those EA features.

Do you honestly think Mass Effect 3 has enough development time to create a multiplayer that was never in any previous games?

If the multiplayer is in, it will use up precious storage space that could have otherwise been used for more singleplayer content.
If the multiplayer is in, I will personally be disappointed. I have no interest in having a multiplayer option in the Mass Effect trilogy. That said, I will still purchase the game because I believe it will be well done and I want to see how the story concludes. I just won't be quite as pleased with my purchase. Image IPB

Hudson already confirmed - twice - that there wouldn't be any multiplayer, and I find it funny that they would have suddenly changed their minds.

"Lets start crying about the possibility of multiplayer based on rumors because it *might* make Single Player shorter!"

At least wait for them to release their official statement before complaining, i doubt they'll change their minds about multiplayer if they have already decided to implement it in the first place.

multiple development teams. its not really a hard solution.
so we got all the dudes working on the story, the characters, the writing, the missions, the side missions, ect.
then they hire another team to create the multiplayer. having no effect on the single player developers work.

But by delaying they SP devs have more time to work on the game so it is a good thing.

Ok, Bioware Edmonton develops Mass Effect.

Now, imagine Bioware Montreal develops the MP component seperately.

Problem solved?

[/quote]

Developing multiplayer costs money... Lets say it costs $1million for some guy in mars to do that work which bioware contract to dev it.

Well despite what anyone tells you (or what bioware will try to claim)  that is $1million that could have went into extra single player testing, development of better textures, better animations etc etc

Paying for multiplayer, that the vast majority of the fan base do not want, does effect the quality of the single player game.

That money could have been extra levels, better textures, a better PC port, dx11 support, less bugs or any number of things

So, just wait and see what is announced during Gamescom. I shall return to see your reactions after it is all over.

From this, you make it sound as if Gamescom is the be-all, end-all for multiplayer rumors. So it's either going to be announced... or denied outright. If it isn't confirmed, these rumors will persist, but I suppose not commenting on it leaves the new-comers who would like multiplayer hopeful. So from a marketing standpoint, denying multiplayer wouldn't be beneficial.

I have to say, IF multiplayer can be done right, IF the single-player experience hasn't suffered (like Casey said it did when they previously tried implementing MP), then maybe I'd consider this a good thing. I still don't know how the class system will work in MP. Maybe we won't be playing Shepard. Maybe it'll be Alliance vs. Cerberus. There are a good few ways I can imagine MP ending up like. If ME3 has it, then hopefully it'll be a nice little feature, but not  a main selling point. -sigh- I suppose regardless of the status of MP being in or out, we'll need an online-access code like the Cerberus Network and/or Dead Space 2's online code? :?

I do like this idea, however. I like this a LOT... as long as it doesn't end up like Halo 3: ODST did, then this would be a really cool feature.

Also, as to the concerns of disk space, I'm pretty sure the MP could be placed on a separate disk if not integrated into the campaign.

wrong... that money could have been spent on hiring more testers or a team to create any number of new single player features
