Wait for the damn official statements before whining like pups. I take the word of Priestly and Hudson before a translated magazine and Xbox World or whatever that thing is, for now at least.

He never said "there will be absolutely no multiplayer of any kind in ME3". So no, he never lied. Did he dodged and smartly manouvered the questions? Maybe :P

Your still not getting me man. If the single player is already planned out and finished there's nothing more to add. They dont need the extra budget. The budget would be extended specifically FOR multiplayer.

There is always more can add to single player, thats what expansions and DLC are. With extra time they could be part of the retail game instead of nickle and dime afterwards or spending that time with gimmicks like Kinect and (rumour) of multiplayer if was a reality.

You know, I don't really care one way or the other about MP, but I am getting really tired of the argument of "Money spent on multi ruins the single player game!"

Just stop already. Jeez!

Edit. They're building a game, not a house. I don't see how pouring more money into game development automatically equals more stuff.

There is no multiplayer. I don't believe it one bit and neither should any of you. I only believe what Casey Hudson says. If he hasn't said there's multiplayer then there isn't any.

The only problem with this is Priestly said pre-ME2 ''If you think Garrus is archangel, you will be dissapointed'' lol. He likes to toy with us! Lol.

People need to understand that multiplayer can be added without affecting single player. If the single player experience is finished and good, you can add multiplayer features and the single player experience will be the same. I'm seeing alot of "everything spent on multiplayer is money that could've been spent on single player" well you are seeing it the wrong way.

Its not money is being put into multiplayer instead of single player, its just BioWare is spending more money. I have no idea how much it is to make a game but for example, instead of BioWare spending 2 million on the game, their spending 3 million.

If the budget is increased they could have used the increased budget on single player

Instead of spening 2 million on single player and 1 million on multi player they could have just spent 3 million on single player.

The more likely scenario is that they planned to spend 2 millions  on single player for the start, because 2 million was enough to do all that they needed to do. Adding an extra million onto that won't change a thing.

If bioware can use $2million produce a flawless single player experience on PC, Xbox and PS3 and all reviewers and fans give it 10 out of 10 then you would be right.

However in the real world no software product is perfect.

For instance ME2 was not perfect and if they got extra budget to develop it they could have used it to

* add more exploration
* add more cutomization for the companions
* have something more interesting than the crappy loading screens
* have something more interesting than the mining mini game
* add layer of the shadow broker as part of the main game
* add overlord as part of the main game
* add a whole host of new weapons
* add high res textures for PC
* add DX11 support

or

they could have added a multplayer

There IS a trade off

It will be fun when by installing ME3 with Multi....a window will pop-up saying

Thats exactly what I was thinking! Multiplayer gives them the perfect excuse to make Origin mandatory for ME3.

Smells like an EA move to me.

@Chris - We both know CH didnt travel to Germany to announce multiplayer for his own safety. He will announce it from a large screen on the stage thats surrounded by riot-police. Poor Casey will be in a nuclear bunker somewhere praying the fans calm down before Dec 21 2012.

Ill be praying for him!Image IPB

That ain't how it works.

Multiplayer costs money to implement. If it would be in, EA would have to give them extra money to produce it. If the multiplayers not in, Bioware would get the money for it. It's like if I gave you money for a trip, you told me you were going a little bit furhter and needed any extra fifty, I gave you the fifty extra, then you changed your mind about the extra distance and wanted to keep the fifty. You don't need the money anymore, why would I let you keep it?

You have proof they don't have the resources

It's common sense, even something as an anticipated as ME3 is going to have a data limit put on it

Links and Unless 100% of the people came out and said this I can believe they mean the opposite

Casey is the head developer of this project, if HE says multiplayer cannot work, multiplayer cannot work. While he has been crpytic about it, any tech expert would tell you that the ME system is just NOT designed for multiplayer. As for links, give me 5 and I can get them uploaded.

Honestly, is it THAT hard for people to just wait until they make an ME multiplayer system that was... you know, DESIGNED for multiplayer? Multiplayer needs a much bigger lore, combat and interaction system than the current Mass Effect system can currently offer, especially with the types of possibilities one could have with such a multiplayer system, eg. playing as other races.

dumping extra cash into single player can only do so much. you could dump another 5 million into the ME3 development and its going to start having deminishing returns on what gets produced, since you can only do so much.

No, that's not the point. You askd why people hate multiplayer: I'm telling you why.

Even if it was at the ridiculous end of dimishing marginal returns, you still see real aggregate returns on that investment. If you hate MP but love SP, any dollar on MP is a dollar you subsidize (through your purchase) that you will never get back.

I'm honestly fine with pure gameplay only MP (like capture the flag or whatever) because that's MP I could get into and play. And I'm fine with no MP and a pure SP game.

But I really dislike Co-Op, so I hope that isn't it.

but i dont really know. its not something im worried about. you can imagine a ton of "worst case scienarios" if you like, but even being as big of a cynic as i am, i'll remain cautiously optimistic until i have actual reasons not to be.

Eh, I don't care how it's done. I'm too invested in Shepard's story. Once Bioware removes Shepard, then whether I stay as a guaranteed pre-order or wait for reviews depends on how ME3 handles that MP content.

Not if every single power homes in automatically on every enemy.

Then people would camp like little beetches in corners as power casters and just spam Warp and Incinerate.
