I've been using Leliana as a mage-killer this playthrough.  Part of my strategy is to have her fire an Arrow of Slaying at that class of enemy.

So I have been keeping a close eye on when she fires the Arrow of Slaying, just to see how effective the tactic is.  What surprised me was that in addition to the mages I expected to her to target (genlock and hurlock emissaries) a number of other enemies also have been targeted as mages:  shrieks, ogres, and certain types of possessed corpses.

Who knew?  Well, certainly not me.  I certainly did not think ogres were in that class.

You can buy a specific type of arrow that affects mages. I dont think Arrow of Slaying specifically targets mages-it can target anyone.

I assume he's referring to having set up his tactics to have Leliana fire an arrow of slaying at mages. And I've had issues with the tactics in DA:O misidentifying things as mages as well.

Yes, I have it set:

Condition: Nearest visible mage

Action: Fire Arrow of Slaying

It just surprised me that the mage class included enemies I hadn't thought of as mages.

I belive one of the hidden variables is it considered ranged and mage. Like a archer or something

I sort of understand the possessed corpses. Some of them appear to throw spells of some sort. The shrieks I suppose might possess some sort of magic. But the ogres...that surprised me.

Could be some hidden variable, as you say though.

Might wanna put the mage tactic over another that just does elite to even things out, or lowest armor.

Want some tips look at my sig for archers.
