Hi,

kinda stuck in a quest between the Grand Oak and the Hermit in the Brecilian forest. I have to give the Oak an acorn which the hermit has. I already traded the hermit something and now the only option I have is money and he doesn't want that. I need to get either the oak or the hermit to help me in this quest and the only option I have left is to kill one of them. And that is far beyond me at this point. I can get them half way through their HP at best, but at that point my last character is just about to meet his maker. It's just impossible.

Sooo am I missing something here?

Also. The people in the Dalish camp don't really want to talk to me. Cammen needs this (were)wolf pelt, of which I have hundreds but he just tells me to go away. I get no option to give him the pelt.

The storekeep doesn't want to trade with me. Calls me a scoundrel.

Did you run around stealing from people? Heh that would do it.

Come back later and fight one the hermit or the oak. Next time be nicer!

I just took what's in the crates. No one responded to that so I figured it was fine.

Guess the Dalish quest is broken for now, coming back later looks to be the only option.

Examine the tree stump near the hermit and choose the first option, the Hermit will attack you but you'll get the acorn out of it.

I'll see if running away is an option. Thanks for the pointer. I did try the stump at one point, but never managed to kill the hermit so I gave up on that.

You can go to another area and come back when you leveled up enough.

If you have the acorn already it won't let you fight him as making him hostile involves stealing it from the stump.

Like is said in The Angry One's post. Look in the tree stump. The Hermit will be angry if you continue. Choose the option to reach into it and he and his lackeys will come at you.

You can also tell Cammen's prospective GF that Cam only wants to sleep with her. At the end of that I think Cammen will give you a ring ("was gonne giv it to muh luv but now i dun wanna see this thing again"), which you can trade for the acorn.

Ok, running away was no option. The hermit and his elementals kill my party before halfway through the forest. I'll try WeeRLegion's option.

I had little trouble with the Hermit really, what you do is Force Field the Hermit then kill his demons quick. From there 4 of you beating on him should work, keep knocking him down and stunning him. My party was sword + shield warrior (me), Morrigan, Shale and Leliana.

Odd that you've pissed off the Dalish so much. I certainly opened chests and whatnot, and it didn't cause any issues. (I didn't pickpocket anyone, mind you.)

I slept with Cammen in order to "educate him". then convinced Ghena(or w/e her name is) to marry him as an aprentice. Lastly, I killed the hermit for the acorn.

I traded a scarf, from that werewolf, for the acorn. No harm done to anyone.

As soon as someone called that thing a Poet Tree, I had to end its existence.

Edit: Well OK. First I had to facepaalm, then let out a MASSIVE sigh, THEN end its existence.

i believe there is a book you can acquire from the elves from someone aswell for the acorn, might be part of that quest with the young lovers... strange how i seem to be the only person who didn't sleep with either of them... :S

Ah well I just finished the Dalish quest by trading the acorn for the book from Cammens quest. I couldn't kill the Hermit at level 7. Shale is a character I have yet to meet.

Are you a human character? My husband was a human noble and being that the Dalish are very suspicious of humans you'll get a lot of racism. I played as a Dalish elf and as a Dwarf, so I never had problems with them.

Trust me I looted all their chests and boxes, and they were still cool with me, it's the human thing. My husband kept saying, "Well, I'm a noble human." like that meant something. Humans are humans to them.

I sided with the Oak, because I'm a nature lover, and I hate people. Seems like the Dalish character suits me.

I killed the hermit. People like that either need to be tranquilized or removed.

Funny guy, though.

*Misread part of that.  I basically zerged him down, but I had Mana Clash and Alistair to burn him up a bit.
