to tell you that I am not English-speaking, I am from Hellas, so be gentle if I
will make some mistakes.
I wanted to create a thread about Dragon Age Universe and how we can help Bioware improves
it by giving them our ideas and suggestions from the most major to the most
minor detail. Every idea you have and you really think that this idea will help
you play the game better or enjoy the game better is welcome. You don't have to
agree or disagree with anyone. It's a thread about ideas and suggestions. Also,
for anyone who wants to suggest something, it will be better to give a detailed
explanation and how it could be improved.
So here I go.
Difficulty:
I like the balance on each difficulty level in Dragon Age 2, especially after
the release of 1.03 patch (1.02 for consoles). One thing I would like from you
to do better is the reward for each difficulty level. What I mean is, the
player who choose to play a harder level will be rewarded better. If, for
example, I choose to play the game in nightmare, then I am going to get the
best reward of the game. Rewards such as, more epic loots, or "this item
drops only in nightmare", and this sort of things. Now, my suggestions
specifically are: A) The harder the difficulty, the better the loot,
or hard enemies to change the strategy they fights. The harder the difficulty,
more complicated fights. C) You can use some unique enemies and even bosses,
only for the player who plays at higher level. It will be awesome and fun. D)
It would be nice to see an achievement about the difficulty. You did it in Mass
Effect, so why not in Dragon Age? An achievement which it unlocks only if you
beat the game in nightmare.
Persistent Gore: This feature of the series is something "must", as you and the
ads show us at least. So if you think that this is something "must"
for the franchise, then do it well. I don't say that I don't like it at all as
it is now, but I am sure you can improve it with a little fantasy. For example,
stop using this static blood. It's blood. It's something liquid. It can't be
static. Can you do the blood to roll over my face or my armor? It will be far
better and more realistic. Also it will be nice to see different types of
blood. Like the darkspawn, the lore says that their blood is corrupted if I am
not mistaken. So can't you change it a little, so their blood to be a little
different from other species? More darken than the normal blood or something
like this?
Numbers: A minor but exciting request from me. I like when I do critical damage, everyone likes them
damage? Something more noticeable from the normal damage?
Hide Helmet: Nice option, but please improve it. How? To be able to toggle helmets
in and out of cutscenes.
Macros: Yes I know, Dragon Age isn't MMO and believe me I am glad it's not. But a type of
macro commands like "/nearestenemy taunt" for the main character
exclusively or even for the controlled party member would be welcome. So after
we create the macro, to be able to drag it to quickbar as a skill. With this
way it will decrease the number we pause the game without decreasing the
tactical experience (I believe).
Subtitles: I always wondered why the subtitles has to be at the top of the screen only? Why not at the
bottom? Or put an option like top/bottom. It's a pain when you have to play on
1080p, 40" tv, on pc (which means near to the screen), and you have to
look all the time up.
Auto-Screenshots: Really, why did you remove such a nice option?
Concept Arts: Many gamers really enjoy to watch concept arts from video games. Myself
included. It will be great if you put some in to the game, as unlockables, and
as you progress ingame to unlock some of them. Then you can go to Main Manu and
watch them. Or you can put them into the Codex, like in Mass Effect.
Quickbar: I think that the quickbar of Dragon Age: Origins was better than Dragon Age 2. I
mean in beautifulness. But really, I didn't have any problem with the quickbar
of Dragon Age 2. The only thing I would like is to be more manageable. For
example, I want to be able to drag some things, like the party member avatars,
and put them where I want on screen.
AOE: In Origins and DA2, it's a pain to point AOE and you know it. I don't believe that
nobody in the development team didn't have any problem with this, at least
once. I am not a Gameplay Programmer to suggest you how to fix it, but it
really needs a fix.
Shoulders-Earrings: It's nice to change the shoulders, right? So, instead of putting them as a part
of chest, why don't you put them separate? Like hands, and legs... Another
thing I would like is earrings. Why don't you put earrings in the game? A lot
of women will appreciate this move, I am sure. Now in Orlais, for Dragon Age 3
(if it is there), it will be a great idea!
Appearance: When I change gear on me I am eager to see how it looks. When it looks the same
as my last, I am disappointing. It's like you level up, you become stronger,
but you don't get a skill. Please, create as more unique gear as you can. Also
it will be nice if we can see changes in things like rings and amulets or
belts.
Professions: Bring back professions! It was wonderful in Origins! I was sad about how you
changed it in Da2. Do something like in Mass Effect 3. As I saw from the Demo,
the idea to zoom in on a table was great! Image something like this in Dragon
Age. For example, if you are Alchemist, you have a specific place to create
your potions, let's say a table in your house. As you interact with it, it
zooms in with a locked camera and an Alchemy Menu pops up and various recipes
appears. You choose what you want to create and watch the whole progress of
creation! The same imagination goes for all the others professions.
Junks: Who needs junks? What is the meaning of those items? I don't find a reason why you
put them in the game. If the reason is to sell them and make money, then why
didn't put to loot money in the first place? If the reason is to fill up the
inventory somehow, then make smaller inventory... Anyway, I don't find them a
reason to exist in the game.
Codex: Mass Effect has voiced Codex. Dragon Age why not?
Graphics: I watched every demo and video of Mass Effect 3, and all of them was... oh my
god! I said a lot of times to myself "What a nice-looking game!",
"Bravo Mass Effect Team!", "Wow, nice actionscene!",
"Incredible vistas!", "Outstanding stage-depth". I said the
same when I played Mass Effect 2 also.
And then... you come to realize that those masterpieces of graphics,
produced from the same studio! I don't ask you to produce the best video game
graphics out there, but for god sake, do something equal to Mass Effect 2 at
least. I don't have something else to say about the graphics. It makes me
angry.
DLC: Legacy? Yes, that was a DLC. Awakening? Yes, that was an Expansion. Leliana's
Song? Hmm, good. Everything else? Far from being good. I believe that if you
keep the way you did in Legacy, then you are in the right direction. It was a
nice DLC indeed. There were bosses, nice scenario, new environments, nice
tactics (especially the last Boss). It was a full DLC, worth buying. Keep at
this direction please.
Environments: I really don't want to give you any feedback about this, as I believe there are
a lot of threads already. I want to believe that you hear yours fans... They
are screaming about the re-use maps.
Decisions: Please, make my decisions matters, otherwise don't force me to do them. Really,
if there is no reason or consequence to make a decision, I don't want to have
any part. It will be better if the cutscene runs on its own if my decision
hasn't any consequence. At least I am not going to complain, because I will
know it was inevitable.
Cinematic: Again, I will say the same. Learn from Mass Effect Team. They just do it
better. You don't need to use all the time this static camera. And I can't
count how many time Hawke and his/her fellows were immovable in a conversation.
Make them do something... Imagine yourself in a Dragon Age conversation, I am
sure you will feel more like robot than human. Another thing that I really
don't like is the small number of animations. I mean, you see a NPC do the "scripted"
(I am not sure if I use the right terminology) move "N". You go to
another NPC and you see the same move again. It's annoying, because it makes me
feel like they lose their personality in some way.
That's all from me, for now. Thank you for reading them. I would like to read yours
