During the Demands of the Qun quest when the Qunari have attacked the city you meet a group of Grey Wardens who help you fight off an attack and give you the Wardens Promise ring. They say they cannot stay to help because they have more pressing business. What pressing business is it? This is my second play through and I cant remember that ever being addressed.

It doesn't say in DA2, but I'm guessing their pressing business is more likely related to something from Awakening: either something to do with the Archtect and the awakened darkspawn, or, as hinted at the end of Awakening if you played with an Orlesian Warde, there might be another Blight starting up in either orlais or the Anderfels.

It isn't addressed - I'm hoping that it is resolved in more DLC for DA:II or is the main plot for DA:III.

At the end of the game (That's a spoiler hint for those who aren't cautious...) Leliana mentions that the Hero of Fereldan (your player in DA:O) and the Champion of Kirkwall (your player in DA:II) have gone missing - presumably the plot or something to do with DA:III. My guess is the Wardens are tending to whatever has drawn the Hero and the Champion together.

It's never mentioned why they were in Kirkwall in the first place, nor is there ever any other mention about where Stroud and his Grey Wardens went (Carver or Bethany included if they're Wardens). I would assume they were investigating something, probably involving the Deep Roads and the Primeval Thaig Hawke's expedition found, since the Deep Road maps originated from the Grey Wardens. Nathaniel Howe is also present in the Deep Roads in Act 3 (if he survived Awakening), looking into the Thaig. So that may be the connection or there could be something completely different going on that's just left out of the loop of information currently.

You know what this means Bioware....DLC content where Hawke helps the Wardens for whatever reason after dealing with Corypheus.

Heh, a new DLC where Hawke actually becomes a Grey Warden so Grey Warden Carver can be overshadowed yet again. Hawke always keeping a brother down.

Hawke and the Warden together would kind of make sense for a DAIII plot but I dont know how I would feel about that. It would be cool on one hand to see them working together but I think it would make game play awkward for me to have them both there.

Not missing-gone. Cassandra specifically used the word gone to describe the absence of Hawke and the Warden.

Well to Cassandra and her cohorts, them going somewhere and not telling them = missing. Wording isn't really that significant in this case, at least it doesn't appear to be.
