1st: DAII - combat much more challenging, evocative story
2nd: Origins - great characters and story, combat fun (especially Redcliffe and Denerim battles)
3rd: Awakening - still enjoyed it a lot but an overabundance of skills/talents/abilities made combat a cakewalk

(in a nutshell)

1) Origins
2) Awakening
3) DAII

Origins were great in many aspects and made med care a lot for my Warden and what would become of him. And I am probably the only one who think Origins looked better than DAII. It may depend on my computer but I don't know what people are talking about when they say that DAII had improved graphics O.o

At first I thought of putting Awakening last because I played it after DAII. That made me see how it started to go downhill with that expansion because many things that I liked with Origins were gone in Awakening. Then I remember the characters and the environments and how every place had a special feeling to it.

DAII could've been a good game but the copy-paste-dungeons and the boring boss fights made me change the difficuty setting to easy just to get it over with. The characters and their stories were great though :)

Tough one, but...

Dragon Age II: best story and storytelling I've ever seen in a game, great companions, very fun combat, but lacking a bit in terms of atmospheric surroundings

Dragon Age Origins: great story and characters, very atmospheric surroundings but too many long stretches of nothing but fighting darkspawn

Dragon Age Awakening: I still haven't finished this yet but so far I have certainly enjoyed it.

So I vote Dragon Age II.

Origins; the most fun cRPG I’ve played thus far.

It had a classic but engaging story, superb characters that were a joy to interact with, (and we were allowed plenty of opportunities to do so; we were even allowed to speak about little things like Morrigan’s mirror or Leliana’s love for shoes).

Interesting combat that felt as part of the plot, with great finishing moves.

Origins; which allowed for unique perspectives of the warden’s role, and provided different opportunities to define the warden’s personality and motivations.

A dialogue system, which was clear and provided good opportunities to define our character’s personality, as we saw fit.

…and more.

Awakening and DA2 I didn’t like much, I’m afraid. Imo, it lacked those Origins characteristics I’ve loved, (and pointed up here).

Origins the clear winner, and Awakening just barely beating DA2. I liked the story of Awakening more, but the bugs (Sigrun's quest, Velana meeting the Dalish) were far more egregious.

I have not ventured past DAO yet - Ive seen pictures of Zev and I cringe at the thought now of meeting him in game again. I have Awakenings and will do that after I finish my most recent run thru.

So far Im thinking DAO is going to be hard to beat - I did not enjoy Mass Effect's format and DA2 seems similar - also I do not like the female character from what Ive seen so far in clips and most likely end up being male hawk which is fine - Its nice to jump boarders for awhile :P

I guess Ill come back in awhile and give my final report later :)

Only Origins. 9/10
I liked the chess-like combat system where you actually had to think and were encouraged to + the realistic though heroic overall. All it's merits complemented each other and managed to totally win me over, making me ignore the few cons it did have. Plus all the extensive role-play involved.

The others are sub par - I am trying really hard to get myself through all the "accessible" much-simplified 2. The game was bad in-itself and especially when put into all context, imho.
And Awakening has a lot of lousy bugs + it's really an expansion with not so much content to it that one would expect from such a pricy game.
Still, Awekening >>>> DA2.

edit for bad grammar and clarity

1) DA2
2) DA:O
3) DA: A

Dragon Age 2 is my favorite for these reasons: Good story, voiced protgonist, greatly improved combat system, great graphics, engaging and polarizing characters, a much reduced sense of gamer pandering (many hate the fact that some of their decisions don't always have a pronounced effect on the rest of the world, I find it more realistic), a protagonist with family and the relationships that go along with that, more emotional investment in the story and characters (I cried, no other video game has ever evoked that reaction in me), and a great end-game (minus Orsino going all "Ragh, blood magic!" for no good reason, that was silly).  It was far from being a perfect game (repeating areas, boring area design, and many other other nit-picky details), but of the games in the series, it's the one I've gotten the most enjoyment out of, even if some aspects drove me nuts.

DA:O I also love, though it comes in second.  Boring, seen-it-ten-million-times story made bearable only by the amazing characters and the beautifully fleshed out, lore-rich setting.  And oh, dear God, the dungeon crawling, the awful, monotonous dungeon crawling, especially the Deep Roads.  Graphics were passable, but dissappointing, although the area designs just blew me away.  Absolutely gorgeous, Origins succeeded here where DA2 was definitely lacking.  Origins also has a very broad RP scope, which is fun, but I would have much preferred it if the lines were voiced, the Warden is a constant blank in-game, which, to me, was jarring in a world full of such vibrant characters.  I am also irritated by the way companions and NPCs are always treating the Warden like the end-all be-all of everything that is wise and wonderful.  I get to make decisions that my character really shouldn't get to make, but of course in typical RPG fashion, it's all about putting the player in total control.  It's a wonderful game, regardless, and there are many elements from it that I hope get carried over into DA3 that didn't end up in DA2.

DA:A comes in last because overall I just felt "Meh" about most of it.  It's more dungeon crawling, more "A great evil has arisen, go fix it Warden!".  I was also put in mind of Crossroad Keep from NWN2 with the Vigil, which I didn't much care for.  Some people love managing Keeps and vassals and troops and such, I am not one of them.  Characters were fantastic though, I loved all the companions (yes, even Velanna), and the antagonists were both very interesting.  I also enjoyed all the new abilities and specializations.  Good expansion, if a bit boring story-wise.

Origins > Awakening + DLCs > DA II for me.
I wonder if anyone would tally up all the results and post them. I'd be interested to see them. I'm seeing an especially high number of people who agree with me here, which I find surprising considering all the online reviews and how well the game is doing.

Anyway, here is my breakdown:

1. Origins: An epic game spanning a large area, different maps, engaging NPCs, hours of dungeon-crawling, pages of dialogue, customisable characters and party members, strategic combat, and at least 80 hours of gameplay. In this game, the fate of the Kingdom was in my hands. I've played this game through 3 times, and spent many sleepless nights just to get through the next dungeon or finish the next quest. It is really one of my favourite games of all time. Of course, there is nothing especially original about the game or the story, but it puts together all the best elements of RPGs, and for any RPG fan, this is as good as it gets.

2. Awakening + DLCs: Probably because they are expansion packs, and not standalone games, they don't really hold a candle to the original. I did enjoy revisiting my character's background through Witch Hunt, and quite enjoyed the challenge of making sure the Keep didn't fall even though I wanted to leave it behind to save the city. But on the whole, I only played through all the DLCs once (I didn't even bother to get Shale in my second playthrough) so I can tell it wasn't that engaging for me.

3. DA2: I really tried to like DA2. I tend to avoid going off on a rant about it because public opinion seems to indicate it's a good game, but just not one that's marketted at me. I disliked the cartoonish combat, I'd compare it to anime but I'd probably be wrong so I won't. I didn't quite dislike the set character, but I preferred the customised character that was, basically, my ego-insert in DAO. The RPG elements seemed watered down, and I understand that this appeals to a wider range of fans, again it's not marketted at me. I missed the skills. The writing didn't change much from Origins (I think it's the same team?), but then it wasn't brilliant in Origins, but there was more of it, more little stories, more little easter eggs like random notes and little quests (that made sense), and every now and then you stumbled on a little gem which you missed in your first two playthroughs. I disliked that it all looked the same, nothing seemed to change, everything seemed so big and yet empty. And, finally, despite the promises that the fate of the Kingdom is in our hands, that the future is decided by us, it's not. The game seems to play out without me.

1) Dragon Age 2. It had a great combat system, awesome storytelling, and really set the stage for things that impact the world, as opposed to a small blight that some people don't think really happened. The Skill and Specialization System I feel were much improved over Origins, and on the PC the Combat System was mostly the same, but ran much smoother and was overall prettier. The only issue I had with Dragon Age 2 was the mapping, but if that's fixed, it would have no issues.

2) Dragon Age: Origins. A solid game in its own rights, but had a lot more boring parts in the game, as opposed to Dragon Age 2, which seemed more Action-packed. Origins definantly had the more interesting characters though, with Alistair, Oghren and the non-retarded Anders being my favourite. After playing Dragon Age 2 though, and seeing peoples response to the Blight, it feels Origin wasn't as big in the wider picture as people think it was a fake, when obviously you just shut it down really fast. People also complain about how you weren't able to choose a Dwarf or Elf Hero in Dragon Age 2, but I agree with the direction they went entirely, they wanted to tell a framed story about one family, as opposed to a Lone-Warden who returns his order to glory. The family was already Human, so why would they have a Dwarf Step-son? If what I think is happening, then in Dragon Age 3 we should be able to get the option to choose the three races again.

3) Dragon Age: Awakening / Legacy: I felt that the Awakening Expansion was a little rushed, and too much like Origins for my taste, with the characters feeling pretty stale since the expansion as a whole felt really short to me. Legacy, while not an Expansion I liked more then Awakening.

EDIT: Before anyone says I clearly don't know what I'm talking about, I have over 300 Hours in Origins/Awakening, and almost 100 in Dragon Age 2 over multiple different playthroughs. I've completed the majority of the Codex in Origins multiple times, and for the most part have all the achievements except maybe 1 or 2 per game. Dragon Age 2 has been played less, because it hasn't been out as long, but it's still the superior game in my eyes because of the changes it made, while Origin is a throwback to classics if they kept Dragon Age as just classic RPGs, they wouldn't see very much as classics aren't as classic as people feel.

DA:O (The whole epic feel about it is wonderful)
Awakening (Areas and specializations were good)
DA2 (Least favorite. I liked it for some of the ideas though like how Hawke's personality changes and for some of the quests - All that remains - but all in all, it was an average experience and I struggled to play come my third playthrough as the rogue)
