Right now they're giving me the impression that there will be indeed some kind of multiplayer featured in ME3. I don't like that at all. One sentence from a known BioWare employee saying "no MP in ME3" would be more than enough to put my worries to rest. Or even a "we don't know just yet, maybe it's in, myabe it's out, we're working on it and tell you when we know". Something, so we know where we stand. By saying nothing they seem to be confirming there will MP and it will be announced later. Obviously it's something the fans care to know about a lot, so why not simply stop the rumors once and for all?
So to me it seems that either there is multiplayer in ME3 or someone at BioWare/EA decided they're in really desperate need of any kind of publicity they'll get. Both options are not to my liking.
So Jesse Houston, one of the main producers of Mass Effect 3 coming out and saying that "The MP rumours are just that, rumours." isn't enough for you?
That said, I will consider this official when Jesse Houston confirms on his twitter page that this is infact him and not someone else.
It shouldn't be enough for anyone. It's a completely useless and redundant statement!
"This shovel is just that, a shovel."
"This ham sandwich is just that, a ham sandwich."
"This beach ball is just that, a beach ball."
"This rumor is just that, a rumor."
"This salarian scientist is just that, a salarian scientist."
If you read any more meaning than the obvious redundancies in the above examples, you're merely projecting your own desires onto them.
