Right now they're giving me the impression that there will be indeed some kind of multiplayer featured in ME3. I don't like that at all. One sentence from a known BioWare employee saying "no MP in ME3" would be more than enough to put my worries to rest. Or even a "we don't know just yet, maybe it's in, myabe it's out, we're working on it and tell you when we know". Something, so we know where we stand. By saying nothing they seem to be confirming there will MP and it will be announced later. Obviously it's something the fans care to know about a lot, so why not simply stop the rumors once and for all?

So to me it seems that either there is multiplayer in ME3 or someone at BioWare/EA decided they're in really desperate need of any kind of publicity they'll get. Both options are not to my liking.

So Jesse Houston, one of the main producers of Mass Effect 3 coming out and saying that "The MP rumours are just that, rumours." isn't enough for you?

That said, I will consider this official when Jesse Houston confirms on his twitter page that this is infact him and not someone else.

It shouldn't be enough for anyone. It's a completely useless and redundant statement!

"This shovel is just that, a shovel."
"This ham sandwich is just that, a ham sandwich."
"This beach ball is just that, a beach ball."
"This rumor is just that, a rumor."
"This salarian scientist is just that, a salarian scientist."

If you read any more meaning than the obvious redundancies in the above examples, you're merely projecting your own desires onto them.

Rumors are just rumors isn't the same as saying no.

Whatever, No point in a back and forth. -_-

It's because of the publicity, man. They'll take any they can.

That seems to be everyone's (denial) response.

Not denial, just pragmatics. I don't know one way or the other about whether they will have it, but someone in their business takes in as much free publicity as they can.

And yet you seem to think that a lack of a denial denotes a confirmation.

Considering Chris Priestly, and the rest of the dev's total ambivalence on the issue, I don't think you have anything in your favor of your 'interpretation'

Oh no. I fully hope for an MP component in the game, but I have't said there IS MP either way. Im just sitting on the sidelines speaking my opinion with very direct and obvious remarks.

That's my style. When March comes, we'll see.

I think both parties are doing a fair bit of that, and if you wish to take a sentance, and strip of contexual meaning, and then apply an interpretation to it, well, it's your keyboard.

Unless your privy to some secret information you aren't sharing with us javier it's still not a no.  Not a yes either.  I don't really have a dog in this fight.  I mean I kinda think there will be MP in ME3 but it's not from really wanting it, though I'm not opposed to it.  I wish there was a way to have to both ways as to prove the jerks on both sides wrong.

And this would not be the first time Bioware folks have dissembled.  That's not a negatve knock against them either!  They can't just go announcing and confirming stuff willy nilly without losing there jobs for not sticking to the schedule.  So until there is a clear declaration either way from an official source nothing is "official", "confirmed" or an "official confirmation".

Like I've said several times:

They can kill this thing permanently with five simple words: "ME3 will not have multiplayer."

And with that line of thought, you can go so far as to say that nothing we've seen so far is official, because the game hasn't gone gold, and hasn't been boxed yet.

SS romance isn't in right? I guess Modding weapons can also easily take a turn down the "we didn't have enough time to polish it before release" road.

They've said before that it's not in ME3. Maybe if the ME3 lead devs sign a notarized statement in their own blood with a group of witnesses from the forums, that'll finally do the trick. *snort*

"ME3 will not have multiplayer"

Lol @ you folks who are so insistent that there's "definitely" going to be MP.

Equally, the folks who are so against the inclusion of MP shouldn't really waste their time with the folks mentioned above, as nothing will convince them save themselves when they start up the game come March 2012.

haha.....truer words have never been spoken

Jesse Houston saying "There is no multiplayer in ME3" would be enough. Jesse Houston saying "The MP rumours are just that, rumours." isn't that much more helpful than Chris Priestly's repeated "You wouldn't believe me whatever I'd say, so I don't say anything and you just wait".

But yeah, there's actually not much of a point to this discussion...

BZZT WRONGO

Nice try though.

I don't know how you missed it but there are tons of videos that show weapon modding in the game while being played at things like E3,and this handy video shows a screencap of s/s confirmation . Maybe you should check it out!  There is some cool stuff in there. :wizard:

And if they did eventually strip both out that actually wouldn't change the fact that they were confirmed.  Such things have also happened previously if ones pays attention to history.  So just wrong on all counts, better luck next time.

While I don't really care either way for the inclusion of multiplayer, the only thing I have to say is that Bioware's track record with rumors is that they always end up becoming true.

It would be a refreshing change of pace that this time the rumor turns out to be false :P

It's been a while, but I remember a slew of ME2 rumors that turned out to be full of crap. Including a multiplayer rumor, I believe.

We'll have to see what GamesCom brings,

If BioWare goes through 2 of the largest gaming conventions in the world, without even supporting the MP rumours with vague hints, then that rules out the feature of MP for me.

You don't go to conventions like that, and not hint about a feature like MP.

Let's say John Doe is watching E3, and he doesn't know what ME is, he mainly likes MP heavy games. The way he sees it, a game without MP is a game without replayability.
Sees the video, is slightly interested, and then after seeing Jesse Houston say "We'll we're focusing on making the single player experience the best ...blah blah blah", John Doe eventually loses interest.

That type of scene is why I would think we would have seen more comments of "Hmmm" or other supportive comments rather than just continually downplaying the possibility of spending any focus at all on MP.

BSN: Is Mass Effect being ported to PS3?
Bioware: Mass Effect is available on Xbox 360 and PC!

BSN: What is this "The Arrival" DLC announcement?
Bioware: I don't know what you're talking about!

BSN: is there a Dragon Age 2 demo?
Bioware: we don't comment on rumors

BSN: "The Prothean" mission pack? What?
Bioware: lol typo!

BSN: Hey, is that Aria's face icon!
Bioware: WORK IN PROGRESS, NOTHING TO SEE HERE

etc etc

Didn't Casey say "confirming s/s will be in?" Hasn't modding weapons been mentioned by Bioware people as being part of ME3? Meanwhile no one has mentioned multiplayer voluntarily, and no one has given a straight answer.

It's like politics. Freaking annoying.
