The geth are monsters, only held in check by logic and computer programs
I'm quite amazed at how concerned people are about being fair to the Geth. They're just machines. Since they're not even alive there's nothing immoral about killing or "enslaving" them. It's like saying it's wrong to delete a computer virus.
This line of thinking makes me think that some people didn't really play through the mass effect games, or at the very least, played through them without bothering to listen to any dialogue, especially not from Legion when he basically explained what the geth are and what they do.
I find the premise that they are monsters "only held in check by logic" is a rather flawed one. Geth function based on logic. That is their only way of functioning. This also means it would be far more simple to negotiate with the geth, because you simply need to appeal to reason. Organic life is inherently unreasonable. This makes them inherently more predictable and more dangerous. An organic life form can randomly choose to attack someone simply because they don't like them. This would not happen with the Geth as we know of them. The only time the geth attack are when they are attacked first or if they instructed to do so by a Reaper.
Geth have developed sentience. They have just as much a right to survival as any other sentient form of life. They are entitled to make their own decisions and come to their own consensus, just like asari, turian, krogan, rachni, quarian, elcor, volus, et cetera. And as long as that doesn't infringe upon another's right to make their own decisions and live their own lives, I don't see what's so 'monstrous' about it.
As for the assertion that Geth are different from other forms of sentient life because they make the "logical" decision to attack hospitals. I seem to distinctly recall the Urdnot Chief Scout saying that other krogran clans would attack the female clans and children if they were not so heavily defended, because wiping out the krogan's ability to reproduce would effectively kill the clan. It's clearly not limited to the geth.
