The fairest option would to let both races coexist with each other on the homeworld but given their history it may take a while before that option becomes a possibility.

That's actually the silly option because the geth. don't. live. there.  They don't want to live there.  They've only got what amounts to a clean-up crew there.

Exactly the mentality of the Geth seems to be "I don't give a ****". I'm just saying if the Geth wanted to live on the Homeworld they have as much as a right to as the Quarians.

I'm quite amazed at how concerned people are about being fair to the Geth. They're just machines. Since they're not even alive there's nothing immoral about killing or "enslaving" them. It's like saying it's wrong to delete a computer virus.

Rannoch belongs to the Quarians. IMO the most sensible thing to do with the Geth is to wipe them out before they become an unmanageable threat. What's to stop more of them from being like the "Heretics"?

The same should be done to other species because they also can become a threat

Geth are synthethic life.

They can think for themselves.

Regular machines don't think. They just do what they're programmed to do.

Posts like these make me think that some people just dismiss everything Legion says just because he's a lowly machine.

Paragon finds the way for both to live there in peace. That's how paragon goes, compromises trough diplomacy and finds best possible sollution for both parties involved. :)

Like Didymos tried to explain several times, only the Quarians want their planet Rannoch back. The Geth live in space stations orbiting the surrounding systems, only coming down to the planet to rebuild and maintain the planet. All we've been fighting so far are heretic Geth siding with the Reapers. The true Geth (If we believe Legion) want to be left alone but will coexist peacefully among other races. That said, as long as the Quarians are sincere in their offer of peace, the Geth will simply give the Quarians their planet back, they don't use it anyway. If however the Quarians keep their hostile nature towards the Geth, they'll be destroyed plain and simple.

IMO even if the Geth gave the Quarians Rannoch, gave them that entire system and lived elsewhere, the Quarians would still be determined to kill every last Geth.

the Quarians have defined themselves by the events of the Morning War and by extension the Geth. The homeworld wont be regained, even if they're living on it, until their 'mistake' i.e. the Geth are destroyed.

So no they shouldn't get Rannoch, the only way for them to move on and out of their current mindset is to force them into new circumstances. If they're good boys and girls and help Shepard defeat the Reapers they can pick a new world and Shepard will make sure they get it.

Who knows maybe the Geth, in a few centuries, can give the old quarian worlds back as a gift once they're closer to their dyson sphere dream.

Geth don't need Quarian homeworld, hell they don't even use any Quarian planets!

Legion said they only mine asteroids and mostly live in space stations.
And only thing they're doing on Quarians planets is to cleaning up mess and maintain the place to pay respect to their creators, even though Quarians are still hostile to them.

What I got from Legion is the non-Heretic geth want the quarians to come home. The geth just want to know what they did that was so wrong it was deserving of death. It's rather sad, actually. :(

I also love that, instead of colonising a new planet, they spent 300 years flying around the universe. Would have easily been enough to colonise a planet and adjust the eco-system. Then when they tried to colonise a planet, they didn't ask the Citadel Council, so it was illegal and they had to leave again.

Quarians seem kinda stupid, for all their technical genius...

I don't know how anyone can punish an entire species and keep a straight face. Then again I don't really understand how anyone can have such a lopsided and assbackwards view of the Morning War either.

Don't get me started on animal rights insanity.

The geth are monsters, only held in check by logic and computer programs

I'm quite amazed at how concerned people are about being fair to the Geth. They're just machines. Since they're not even alive there's nothing immoral about killing or "enslaving" them. It's like saying it's wrong to delete a computer virus.

This line of thinking makes me think that some people didn't really play through the mass effect games, or at the very least, played through them without bothering to listen to any dialogue, especially not from Legion when he basically explained what the geth are and what they do.

I find the premise that they are monsters "only held in check by logic" is a rather flawed one. Geth function based on logic. That is their only way of functioning. This also means it would be far more simple to negotiate with the geth, because you simply need to appeal to reason. Organic life is inherently unreasonable. This makes them inherently more predictable and more dangerous. An organic life form can randomly choose to attack someone simply because they don't like them. This would not happen with the Geth as we know of them. The only time the geth attack are when they are attacked first or if they instructed to do so by a Reaper.

Geth have developed sentience. They have just as much a right to survival as any other sentient form of life. They are entitled to make their own decisions and come to their own consensus, just like asari, turian, krogan, rachni, quarian, elcor, volus, et cetera. And as long as that doesn't infringe upon another's right to make their own decisions and live their own lives, I don't see what's so 'monstrous' about it.

As for the assertion that Geth are different from other forms of sentient life because they make the "logical" decision to attack hospitals. I seem to distinctly recall the Urdnot Chief Scout saying that other krogran clans would attack the female clans and children if they were not so heavily defended, because wiping out the krogan's ability to reproduce would effectively kill the clan. It's clearly not limited to the geth.

I know as much about the geth as anyone and to date they still just look like machines to me. They're a very interesting imitation of life, but they are not alive.

You are a machine, too. Levers, ball joints, electrical signals, hydrolics, etc.

Only if you want to use a very broad definition.

I suppose a horse and a car are the same thing.

They aren't natural. For some people there's no getting around that fact.

I'm not saying this in a particularly religious sense, but you just can't program a soul. That's something no AI will ever have.

i hope there is peace with them. But i like the geth WAY better. The geth live in space stations. the planet is used as a memorial. The quarians could easily negotiate peace but the quarians are so close minded that they just want to fight them
