"also, to answer your question, templar got shafted in the patch. while there isn't anything inherently wrong with it, it got no buffs, and can't keep up with the boosts to berserk."
What boost did berserk get in the patch? I don't remember reading any for the PS3 version.

to answer your question from the other thread,
The patch changed berserk to use willpower to calculate base damage, not extra tag on damage. This means that for berserkers base damage is calculated by 15% total stamina + strength/2 + weapon base dmg.
This also means that when I talked about the potential for a full strength build to get 50+weapon base damage and a full willpower build to get ~91+weapon base damage, I was talking about base damage, as in the stuff that gets used to calculate abilities.
This means that something like mighty blow and scatter (x6 multiplier) there will be around a 246 difference in unmodified damage. Once you add on modifiers (e.g. +%crit damage, +%elemental, +%damage from buffs) you'll be talking about a difference of more than a thousand.
Only of course a willpower build needs to have enough strength to maintain decent attack ratings. But now you should see what I mean by how a mixed willpower/strength build should be considerably more powerful than a strength/dex build.
How does a willpower build give higher base dmg? Isn’t str and weapon dmg the only determinants of base dmg? I’ve always assumed that berserk dmg is added in at the end of the computations like on-hit dmg sources (runes and poisons)?

This applies to the PS3 as well right? I must have missed it. I didn’t know this. I have to change the formulas in my calc now.

Now I see. I was inputting the berserk bonus as on-hit dmg in my calc which is why +crit% and +crit dmg came out on top. I’ll try this out soon on my level 50 warrior + level 28 warrior and compare both builds. I think though it’s safe to assume that at the start of a battle a willpower build will out dmg a dex build but a dex build might pull ahead in the end if it’s a long battle and if facing a boss where destroyer’s bonus comes in handy. I will exclude destroyer from my comparison’s though. Too much math. Thanks!
