Exactly. The anime universes are so mind-blowingly, vastly strange and stupid, that NO ONE knows what they are talking about.

Naw, that depends on the series, the problem i see with anime nowadays is lack of originality & loli garbage that panders to the lowest common denominator.

To me, they are all confusing, time wasting, and just plain bad in every way possible, from bad humor to awkward pauses in dialogue filled in with cheap sound effects (which is actually what they consider to be humor).

Nah, I am not into the anime stuff that involves oversized and exaggerated ... well... everything.
Also, loli is creepy as ****. Do not want.

However, I thought that Ghost in the Shell, Kerberos (Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade) or Black Lagoon were kinda good.

Aww come on, I'm a man of refined tastes. Anime is like Hollywood in the same regard that you have a handfull of good series/movies a year out of a hundred.=]

Same here,  including the series/movies you mentioned, i tend to gravitate to stuff like Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, and Akira.

Ah yes, how could I forget Berserk, the obligatory saga with muscular men and their gigantic swords
(probably over-compensating for something if you ask me )?
I also like it, probably the only exception I've made for the art direction.

The story's good too.

The swords or well sword did have a real "meaning" to it, reread Berserk sometime.=]

I think it's pretty obvious ( capt. obvious in this case ) that one can denounce any art form without recognizing the many forms it takes - if you're an ignoramus.

the anime thats been coming out for awhile now has been garbage. its come to the point that the stereotypes are given universal NAMES(tsundere for example) and are used as checklist items to throw into a series. the animation is crap, ironic for a genre named "anime" but there it is, just pull up any anime you know and notice how still the characters are. they dont move much, its like an animated comic-strip. and it gets worse. theres a bunch of things the animators do to cut corners like panning from the character's midsection to their face while someone is delivering their lines or dramatic closeups of peoples mouths while they r being talked to.

screw anime, im watching ponies.

I quit anime after Ninja Scroll. It all seems to be produced by some deranged Japanese molester on LSD..

For once I agree with you, slim.

The same can be said about western animation. There are animations which I asbolutely cannot stand(South Park is a good example) but that doesn't mean I hate all of them. I know there are different genres within that as well as different illustration styles and techniques. But most haters here seem to be homogenizing the entire medium into one thing which is just ignorant and misinformed.

But South Park is one of the best western animations! There is so much more to it and shouldn't be taken at just face value.

Funny, since Zoro is a lot like Luffy in many ways... and the things you hate aboiut him... I am sorry but you come off like you know next to nothing about him or One Piece.

And no one has died in the ways you said... now a lava fist can kill...

Also shonen is childish because what do you think shonen is?

Zorro is like Luffy? Yeah, as much as an apple is like an orange.
There similarities, but there are huige differences. If you can't tell that about personalities, then I can't help ya.

as for what Shonen is:

"Shōnen (少年?), shonen, or shounen, is a Kanji word literally meaning few years and generally referring to a typical boy,
from elementary school through grade school age. It is used in everyday
conversation when referring to the period of youth, including in legal
wording referencing youth, without regard to gender. Shōnen manga is a popular demographic of Japanese comics,
the most popular genre of which is battle manga which is generally
about action/fighting but often contains a sense of humor and strong
growing friendship-bonds between the characters."

Typicly young character, lots of battles, power of freindship/determination uber alles.

And the death rant refers to no one dying - regardless of injury - unless it's dramatic or sacrifical (and even that is rare)

Eitehr way,I've seen enough of One Piece to know that it's not my thing. Entertaining? Yes. I''d watcher that rather than Naruto or DBZ.

Black Lagoon had great potential. But then they went with over-the-top action sequences..Which is realy bad.
The sh**hole of a town, the corruption and violence, the desperation and how broken and scarred so many of the characters are - all good things.
But once you add super-speed, cutting bullets in flight and super-nanny, the atmosphere created began to crumble. Had they just decided to stay more grounded, it could have easily been one of hte best animes.

Because drawing ponies is the height of animation.

For one it's far easier to draw stylized ponies than humans (just drawing a human hand is a pain). For another - budget.
Anime studios usually have tiny budgets. Anime is sorta in a bind because of how distribution is handeled in Japan (100 people want a piece of the cake), and a sizable chunk of the industry is shofting to catering to the most extreeme fanbase (fansrvice, loli's, mindf****)
So yes.. a lot of crap out there.

But I cna say the smae for any type of media.

Hardly the best.
I used to watch it when I was younger but now I just find it disgusting, crude and ridddled with immature humour.

You spelled Zoro and huge wrong...

Anyway, oh sure they are not 100% alike but why don't you tell me how they are not alike in anyway?(and if you say Zoro sleeps a lot and Luffy doesn't I will hit you)=]

And good you know what most Shonen is!

And Pell's not death is the only bad one in all of One Piece and hell I don't want to tell you who but two big named characters died some time ago.

Okay One Piece is not your thing that's fine but may I ask how far did you get? and if I may add why don't you try the manga since it's better than the anime.

And South Park is a great show.
