Not hate. Hate's too strong of a word. I don't think I'm more intelligent than the people that like anime, but I'm just want to know if there's anybody else who doesn't like anime.
Why do I dislike anime? I always found it melodramatic. That, and I can't stand the filler. I don't like it when fights last for more than one episode. Plus, some of the hardcore fans that act like anime is a gift from God kind of scare me.
Yeah I'm with you. To hate it would say I care one way or the other. I've had people try to get me into it and it just doens't work.

I dislike whole rafts of it because the stories don't speak to me, lose something in translation
I can understand the original language and I still don't get it

No film ever has even brought me close to tears. Grave of the Fireflies and the end of Gunslinger Girl had me on the verge.

Based on your objections to anime, Capt., I think you should try out some of the shows mentioned in this thread. I'll add one more - Texhnolyze.
Also if you're into horror and/or vampires Blood+ might be worth checking out.
Fate/Stay Night is another excellent one which is magic/supernatural based.
Even though I like anime, just like everyone else I have my dislikes, mainly DBZ, Gundam(and any retro-style blocky mecha anime),Most Shounen anime(except Naruto) and Neon Genesis:Evangellion(too angsty and confusing although I hear that the new movies are much better)

I have to agree with you on this one!
Grave of the Fireflies had me bawling my eyes out!
It is the saddest movie ever made, beats Schindler's List, Pixar movies or any other live action film hands down.

i h8 anime, anime as an art is dead. everything is a copy of a copy of a copy of something mediocre that did well.
Same thing can be said about games but people still like them

This is my feeling as well. Although I would extend that to anime and manga as well. Really the only thing that sets anime apart from other animation is the art style, since they're supposedly so varied in content.bussinrounds wrote...
I never liked that artstyle in those jrpgs. Just seeing that would make me never want to play those games.
I just don't like the huge eyes, the odd lip-syncing, the over exaggerated body parts (hair, boobs, etc) and what little I've seen of some of the stories. So yeah, the art style is about the only reason that makes sense to dislike the entire genre, since it is all the genre has in common universally.

Saying that there aren't any unique shows or content is not a valid argument as pretty much every medium in entertainment has exhausted all possibilites in creativity(give or take)

Seriously, the narrative and aesthetics in Cowboy Bebop are AMAZING!
