I seem to face this problem in almost every installation (so it's likely one of my favourite mods that does it, since my way of playing shouldn't be an issue).
In Durlag's Tower, level 3, I kill all the inhabitants of the Elemental Chambers, but nothing happens.
How do I get to the chess board? ( = what cheat codes would help me? (BGT installation) )

I'm past it. Used the area cheat to get to the board + an area invisibility scroll and ctrl j to get everybody into position before the battle started (though I seem to have gotten their positions wrong - Jaheira was not my queen apparently).

Completely missed this post, H_t, sorry.
Do you have problems with any of the other area transitions in Durlag's Tower? If you do, most likely a mod is overwriting those area exits.
