doubtful. I went to a quality catholic school when I was eleven, and I sure remember studying hard. Where did you go, a public school? Those are really great these days. It's not about each group one-upping each other. It's more about black people somehow getting upset that the LGBT is stealing their civil rights thunder and as a black lesbian, I find it really sad that as soon as "we got ours", a good portion of us want to turn around and sling mud on another oppressed group.

No, the two situations are not exactly the same.  No one is saying that they are.  Does that honestly make the despicable things done to homosexuals at this time in history any less horrible, or something we should strive to prevent?  Does it really?!

And don't insult 11-year-olds; I know I was much better informed about history and current events at that age than you are at whatever age you are now.

Bigotry is abhorrent no matter whom it's direicted at. To say one group of who are discriminated against shouldn't whine because other people have it bad is insulting to say the least.

What is ridiculous is your elementary lack of knowledge on the history of LGBT people but that doesn't surpise me really considering you went to a catholic school. But it's never too late to learn, so start today.

all of the countries shown are countries where religion has been around for thousands of years. In these country's religion, homosexuality is wrong. It is going to probably take decades or a century before they change there tolerance. Not everyone over in the middle east is going to change Ideals that were created centuries ago.

If you were trying to stay faithful to female LI, you didn't freak out cuz some other female LI hit on you. Okey dokey, I admit, homosexuals do face violence in a few countries. In the highlighted areas, you will also face discrimination for being Catholic/Christian, being a woman, being of a particular racial descent, being poor, and will get your arm chopped off for stealing a loaf of bread, not all of them, but some.

I was refering to Western culture, the one that allows us to sit on our keyboards and have this debate. In Western countries, you kill a man? You'll go to jail. You beat a man up? Whether he's gay or not, you go to jail. You pay a man or woman less than their fair, earned wages according to how hard they work and the skill with which they work? That person will take you to court and sue the pants off you, whether they're gay straight or bi.

We have equal rights, and we hope to give all men and women the same, regardless of what country they live in.

They don't deserve it b/c they are a minority, apparently.

They also don't deserve the same amount of options that het players do, even if it doesn't take all that much to change up a romance to make it fit with same sex.

With all due respect, Rocket_Man77, I always find myself suspicious of people in this forum who say they are from the South and begin typing grammatically horrific and stereotypical "redneck" comments with reckless abandon.

Posts like yours make me consider three possibilities: 1) you are exactly what you way you are and your grammar and debate skills are merely lacking, 2) you are a s/s critic who takes joy using a facade you believe will allow you to make clumsy "oops" offensive statements with impunity, or 3) you are actually a misguided s/s supporter who is trying to make all s/s critics look like dumb "rednecks."

I guess your really screwed if you're Bayard Rustin one of the most important people in the Black Civil rights movement, a contemporary of Dr. King and Rosa Parks, appeared in Life magazine who almost no one has heard of. I'm sure it had nothing to do with his being a gay man. I live in Northern California which is about as liberal as places get and I never heard his name till I did my own investigating.

So really stop trying to make it black vs gay, it's not like they are mutually exclusive.

I will suggest, however, that we get back to the subject of this thread and not get distracted with outside politics. We have already been visited by a moderator and haven't been shot down, and I consider that a good thing.

Public schools could be done properly but just not enough money is put into them. And you can't criticize people for going to public school when there's tons of poverty. Some people just can't afford private school plain and simple. What you're saying is very insensitive. And ya they do that so they can have protected sex.
