you can.  just chose "I would catch you" instead of "I would embrace you" and I think there are couple of other options that you can chose that are of a less flirty king, later on in conversations - and she'll feed your fish without offering to come up and dance for you

I tried that and it didn't work.

To be frank we have tanks that auto-feed now, why can't shepard get one aboard the most advanced ship in the galaxy.

it does work. it worked for me. also - straight from the horse's, I mean level designer's mouth - a confirmation that it does indeed work. you just don't want to skip conversations with her and get friendly with her as soon as possible. I had her feeding my fish before I even recruited everyone.

edited.  I do agree about autofeeders.  I mean, we have one for the hamster, why not the fish?

Because they put more time and effort into constructing the lab and the AI.

Yeah, that IS really stupid. Really really really stupid. It annoyed me no end the first time I played.

But jeweledleah is right--you can do that, and it works. Be nice, but whenever you get the chance to be overtly flirty with her, just choose the neutral option.

LiaraShepard wrote...

lol. no I just think it's stupid of
straight gamers to call for a toggle just to turn off homosexual
content. None of them asks for a toggle to switch off homosexual "or"
heterosexual content. As if they think that they have the right to claim
something like this "against homosexuality", because they're the
majority.

As a straight gamer, I think that's stupid of them. It's so unnecessary--if you don't want to flirt with somebody, don't choose the <3 icon, plain and simple!

But some of us, apparently, are just so damned prissy that when they see that heart icon, or that "you look hot" paraphrase pop up, their naughty bits shrivel like tomatoes in the sun, and they start to get the vapors because their Mass Effect experience is *ruined* , just *ruined* by the possibility of making a choice that is not heterosexual (gasp)!

*facepalm* Okay, can I please just apologize for my orientation now? Because some of us are so freaking lame.

I would like to second, third, fourth, and ten millionth this. Die, ninjamances, die!!!!! The one thing that should be absolutely clear is whether or not you are about to flirt with somebody. Then it's hard for anybody reasonable to complain about S/S romances, and the majority of players can just make informed choices about their characters without any agonizing over whether this option will lead to unwanted boning.

I just wouldn't want to end up tackling Anderson and pulling his Alliance blues off because I chose the option that said "Interesting." I love him, but he's like my dad!

For the rest of it, I like having some extra choices. I don't need to only make Shepards who resemble me in real life, whether by appearance, coloring, gender, or sexual preference. Being able to make a gay or bi Shepard adds to diversity=adds to roleplaying=adds to fun.

If they do another Anders again.... ...
The conversation wheel has more than three branches.
So they can use total of five or max of six to show varying choices.

But seriously I don't want to see another Anders when I want to talk to
my crew...

I don't care who's going to be the s/s love interests I just want them to be individual romances and not the pile of crap what was in DA2

Have to admit I do like a little exclusivity in the romances. Whether gay or straight is irrelevant I'd just prefer they avoid the jump into bed with the player no-matter what attitude. I've heard the term Shepsexual thrown around.

Being bisexual does not automatically mean one wishes to "jump into bed with people no-matter what".

A character's sexuality does not need an explanation why or whom he or she wants to do. All DA2 characters being bisexual worked, because they did not make a big deal out of it and it was all very much in-character for them, if one bothered to get into the story. At least it was so for me.

I expect Mass Effect 3 to have more depth to it though, as the whole storyline just rushed past me in general.

But aside from that, a character's orientation is exclusive to your run of the game. I may choose to pursue a relationship with Miranda, for example. For all intents and purposes, it is a homosexual relationship in my game.

Been saying this for WEEKS, somehow, people believe that we're all playing a community RPG.

I'm totally on board with this, but even with absolute clarity, people will still complain about "ninjamancing" anytime that a gay/bi character makes a single comment indicating they aren't full on straight.  The amount of ****ing about Anders in DA2 drives me bonkers.  He is not "ninjamancing" you when he tells you that Karl was his lover.  Please.  If you think so, you have no concept of what flirtation means.

You still have to tell him a) that it doesn't bother you that he's bi and then B) click one of the following heart options.  You have to hit on him first people!!

Someone talking about a former lover of any gender doesn't mean they are hitting on you.  It's just this stupid idea pushed out by the phobes that gay people talking about their same-sex relationships is the same thing as having a sexual conversation.  I mean, my co-workers can talk all day about their wives, girlfriends, fiances, whatever, but the second I mention a boyfriend in any context I'm having an inappropriately sexual conversation.  I don't think so.

How typical that when the fanboys were demanding this crap
many claimed "we don't want it to be like DA2", yet now it seems the
majority of them want everybody to be bisexual including pre-existing
characters. In their eyes anyway to disable this so you don't have to
deal with rewrites to appeal to their desires is "homophobia" too. Yep. Everybody should be bisexual for their tastes and if you don't like it your a big bad homophobe.

See, this is why developers should ignore the crazier and more obnoxious groups of fanboys. But hey, it means they can sell us things they could have done with this time later on as overpriced microtransactions.

Nerdrage. The most powerful force imaginable....over the internet.

In reality a bunch of melvins yelling at each other isn't quite as impressive. :P

It's obvious it's not since you feel like you need to state it to maintain you "reputation". Could it be... That you've been finally getting some action recently? Or at least close to? :o Congratz! Maybe soon we'll be able to welcome you on the happier, non-frustrated side of life ^_^

You two need to settle this like real men...well...male gamers.

Personally I don't care at this point. While I hope for Kaidan to be an option I wouldn't be heart broken.

Maybe just give me Vega. Or...are you also against Vega as s/s option?

Maybe they shouldn't have romances at all...just today I was talking to Ashley and had to restart because I accidentally romanced her....(so those who are complaining about having to watch what they say to "gay/bi" characters...you kind of have to do that already)

Besides...maybe this is just because I've played the game way too many times but... I'm not emotionally invested in the game anymore. The characters are just video game characters to me now...so...if theres no romance - awesome. It really simplifies the game and causes you to actually focus on your task at hand.

You should have heard my evil laughter, when I wrote it.

In the end I will be fine with whatever Bioware decides to do, in my mindless fanboish manner.
I am not so focused on sexuality in the game, that it will ruin my immersion, one way or the other, actually.
It is one of my favourite topics to talk about, though.
If some of my Sheps don't get the one they want, they will keep focusing on the Reapers.
All they want is somebody to love and in my mind, love they shall have, even if it isn't explicitly in the game.

Personally i dont like having to watch what i say to other female character to avoid just pissing them off.I dont wanna have to do the same with guys, wish it was as simple as just make it a switchable option.but sigh.If garrus starts hitting on me im gonna redo ME2 so i can let him die.

I think it's a consequence of coming into contact with fanbases a little too. I think most people really don't think it's all that big of a deal, but a feature of the BSN (and all  community forums where you deal with strangers) is that it always needs something to bit-ch about. It thrives on our whining.

Whenever I get sick of it all, it helps to go media/community dark for a while, then rekindle the vibrancy later on.
