Lets see how long it takes for this thread to spiral out of control.

So it has to be a dating sim to have romance at all?  Where have you been the last 2 games?

I always ask the people who invoke "dating sim" in their arguments if they have ever played one.

its more complex than that. For my 2 cents on it I simply don't want established as straight characters going Bi on me just to please you.
Oh someones going to come on here and say "nothing to worry about there because there are no established straight characters" BS! I've said it before and I'll say it again some of the characters have been nothing but straight throughout. Garrus and Thane especially. Garrus talks about female Krogan flexibility like sharing his sex stories with his buds. Thane was married and has kid what more proof do you need? Why is it that the only way to establish that a character is straight is that for them to flat out say "I am straight Commander I like the opposite sex"
Thats awkward to bring up no matter how you slice it.
That said some flexibility (no pun intended) can be found here. Kelly is easily Bi if anyone even cares about her. Its possible that some of them are Bi and have kept it close to their chests.
As it stands I'm not against Gay or Bi romances. Hell I'm seriously considering doing a M/M romance in one of my playthroughs and I'm a full straight dude.
But by wanting all romancable characters to be all Bi is to invite DA2's romance all over again.

I completely agree with this, specifically the Garrus/Thane arguement.

I see both sides of the argument over whether or not an old character can be bisexual as valid. I am indifferent towards what happens, as long as there is at least a single gay male romance.

But why is it so important to me? I can't remember.

As I've said before, same-sex romances are fine, but do not force it in there to look good. A new character that is bi/gay would be fine, but don't reverse all of the characters sexualities to raise the bar. Changing key characters sexuality is like changign their race, it makes no sense and is frankly stupid.

And all of mine have L1s.
ONe of my males faked interest with Ashley throughout ME1 just to get in bed with her.  It doesn't have to be romance it can just as easily be 2 people blowing off steam before the **** hits the fan.

That bisexual guys sleep/marry women? We all know that. The point is not that anyone says "Ohh it's certain they're bisexual". The point is that it is possible for them to be bisexual. Sleeping with one gender does not exlude the possibility someone may be sleeping with the other one as well or be interested.

A good way to avoid ninjamances would be a "heart" option like in DA2.  If you never picked a heart option, you would not have an LI show up for sexy times.  End of story.

IIRC in ME2, none of the squadmates even hinted at sexual attraction to Shepard unless Shepard picked one of the dialogue options that started the romance.  The problem was apparently some people not being able to discern these romance triggers from other dialogue lines (though I'm not sure what kind of stress relief these people thought they were offering Garrus).

I think sexuality is a hard think to sum up in one character, having everyone bi-sexual just makes a character's sexuality seem like a un-important part of the character, i'm not say Bi-sexuality is wrong, what i saying is a character shouldn't just be bi to divine them but it should be a aspect of who they are. Take for example Vega, we don't know what his sexuality is, however if he is a homosexual it shouldn't be just because he is but who he is. Extra Credits does a great discussion on sexuality http://www.escapistm...exual-Diversity

Not to be an ass, but they never really do elude to it. I can understand characters like Tali which were orignally built to be bi-sexual, but if characters like Garrus, that are mainly just your bro, came onto you in ME3, I would feel as if they forced it. By all means, introduce more variety, but forcing it where it wasn't before is just too weak of an argument.

I can buy a new squad member being bi, or one of the old squad members admitting they're bi. But if they make everyone bi all of a sudden, that will be ridiculous and completely unbelievable to me.

I don't play Dragon Age :) And why do you automatically assume that if I want one/some of the old characters to be available for s/s option in ME3 then I want them to hit on "you"? On the contrary, if they're available for s/s option in ME3 then they shouldn't hit on "you", or "me" (since they didn't do that in ME1/ME2 so it means they had some reason. ) and it should be Shepard making the first move (or, for example, announcing thorugh the Normandy intercomm "Listen everyone! I'm gay gay gay! Everyone who's interested can hit on me now! :D")

It was not like that for me in Dragon Age 2.

Perhaps you think bisexuals are like that in general then? That is rather offensive.

Just like to point out here that this whole thread is pointless.

Neither side will admit that they're wrong about anything.

As it has been with every thread before it.

It starts out bringing up a few points and then devolves into "You're a homophobe!" and "I don't want established characters to go gay!" and back to "Well they never told you they weren't!" then "You don't have to tell everyone you're straight in order to be straight!" and finally back to "You're a homophobe!"

Hate that phrase, it's pointless.

You're offended. He isn't. So what.

There's no reason for a switch at the beginning. Only some characters will be available, and you should either just watch what you say in general and/or they should allow a "Whoa! That's not what I meant!" type option if a squadmate took what you said as insinuation. It's really not that big of a deal.

Garrus wouldn't do that. He's not sexually into humans. He basically blatantly admits it to FemShep. He's only going to stick "it" in her because she wants it and he respects her as a friend blah blah. He never 'comes' onto FemShep, so why would he do that onto ManShep?

Two things about this topic:

1. Keep it civil

2. Don't post images as emotes or commentary.

If you cannot follow either of those, or cannot seem to follow the Site Rules, then do not post.
