Yes.

I'll more then likely get quite a bit of enjoyment out of it but it's definitely no longer the franchise I fell in love with.

And why is that?

Some pointless reason like loot or the Mako.

Everything is pointless.
Anyways I already answered her question silly.

ME1 went out of it's way to try and seem 'plausible'.
ME2 went more or less "**** it. Rule of Cool".

Plus a lot of the original writers have left.

Frankly, the Latest Trailer, at Gamescom, was just.... damn, i don't know, it just turned me off(not in THAT way....), it just looked.....*sigh* i don't know, iffy i think, the animations where.....ugh, and the trailer just seemed just put together without thought, it seemed....Rushed (oh my god..... are they Rushing everything now?!?!), and the music at the end of the trailer was NOT helpful.

Overall very, very, very bad trailer(IMO).

this doesn't mean i'm not interested in the game though, it's still one of my most anticipated games of 2012, but if they keep on with these trailers, i'm going to loose interest, and i'm sure a lot of people will (i have seen a lot of people saying the trailer was S**t.)

Your not gonna make it 7 months from now.
Your ADD will kick in and your gonna find something else.  If a trailer this far from release is gonna get you this worked up then you might as well find a different hobby... one that doesn't give you brain anurysms.

You know what? I think everyone here should hope that ME3's current marketing is exactly like Homefront's!

1) How does the Atlas remind of you of Halo?

Not directed at Jonathan Shepard but at the people who keep bringing this up. For Christ sake STOP with the comparisions of Starcraft, Halo, and Gears of War. You people SHOULD KNOW that there are actually series that came out way before those three that had their concepts implemented before they were even thought/dreamt of. Oh I don't know maybe... STAR TREK, STAR WARS, and WARHAMMER 40K universe. It seems like due to people's ignorance they use these three game titles, Starcraft, Halo, and Gears, as the end all and be all staples for Sci-fiction marketing when there are series that came up with their ideas DECADES before them. If anything Mass Effect takes alot more nods from Star Trek than any other series out there.

Sure, those may have been the pioneers for the aspects youve said.  But it's games like Gears of War that "pefected" those aspects.  Gears of War is one of, if not THE, standard for cover based combat in modern shooters.  (Remember I said at least ONE of lol).  The reason people make the associations to such games is because it is these games that helped to perfect their respective systems.  When something becomes archaic, it becomes a footnote usually.  Which is why it's the more recent games that get the recognition.

No people bring up Gears of War as an insult.  People aren't looking at Gears of War and going oh awesome that Mass Effect is doing that awesome thing to!!!
Their going OMG how dare they even think about using GoW as a model?  Ironic when they complain how bad the shooting elements have been.

@Geshie - *shakes head* I never said GoW cover system was perfect. It's damn close. But whether you choose to believe it or not, its one of the standards to which most modern cover systems are held to. But that's not the point. Even those folks who are making comaparisons to the omniblade etc. They're comparing ONE aspect that they see. Not the game in its entirety. If you dont like the references being made, use your mouse and by all means leave the thread.

People make comparisons to things they can relate and associate with. Just because they're not making the references YOU would make, doesnt make them any less valid.

I never said they weren't valid but comparing a game that is pure shooter to every extent and meaning to the label to a game that is more than just pure shooter is just lazy. And I can say the same about leaving to you cause if you think people haven't based it one aspect on its entirety then you are sadly mistaken my friend. Alot of people do comparisions solely on one aspect all the time. And the cover system is one of the main things that I hear that people keep compairing Gears of War to, after the first demo reveal at E3 where the new cover system was shown thats all people screamed about it being a Gears clone when there are plenty of other shooters out there that has done what Gears has done several times over already.

Whose comparing every aspect of a game to another?
The only one I see doing that is you.

Ive never understood this philosophy either.  But meh *shrugs* I'll take their collectors edition if they dont want it :P

Frankly, I think ME1 proved that a bad trailer doesn't make a bad game... That shot that was just the mako jumping made me cringe.

So if it is a good shooter then it HAS to be a bad RPG? I don't see why people keep saying that. Look at Skyrim it has both and from what I have seen of Mass Effect 3 it does to.

Yeah, and Skyrim's trailer showed no RPG mechanics at all and yet people claim it to be the RPG of 2011.

Seriously. Bethesda games never were known for their engaging questlines and overall great story telling. Cornerstones of any RPG. Now they are going to introduce random questgeneration in Skyrim. How does that fit with "good RPG" ?

Random quest generation???

*facepalm

Wow, so another one of these threads...great. No, I don't feel pessimistic because I realize that what they're doing at this very early stage is to show off some of the combat improvements they've made while avoiding any major spoilers. They've already shown weapon mods and how you can modify some of your powers (to give you more control) - elements that people wanted back in the game. I don't think the fact that they've improved combat is somehow a negative unless you like jumping to unreasonable conclusions about such things.

Seriously though, ME1 was a one time game as far as I'm aware.

I'm hoping Deus Ex Human Revolution makes me feel the things I felt when I played ME1.

ME2 and 3 just seem to be changing from the original vision of ME1, like DA2 did of DAO.

Mass Effect was appealing to many because it was different than other science fiction games. God forbid I land on a planet that is barren and explore....you know, because most planets are barren....because, by golly, I can't shoot at stuff!!!!!!!! My finger....not on the trigger. Finger....trigger.

Combat is of course an important element. Duh. But what I've seen now is just a typical shooter....and I liked Mass Effect because it had original music and a great story and lots to explore to slow it down and give breaks from shooting at things with my finger on the trigger. Constantly. Aiming and shooting. Pew pew. Contacts!!!!! Pew, pew, pew..........Another wave!!!!! Sweet awesome!!! Pew pew.

It was appealing to people who didn't like the status quo of what was out there.

The omni-blade is very similar to a Halo energy sword...my cousin is into that **** of a game and it is a halo energy sword rip.

And since he is a fan of Halo, he played Halo Wars.

Google pics of Halo Wars and tell me that the Atlas isn't a rip from that.

And of course combat is Gears of War. With biotics! Why, oh why, isn't the shooting based off of statistics??? PC skill, not human skill? Are you kidding me??

Wait....do you even know what I mean when I say PC? I know there are some out there who do, but there are some who don't, either, and that's indicative of the group influencing where the series is going.

Too many people want a Halo/Call of Duty/Gears of War but with Mass Effect's universe.

I quit. Maybe CD Projekt will make a science fiction rpg.

Think about it this way guys...

Around this time back in, oh 2009, how much did we know about Mass Effect 2? From what I recall, not much at all. What we did see, from E3 and onward, was of a really early build of the game.

Fast forward to February of 2010. ME2 releases and becomes the most critically acclaimed video game and RPG of 2010. And everything I played was great.

Now lets put what we know today into perspective. Same as in 2009 with ME2, or a little less, or a little more. I don't know 100% but its around the same. Not saying ME3 will be amazing, but just lets all calm down and not put up a tremendous bar of pre-release info expectations yeah?

NO! I like what I have seen so far. What is important for me is shooting, solve puzzle and upgrading guns and evolving powers. All the romantic thing is just too cheesy and time consuming. I mean the galaxy is burning who have time for romance? I just hope the story is good too.

Lol. Romances are next to go. CoD fans don't want that. Wait until that happens...remember people who called it out and tried to stop it in its early stages.

I'll break it down for people who don't want to read this drivel
He's basically insulting anyone who doesn't love the mako planets from the first and that we're all Call of Duty fans for liking where the game is going.
Go away no one here will miss you.

If all your going to do is insult people for not thinking like you and use every logical fallacy in the book than this place will be better off without you.

And what the hell is wrong with halo? That's my favourite game you're mocking there!

What I find interesting about these kind of topics is that people act like you never shot a gun in ME1, granted if you used biotics you probably didn't need to, but other than that, I recall a lot of shooting in that game. I recall getting weapon mods, so I could shoot some different color bullets, I remember getting armor, so I didn't need to use cover anymore and shoot to my hearts content, with my guns with my overpowered guns with unlimited ammo. Call me crazy, but I think ME1 was pretty shooting heavy, just with inferior shooting mechanics.
