I'm a huge Mass Effect fan, but it seems like they just turned it into a pure shooter with dialogue. The introduction with the omnitool is cheesy. The ending with Shepard waiving the omniblade is cheesy. The new Atlas or whatever gives me nightmarish chills of a game I despise....Halo. So does the omniblade. The premise of this game revolves around saving Earth from an alien invasion. It's clear rpg elements that are allegedly in the game are playing second fiddle by far to the shooting...almost like its thrown in just to appease. Default FemShep got a plastic redo.

I'm pretty sure the series has changed forever...and not for the good. Am I the only one who feels this way? Let's have a respectful discussion.

Can't please everyone.  If they showed more than the combat people would complain there were spoilers so its a double edged sword.
Honestly the combat is the part then needs the most work in the series.  ME2 went the right direction but they need to refine it better. The RPG elements are there they just haven't showed us that much yet.
Besides 7 months away from release and their giving us more coverage than any other game that far away.

As long as the plot isn't as poorly written as ME2 then it should be awesome.

I'm the opposite. The plot better be as good as ME 2 or I'll be unhappy.

How the hell does the Atlas mech remind you of Halo? I think you are just looking for reasons to hate on Halo. Halo is a damn good game and Mass Effect 3 is going to be a damn good game. Action sells. Looking through your inventory and showing a flow chart of all your powers is boring.

I disagree, Im looking forward to it precisely because the shooting and melee options offer something new, that so far seems to blend really well with more traditional rpg options, I personally like that they rid themselves of pointless luck based numbers that are typical to rpgs and adopted a combat system that actually seems fitting to the game.
About femshep all shes got is a default high quality look just like sheploo always had since game 1 instead of a cheap face made on the face creator of the game. She looks like a model of course thats the point, having femshep on even footing with sheploo who is already based on one.

Is it too much to ask that I could go one day, just one day without someone on the BSN complaining about something?

How many people on BSN? couple o' million? Yes, it is too much to ask.

OT: I think ME3 looks great so far. It is hard to tell for most parts though. So I think it is far too early for any judgement whatsoever, posotive or negative.

It feels like they pulled a DA2.

Not quite, Shepard doesn't spin his gun before every shot.

The halo blade certainly gave me pause, but i will wait for reviews and gameplay videos to see if they are going the way i like. The comabt clips look good enough but i would like to see more than just that.

Certainly not going to blindly pre order, especially after the DA:2 fiasco!

Mass Effect 3 looks like the combat has been improved as well as customization with weapons and powers. To me it looks like both the action and the RPG features have only been enhanced. The omni-blade is something forum members asked for with the "Bringing a Knife to Gun Fight" thread which is probably the only reason the omni-blade is being integrated. I would have been fine with a series of different animations as the melee.

Ex. The first time I use a melee attack it is the standard elbow hit. If I use a melee attack quick enough the Shepard smacks the enemy in the face with his/her weapon. Third melee attack used fast enough makes Shepard knock the enemy in the face with a kick.

I'm fine with the omni-blade as long as there is more than one animation for melee attacks. Cover shooting looks even better than before plus there is the improvement of getting from one spot to another.

The RPG is in being able to customize out weapons with mods. I can swap out pieces to make my ideal sniper rifle. Sure it's not as stat based as Mass Effect 1's mod system but that system was God awful. I never used it, because once I finally found the mod I was looking for there we ten other new mods with similar effects and little difference in combat. I mean there were too many mods that pretty much did the same thing. The Mass Effect 3 system looks like it will have everything good about customizing my weapon without that obnoxious clutter.

I haven't seen much of the leveling system though we've been told time and time again that powers evolve more than once.

Don't lose faith in Mass Effect yet. Sure they've thrown in a couple of things which in reality is because of us forum members, but they appear to be doing great work and it looks like a quality game. The new female Shepard is something overdo. Personally I voted for a different female model, I believe it was number 4 the one who looked like Rihanna with a gun, but as long as the female Shepard gets some more attention I'm fine.

You clearly didnt see the Gears of War 3 forum when it exploded from selfish, ungrateful tears 3 days ago when Epic announced the Veteran Gear reward. SO MUCH HATE AND WHINING!

I wonder how long it will take for people to realize all this action-packed, seemingly void-of-story stuff they've been showing of ME3 so far is purely marketing strategy...

ME3 will be fine.  It's this BSN community that always blows sh*t out of proportion.

I know, everyone has their opinions and they are entitled to them and I respect them but...seriously someone being disappointed with ME3 is simply out of my comprehension.

How can you be disappointed when almost every.single.shown.feature is a blatant and clear improvement over it's predecessors?

If I'm understanding this correctly, the forum has a "member number" in every profile's URL. From the recent registers list, this profile is apparently the last person to sign up, and you can see the number 3,360,893 in their profile URL. That's a little over three million. But as there are lots of variables (in terms of activity) involved, it doesn't really matter.

I agree with the OP's topic, if not his reasons.

The Atlas looks far more like some sort of second-rate cut-and-paste Japanese-influenced mech than anything from Halo, and the omni-blade doesn't work anything like Halo's sword (and only has a vaguely similar aesthetic appearance).

Didn't the old forums have around 4 million members? I'd guess, BSN would catch up to that.
Of course, Phoenix is right, You'll have inactive and douuble accounts and all that but still, enough voices around.

I not disappointed with a game I haven't played based of the limited amount of stuff I've seen. But I am disappointed we've only gotten to see combat sequences with the same 2 squad members.

I would like to see more on leveling system, character and squad member customization, etc.

I never fully understood this. If anything, I thought the omniblade more closely resembled the protoss zealot class.

Theres months till release, there not going to drop all the info all at once.  Plus what we have seen improves on alot of what we have seen in ME2.  Yeah there are similarities to other games, but its still unique and refreshing for ME.

Additionally fans got annoyed by how much plot info they gave for ME2 so learnt from that feedback so they are pretty much forced to focus on combat scenes.
