Which I liked, made the game feel more real. You're not going to have the same proficiency with every weapon you use. You train as a sniper shots are easy, you don't it's shaky and harder to use. I really didn't see training on a weapon as wasting points.
It's a little silly when a specialist like Infiltrator who's trained to use sniper rifles must spend time to learn to not be so goddamn shaky, though.
Especially when Shepard is an N7. An elite soldier. Should spend time and points to develop his/her other abilities instead.

The problem was, without the bonus weapon training, I can't use the sniper rifle, because it didn't zoom. While you can still use the shotguns and the AR, the SR was off-limit withouth the training.Aaleel wrote...

I hope they just let us use whatever weapon we want again.
They've already confirmed that we can. Thing is, though, you couldn't really do that in ME1. Oh, sure you could attempt to use weapons you had no training for, but you weren't going to get very far doing that. The only way to really, truly use them was to waste your bonus skill on whatever type of weapon you were interested in.

Most People appearantly either can't or don't read the codex because i saw nobody addressing the point that incinerate wasn't able to bypass shields even though they should.
Because it's gameplay.
Because they are dumb mainstream gamers who didn't understand basic ingame lore.As a side note by dumbing down, i also mean dumbing down,
1. like the total removal of squad armor, economy (expect for planet scanning which for some reason was complained over even by the most loyal fanboys),
2.severe reducing of freedom,
3. the over-simlifications of lore,
4. skills , gameplay and most importantly
5. they entire progression of game.
1. I would not consider squad armor an intelligent design, as handled by Mass Effect 1. The system is based around inequalities, which means recognizing that 5>2. I personally found that more insulting than the complete removal of squad armor.
Better than Spandax A, or Spandax B with no stats at all.
2. If you're referring to the ability to explore planets (which I absolutely hated), you'll have to demonstrate why the game is "dumb" for its exclusion, particularly when most Bioware games have not included this feature.
Nope try better, exploration was just part of that freedom, also you're a bad driver.
3. . Mass Effect was the first installment. The codex's purpose was to introduce the entire universe to the player. Of course it's going to include more codex entries.
But the writers just stuff the entire game full of anti-lore crap, so really that didn't do much.
4. Mass Effect 2's skill system is the same as Mass Effect's, only condensed down.
ME: 12 ranks per skill, 9 of them providing marginal bonuses.
ME2: 4 ranks per skill, all providing significant stat bonuses.
Skills in general are dumbed, in Mass Effect 1 i got talents based on ones military training, in Mass effect 2 i got 'awezum' cartoonish super-powers.
5. I disagree.
Good for you, it's nice to see that people think that by recruiting a bunch of Redshirts is preparation for a suicide mission.
Really.

In which case, we wouldn't have video games. I can point out a million different problems with this argument, using Mass Effect alone. It's hypocritical, at best.

It makes perfect sense. The designers did not want the healing mechanics as implemented by Mass Effect, so they came up with a work around, which still retained the basic function of medigel (to get a soldier back into action).
Hell, if we follow your logic, God help video game sequels anywhere. In KotOR 2, Obsidian added new powers, feats, and lightsaber forms. Should we call this a retcon since KotOR 1 characters couldn't use any of that? Or how about we accept the logic behind the alterations?
But when my character is heaviliy wounded hiding behind a wall to recover health it doesn't heal him, and why can't Shepard be revived, give squadmates a meaningfull role, you would think that one well placed burst would kill Miranda out right, but she is only knocked out.
Again, stop playing the hypocrite. This is an issue present in Mass Effect. The game reloads when Shepard dies.

I agree. At least the Infiltrator could still use the Assault Rifle wihout the training. If Shepard wasn't a Soldier or an Infiltrator, he can't even zoom with the SR.Someone With Mass wrote...

I agree they should have given you points out the box in certain weapons depending on the job, but at least there weren't weapons you would end up the game never having access to.

They wanted to make things different, so the decided to just retcon it, even though it plainly contradicts earlier info.

Which doesn't make any sense, Medigel is there to heal people's wounds, but now all the sudden it requires to be upgraded, without any kind of explanations, this this probably the most obivious retcon in the game as it directly contradicts for what is said in game.
It's not a retcon.
Trauma Module (Medical VI)
A standard first-aid interface can stabilize a badly-wounded soldier, preventing death from all but the most serious wounds. The base technology, however, is ineffective on conscious soldiers who are currently taking fire, as each pain signal resets the process.A trauma module separates the medi-gel administration into two layers: active and passive. The active layer constantly distributes small amounts of medi-gel to fresh wound sites. The passive layer handles major deployment to incapacitating wounds. When large amounts of medi-gel are deployed to incapacitated squad members, fighting members are also healed.
Medi-gel does not heal all wounds the soldier sustained.
This upgrade merely improves that.
Also:
Medi-Gel Capacity 1 - 6 (Microscanner)
All modern combat armor incorporates a first-aid interface. Microprocessors in this interface monitor vital functions and release small localized doses of medi-gel to accelerate the healing process. Manually timed heavy doses of medi-gel can be released in response to major trauma; however, the efficiency of this is dependent on proprietary medical software that cannot be copied and is prohibitively expensive. Cerberus has developed its own software and is actively working to improve its efficiency.
It makes it more effecient than just applying medi-gel manually.
That's all.

A wondrous melange of fallacy, cherry-picked evidence, uncritical ME1 nostalgia, and hypocrisy, which achieve their greatest and most lulzy heights when coupled with lunatic theorizing cribbed from ZuluDFA. An internets romp that's fun for the whole family! Or something.

So Normal Medigel, can bring back incapacitated people, but not someone who is lightly wouned trying to increase his change of surviving?
The whole upgrade system is garbage anyway.

I see that you can't tell the difference between gameplay and lore mechanics. Which makes it pointless to argue about anything.
There's nothing to discuss.
