Same.

Some things in ME3 look encouraging.  The return of mods.  Greater degree of customizaton in skill trees, armor customization,  teh culmination of a galaxy-spanning story, supposedly complete with actual consequences for past actions (I'm skeptical about this though)

However so far all I'm seeing is "Shepard can shoot people.  Shepard can stab people.  Shepard can blow stuff up"  This may be a hybrid, genre-blurring game, but so far it's being presented as nothing more than a high octane action-shooter.  Color me unimpressed.

I'm definitely getting mixed signals about the direction ME3 is going.  And the direction ME2 went (where the game's storyline doens't matter as much as being able to shoot things) has me especially concerned.

Erm, didn't you make a thread just like this a few weeks ago?

Nope. Looking forward to ME3. Gonna go all out for it. N7 hoodie and coffee out of an ME mug, followed by Afterburners in a custom shotglass.

The only thing I don't like is that they're taking so long to show Vanguard stuff.

Action sells. True story.

Just because they're focusing on the action for marketing doesn't mean that ME3 is going to be a pure action game. In the words of Cutler Beckett, "It's just good business".

I never fully understood this. If anything, I thought the omniblade more closely resembled the protoss zealot class.

Neither is very complimentary ;)

To me it looks like a blade, but a glowing, holographic blade.  Which is ridiculous.  I know it's not supposed to be a hologram.  But it still looks like one.  That's not good.

Why should making choices matter? This is the part where all of your previous choices unshackle. Hell yeah! Bring on the combat!

Theres months till release, there not going to drop all the info all at once.  Plus what we have seen improves on alot of what we have seen.  Yeah there are similarities to other games, but its still unique and refreshing for ME.

Additionally fans got annoyed by how much plot info they gave for ME2 so learnt from that feedback so they are pretty much forced to focus on combat scenes.

I'll never understand this.  If you're reading or watching something and they start going into something you'd rather not know about, Stop reading or cut off the stream.  No one forced these people to sit there and read or listen to this stuff.

It's not always that easy, since spoilers can crop up at any time in the most unexpected places online. In this case, if Bioware had never revealed Shepard's death, there wouldn't have been a problem.

A lot of the new ME3 features reak of features from other games: e.g.

Omni-blade ---> Assassin's Creed
Atlas ---> Halo

Not that I care, I play majoritly for story/characterisation anyway. As long as I can still shoot things and use biotic powers on em', I'm good. They wouldn't be the first company to be 'inspired' from other games anyway.

I also really like the omni-blade and hope it's an option for vanguards. @_@

you mean watching a trailer and not expecting it to tell you shepard dies? or the archangel - garrus reveal? or that you recruit grunt instead of okeer?

all of that was pretty unavoidable, you didnt have to look for those spoilers, they were just right out in front. i cant even imagine how crazy the intro to ME2 would have been if i didnt know shepard dies and the normandy gets destroyed.

its just flat out there in the damn launch trailer lol

And, weren't the other games shooters with dialogs, at least mostly?

Marketing does not necessarily shows what the game truly holds, its purpose is to attract as many people as possible.

Am I the only person who thinks the Omni Blade looks awesome beyond words?  different and Mass Effect is in a different universe than our own.  Someone in Mass Effect could look at old holo vids of someone pulling out a switch blade and going that looks stupid .

The Protoss are bloody awesome so anything that reminds me of them is VERY complimentary in my book.

Yeah I had the ending to LA Noire thrown in my face because some troll decided to spam it as the thread title of 100 threads one day in the GTA forums I was going there to talk about GTA....  Spoilers can come out of nowhere and sometimes you don't see it coming until its too late.  I'm not the type who goes "OMG THAT HAD A TINY BIT OF DIALOG ITS SPOILERS" but some people don't like cut ourselves off from the community just to avoid it.

It comes from one of those war games, I don't know, I haven't played a lot of them. I know I've seen in before. Anyway, doesn't matter either way. It's from another game, yes, but it's cool and that 'CRUNCH' you hear? So satisfying.

The marketing is heavily focused on combat and "rpg," but the devs said this would likely be the case, leaving story elements out of the ad campaign this go around.

I had the ending (part of it anyway) of Red Dead Redemption spoiled for me because some guy was too stupid to realize how wrong it is to put spoilers in your thread titles.

The fanbase has kind of caused some of this issue in terms of the marketing/what they're showing off. People are so adamant about no spoilers/being surprised that if you elimintate being able to show much story/RPG goodness aside from mechanics additions [evolved powers/weapon modding, etc] - what are you left with to show? Combat. Granted I'd like to see them show some different squaddies for their demos, but besides these teasers with a combat focus, what else can they show w/o the fanbase erupting in "OMG SPOILERS!" - ME2 had alot more variety to it's trailers and what they showed off at E3 and this only resulted in tons of threads on the forums about "OMG you spoiled the Normandy blowing up!" or "OMG why are you showing us plot points in the trailers?!" - damned if you do, damned if you don't :\\

Im pretty stunned at how horrible the animations are. I hope its just that they werent final because Liara walking anim was seriously unsettling to watch.

The entire "Squad Leader" trailer felt like a B tier machinima.

It kinda reminded me of the Character Reveal trailers for ME2. Remember the ones for Miranda? The gameplay animation and graphics were horrible in that trailer.

Who ever said the concept of originality still existed? It's more a matter of, how you can make it LOOK original. Everything is stolen these days. Heck, even the concept of Shepard is based off a few hundred year process of making 'heroes'.

I'm just saying Atlas, Omni-blade, etc. doesn't look as original as it could've been.

Eh, I don't see why. I like both Halo and Starcraft, and Assassin's Creed for those so inclined. In Mass Effect's case, the tech (from an aesthetic perspective) isn't so unusual that it ruins my suspension of disbelief.

Ugh, you have my sympathies on that. And it's absolutely ****ty when it happens. I remember my brother having KotOR spoiled for him on a random internet forum. I spent several days in mourning afterward.
