It's the voice.

Nah. Comic book characters don't have voices, and genderless sentient comic book characters are all still male. Novel characters don't have voices, and robots in scifi stories are all still male unless the story explicitly calls for them to be female.

Not sure where you're getting "stereotypical gay male" for Shale. It's not like she's got a lisp.

I think for giggles, Legion and EDI should swap each others voices to screw with the organics and their silly social ideas.

Because Legion is all about filling holes.

I'm not bothered by people calling Legion and EDI "he" or "she". It'd be daft if the machines themselves did it though.

How about we refer to Legion as an appliance?

I think that puts the appliance into perspective rather nicely.

"you guys" is irrelevant to gender. It sounds alot better than "you humans" and is alot shorter than "you guys and girls"

Daft?  That depends entirely on programming or self identification.  If a machine was created to think of itself as female or decided to identify as such,  I don't see it as particularly daft.  Sure,  they don't have the correct bits but there is more to gender identity than sexual organs.

As others have said, Legion is correctly refered to as "they", or "them."

EDI is a "she" because she is a ship. All ships are female.

That, is an intriguing notion.

Edit: I suppose i should add some more: I agree with the idea that gender identity is more than sexual organs . What i find interesting is "why" it would choose a gender and what would it achieve; Not that there is any better or worst.

I know Legion isn't male, but I still call Legion "he".
That is because of a few reasons. It is much more easier to understand and personify (which makes a character more likable) a character when you can define them as a he or she.

Also, it is easier to think about. It's kind of hard to get your head around the fact that Legion is neither gender and has thousands of Geth inside his platform. It's also easier to just say "he" or "she", instead of "they".

Also, Legion has masculine traits. For one thing, Legion has a male voice, they also have an undoubtedly masculine looking body, or "platform". Legion has very broad shoulders. :P

I don't like referring to Legion as an "it" because that sounds like he is an object, or it maybe even a derogatory term. I'm too fond of Legion to call them "it".

Try, "you people"? Sounds better than "you humans"

Lol j/k. I agree with you. OP obviously just wants something to complain about.

Well, no one reacts when Zaeed talks about his beloved Jessie, so what's the problem with calling Legion a "him"?
