Hello, this is my first post here. The only reason I am compelled to register, (I have been playing ME and DA for two years now) is because Fenris sucks hardcore. This makes me believe that all 2 handed builds suck, becuase the one I have is pretty well build.

I am Level 18 on my first character right now. At first, Fenris had 40 Strength, and he was only dealing out like 50 damage per hit, every few seconds. Merrile was doing more damage with her basic attacks, with only 30 Magic. So, I changed up his stats, and now he has about 30 strength, about 25 constitution, and about 20 Willpower, with the Vanguard class maxed, and all but Reaper in the basic. His Talents, admittably, do decent damage, but they take too long to recharge, and I only have 2 of them. Besides that, even with Control and Cleave, he only deals about 70 damage per hit.

Aside from the fact that he still drops like a fly in combat, he cannot handle even 1 guy by himself. Even hitting two people at once, he gets wrecked. Considering my Rogue Hawke can deal out 200 damage in a matter of seconds, I have concluded that powerhouse Rogues are far better than two handed Warriors.

However, this is only my first playthrough, although I played DA:O extensively. I never liked 2 handed warriors, and I fail to see how anyone can consider them overpowered? What am I doing wrong?

Yes, I realize Hawke is WAY overpowered, but still, Fenris should be ishing out more damage.

Thanks for any replies. Hail Mass Effect 3.

Well a well-built 2h warrior can retty much drop any enemy (or whole encounter for that matter) in like 10 seconds flat. If your not getting results your doing it wrong.

Now Fenris is a bit sucky, especially post-patch but he still is workable.

As a Hawke 2h warrior though your dmg output from Vanguard/Berserker/Reaver or whatever combo thereof, is immense. Insanely high attack seeds are possible, throw in an elemtnal weapon and Cleave and whole groups of enemies should be dead in a blur followed by red mist.

Look at some of the guides on this forum. Arelex's is pretty awesome, and has tons of good info(taught me a lot)

Two handed warriors were scaled back a bit with the latest patch.

Still, they do good aoe damage, and are quite deadly with haste, barrage, and similar means of boosting their attack speed. Many times my two handed Hawke would be engaged with an elite or boss enemy and their nearby minions would die in the process just from the aoe from Hawke's two handed abilities. Scythe and Whirlwind are always fun to use. Go templar and you can shut down many dangerous enemies with cleanse, silence and holy smite. While I didn't play DA2 before the recent patch, I never thought my two handed warrior was anything but powerful.

Fenris could probably use more strength. Since warriors have access to second breath and bolster, they don't need too much willpower. By the end of DA2+Legacy, my warrior Hawke had around 70 strength, 20 willpower and 40 constitution. Also, have him activate might, while one of the mages uses heroic/valiant aura.

While Fenris does indeed suck ( I would put him in the low-tier of party members along with Isabella and Sebastian… though not as worse as them), you’re simply building him wrong. Maxing vanguard is a good idea. Putting points into battlemaster (upgraded rally if you have mages and upgraded second wind) is also a good idea. A few points into his personal tree (the reaver like abilities and the sustain are the real gems) and two-handed (sunder is bugged so avoid it) is also a good idea. If you need him for stagger and more threat management (if you’re playing a mage/warrior hawke), then you might be forced to put a few points there too. Avoid the defender tree. You’re wasting points in con and will. Str should be your main priority until you don’t glance at least versus mobs. Better if it’s also against elites and bosses. The next priority is dex. You’d want to get the crit% up for more dps and to catch up with your crit dmg.

Tanking then healing as a main strategy in battle is the inefficient way to go. Crowd control and killing enemies quicker (by maxing dps) is the more efficient way to tackle battles.
