I thought he'll do it for free? Is there actually a difference whether you paid him or not? I tried this on the drakescale armor and there was no difference I could see.

I don't think you have to pay him the first time; however, the second time you have to pay him to get Superior. Paying him the second time also gets you better dragon armor. I think the mana boost or what ever.

dont know if there is any commands for the console, but you should be able to make some with the toolset, if it is anything like the toolset for NeverWinter Nights.

I just experimented with a ton of reloads and save games to see if there is any difference in paying Wade or not paying him.

Short answer:  no difference at all in either the 2nd or 3rd set

The only difference is the 2nd set takes longer if you pay him the 20 gold.  Without paying him I could simply exit his store and re-enter to get my armor.  If I pay him I had to travel to a different section of the map then return.  Same exact sets of armor regardless of paying or not.  Weird.

The 3rd set was the same thing.  Regardless of whether I paid him or not for the 2nd set, I ended up with the exact same set of 3rd tier gear.

Just for the sake of thoroughness I should also mention that I did pay the 10g for the 1st set.  So that is not messing anything up.

Have to ask, are you talking about the item itself being superior or the set bonus? Because it's the *set* that get extra when you give him a tip. It's +5 to defence.

To get the Wade's Superior Dragonscale you do need to pay at some point.

For the Drakeskin part, the first 3 drakescales you give will always yield the regular set, whether you pay or not. The second 3 drakescales will always yield the superior set, whether you pay or not.

The difference comes when you give him the dragonscale. If you paid for the first two drakescale sets, he will automatically make a superior dragonscale set. There may be other payment combinations to get him to make a superior dragonscale set, but that one always works. I think if you do not pay for either drakescale set you can opt to pay for the dragonscale set and it will then turn out superior.

Anyway, it is worth getting Wade's Superior Dragonscale as it is, in general, the best tanking armour in the game. It has a great set bonus, great armour rating, and excellent fire resistance.

In the Sacred Ashes quest, you see a high dragon. You should have recieved a horn of some sort that you can use to summon the dragon. Kill it, and you can loot dragon scale off its corpse.

During the Urn of the Sacred Ashes quest, you run into a guy named Kolgrim, the leader of the Cult of Andraste. At some point you need to kill him to get a horn (either after helping him or when you refuse to help him).

Once you get the horn, go to the mountain top where the dragon flying around scene happens and use it to blow it. Once you blow it, prepare to fight a pissed-off high dragon.

If you win, you get a ton of loot including the dragonscale.

I'm not sure you can do this if you side with the Cult of Andraste.  So, if you sided with them, you can't fight the High Dragon.  Though...I only sided with them once to unlock Reaver and reloaded right after to not side with them, so I don't know for sure.

You can side with the cult and perform their deeds, then once Reaver is unlocked you can still kill them and get the High Dragon summoning item and another Drake Scale (I had 7 when I went to Wade and I still have 1 on me now ages after I got all my armors). Summon and kill High Dragon and get your Dragon Scale.

Go to Wade's, and if you want, before asking anything else, ask if he can make Dragon scale armor and he'll say he's not skilled enough and need to practice first (this is optional to do I'd say, hehe). Say you have Drake scales and pay the 10 gold. Why? Because if you never pay him, you don't get the Superior set from the Dragon Scale, but a regular version wich don't give the great stamina regen (at least that's the extra for Dragonbone). Say you got more drake scales and don't bother paying as it has no effect on the set from the Dragon Scale (if you at least paid 10 on the first set) and it will not affect how the Superior set you get from the second batch of Drake Scales turns out. Then say you got a Dragon Scale and the result will be Wade's Superior Dragon* armor. So unless you don't care about the Superior version, the cheapest way would be to pay the first time 10 G instead of 20 G on the second set. (Note: I did not check if the item set bonus were different if you paid for all parts, wich could be possible, but I don't really think it will be.)

To the OP, sorry--I don't know how you would spawn the set in your inventory I'm afraid. You have no saves in any form (quick, auto or manual) that you can use to reload back in time before handing in the scales? I did that when I at first weren't aware of the Fade wall being a 'rare drop' from Gaxkang, but found out about it at a later point. But I were lucky though I guess that one of the auto-saves were still before I had killed him.

Wade seems to be buggy. I got 6 drake scales from the Urn quest, and when I took them to Denerim, Wade acted as if I had already spoken to him about drake scales and brushed him off, a la "She's back! She's back! Have you changed your mind?" I paid him the 10g for the first set but my journal says he's doing it for free.

I killed Kolgrim last night and I got the horn, but I didn't use it yet. I'll get dragonscale off that dragon? Awesome. Thanks! I did go to Wade with the drake scales, and I paid him both times.

I believe that people are wrong when they say there's no difference in Superior and non-Superior.

With my first drakeskin armor set, I didn't pay the twenty gold. With my second drakeskin, I did. The Superior one gave a total of 70% fire resistance while the other gave only 35%.

So, I just defeated the high dragon after much duress. I didn't pay Wade for the first two sets of light drake scale armor I now have. Am I then, doomed to only get mediocre dragon scale armor? I've not been able to find a sure-fire answer. Since I am a dual wield warrior, should I get the medium dragon scale armor or something heavier? As of now the best suits of armor I have are Juggernaut and Blood Dragon, everything else after that is very mediocre. I sometimes swap pieces between members as I need to, which feels pretty bad. Any clues?

to receive the perfect set- you have to pay 10G for 3 drake scales the first time. 20G for 3 drake scales the second time. Then finally hand over the 1 dragon scale for the perfected last set.
