Their Base is massive but not so huge it could host millions and it seems they have only one ship .
They always drop in in small groups in battles, as if Harbinger can only spare a few at a time .
After 50,000 years of genetic modifications and casualties from various missions and experiments, what could be the Collector population ?

seems like they don't actually need much of a population. their evolution into perfect tools wouldn't necessarily mean they need numbers as well. i would think their numbers are low and strictly controlled as that would make sense to me if i was using a specifically designed race of creatures as tools. they have the tech to get on with their job without needing huge numbers and their job needs to be 'secret' for the hibernation period, they're not an army and they seem to be able to replenish their numbers pretty quick.
