Seriously, how do you want us to defeat the Reapers?

I'm betting that there is going to be an entire series of things you have to do to bring the Reapers down.
1. Strategically divert them somewhere.
2. Commandeer a big reaper shell yourself somehow and fight a few of them with their own tech.
3. Also, I'm sure some things will depend on whether or not you gave Cerberus the Collector Base...
4. ?

I think some of us are not paying attention to the word "seriously" but then with this crowd, that's not entirely unexpected.

:innocent:

Find the AutobotGeth Matrix of Leadership and unleash it!
Legion: Shepard-Commander. You have the Touch. You have the Power.

More seriously, I suspect the Thanix cannon might actually hurt them, though I don't think it's a one-shot one-kill sort of thing. Unless my earlier suggestion of upgrading the Destiny Ascension is taken seriously.

Honestly, the way I'd like to see us defeat the reapers is to fit hundreds, maybe thousands of fighters with quantum entanglement control relays and FTL drive cores, load them down with a kilo of antimatter each, then let EDI use them as guided FTL missiles. After than, you let physics take over.

And what would 1 kilo of antimatter do exactly? that's 2 lbs basicly, and antimatter isn't some awesome explose megaweapon either, in theory it destroys regular matter of the same composition, like anti-helium will destroy helium and vice versa so in essence you'd have to make something the same size and composition as a reaper out of anti-matter and then ram it in in order to completely destroy a reaper in that way, a kilo wouldn't make a dent.

1 kilogram of antimatter coming into contact with 1 kilogram of matter, like, say, the containment vessel that shattered on impact, would yield an explosion equivelent to just under 43 megatons of TNT.  I don't care how tough the Reapers are.  a 43 megaton contact explosion WILL tickle them, and not in a good and healthy way, from their perspective.  The thing about antimatter is, that when it comes into contact with regular matter, both matter and antimatter are converted to energy.  To get the energy release, you multiply the mass of antimatter by two (mass of antimatter plus mass of matter) then multiply by the vacuum speed of light squared.  You might recognize the formula.  E(rest)=MC^2 or, as it's more commonly written, E=MC^2.

In other words, big explosion.  Lots of energy flying around.  Most of it hard, hard gamma, which had really bad effects on organics, electronics and pretty much anything it comes in contact with.  The gamma rays would fry the Reapers technological and organic systems, and screw with the integrity of their hulls and structural members.

Then there's the fact that you're hitting them with a fighter at FTL.

Trust me, the Reapers ain't gonna enjoy it, any way you wanna look at it.

What are you talking about? a Mass Effect dreadnought's railgun already has that kind of firepower and it proved to be quite worthless against sovereign until it was stunned by Sarens death..

Ending #1 The cycle continues and the Reapers harvest the galaxy of organic life.

Ending #2 Humanity with the help of the other organic races defeat the Reapers and the galaxy is safe forever.

Ending #3 The war is so intense that the entire galaxy becomes nearly exstinct.

To me those are the three most logical endings (in my opinion) and because this is the end of the trilogy all 3 of those endings are a possibility in this game. Of course your actions through out the game would decide what ending you get.

According to PC Gamer we will win, but our choices will determine just how bad the outcome will be for us so option 1 goes right out the window.

"Defeat means friendship" We'll defeat a reaper and it will help us because deep down it just wants to be a florist, or bartender instead of a homocidal killing-machine.

I jest...but we won't be taking them all out directly, deus ex machinas are inevitable.

Midway through Mass Effect 3 Shepard finds out that he's half Reaper, thus allowing him to float into space and battle them.

After hampering Reaper plans repeatedly Shepard just flies the Normandy into the lead fleet of Reapers where Harbringer resides.
Reapers dont touch the Normandy cause they have learned to respect and fear her.

Shepard boards Harbringer and discovers...
A room filled with holograms showing the progress of the Reaper invasion. Thousands of worlds falling and dying...
Inside that room is a chair with a skeleton
Harbringer informs Shepard that all Reapers have such a room in which they assimilate they essence of those they deem worthy... Harbringer assimilated the defender of the world that disabled the Reaper you get the IFF from

The finale being Harbringer assimilating Shepard and the outcome resting on your choice...

Dominate Harbringer / Join the Reapers and exterminate the galaxy
Dominate Harbringer / Join the Reapers and rule the galaxy
Dominate Harbringer / Destroy the Reapers and free the galaxy
Dominate Harbringer / Indoctrinate the Reapers with force of will to serve the galaxy

Alternatively, have Shepard sacrifice himself and the Reapers seeing the error of their ways.
Worked for Neo... oh wait... that movie sucked.

Seriously, deus ex machina is likely to be the only way the Reapers are going to be beaten.

My old post on how to beat the Reapers.

Remember, we know you can knock the power out of a Reaper by shooting it in the eezo core...  That sleeping Reaper, once it lost power, tumbled into the gas giant.  The Council races "simply" have to do board each Reaper, one by one, and nuke the core.  Reaper powers down.  Reaper is dead.

The key is going to be coordination and having all the races buy in at once, rather than turn on their fellow sapiens to save their own skins (and end up reaped in the end anyways).  The key to the coordination is going to be Shepard.

You can avoid Deus Ex Machina by avoiding magically appearing forces to save the day. Shepard using Reaper research against them or finding ancient research/knowledge to use against them isn't Deus Ex Machina and should be part of the plot. There shouldn't be a sleeping uber race more godly than the Reapers who swoop down to save the day, leaving Shepard and friends at the sidelines. I would even like to see a win situation where you can just use brute force and still get a pyrrhic victory (with max allies and thanix cannons or blowing up relays etc.)

Supposedly they have a weakness and we need to find out what is over the course of the game.

Well since their made of Metal, I'd assume that Fighting type attack should be super effective.

So let's just get someone to karate chop the bastards.

I think they have 'bug' as secondary type (they look like scarabs), which means 'fighting' type is not going to help us.

What we need is a Charizard...

The Reaper weakness is Harbringers obsession with Shepard.

Shepard just needs to taunt Harby a few times and then run. Harby will then start making long rambles like "I'll chase him around Earth, Terminus and Perdition's flames before I give him up."

To reach that upper level, [and defeat the reapers]
your mind, body and soul must be one.

It's a sacrifice, it takes hard work,
It's a way of life.

So, before I begin, I would just like to say that there are those of you who think that we should lose no matter what. If that is your opinion, great (personally I think that the option to fail should exist, but so should the option to win).

Okay, so how do you want the Reapers to be defeated? Personally, I don't see how it's possible without some form of *shudders* deus ex machina. That's the problem with an "unstoppable" force, if you build them up too much, then a 'coventional' defeat because unlikely/improbable.

So what are your opinions?

Oh oh! I know!!

We could talk it out! Maybe convince the reapers that we're not so bad by curing one of the sick "programs" within them, then maybe they'd agree to let us out of the mat--.... err... um.... <.<;;

Maybe Shepard finds this super secret super weapon by the Protheans that destroys all the reapers. But if Shepard activates it, not only will it destroy the Reapers, but every single, life form in the galaxy (humans, asari, etc). I don't know but this is what popped into my mind after playing through Halo 3 this morning. =P

So... have Nanoha Takamachi "befriend" the Reapers? ;)

Half-serious suggestion will be one I've made before: Bolos.

Step one: warm up the Thanix Cannon
Step two: put Wrex In the Thanix Cannon
Step Three: Fire the thaniz cannon at Reaper fleet

Organics win!
