Seriously, how do you want us to defeat the Reapers?

The reapers are obviously somewhat vulnerable to even "modern" technology, or they wouldn't have bothered with the whole plan to use the Citadel for a surprise attack. If they had originally thought they could just barge in and defeat organic life with ease, why all the sneaking around, especially after the keepers could only be controlled via the Citadel? Bottom line, if the Reapers were truly undefeatable, they wouldn't bother with a sneak attack.

It's easy: Reprogram the mass relay network so that their IFFs don't work properly, and they're trapped in isolated star systems, where they can be picked off at our leisure.

Shep an co will board an inert/stunned/distracted reaper and fight their way to its core where Shepard will merge with it through his cybernetics and have a battle of wills. Once he is victorious he will assume direct control of the reapers form and go one man army on the entire reaper fleet.

Um well ...

* disrupt concensus among the Reapers (aka I Borg) Posted Image

* introduce nerve elements into the Reapers (You Will Feel Pain; Harbinger), this would require sentient sacrifices to interface with a Reaper/s, shaking them up to the meaning of Life

* introduce a viral into the Reaper network (they communicate, don't they? Surely it's not via telepathy) that change a certain numerical value Posted Image   or make them concentrate in calculating mathematical problems to the exclusioin of all esle. We'll get a thousand large calculators in space, technological leap forward! Posted Image

* if dark energy can be used (Haestrom), use it to lure Reapers into traps to decimate their numbers, would require viable systems to be lost

* find a way to multiply arc projector a thosuand times to zap the Reapers Posted Image

* sabotage the mass relays so that the Reapers ended getting flung into unexpected places, a black hole preferably (but expected by the good guys)

Sabotage a Mass Relay, send the Reapers into a star or black hole when they use it.

Given that the Arc Projector is my favorite heavy weapon, I can't help but support this!

Maybe build a dreadnought sized omni-blade and stab the Reapers instead!

Seriously though, I figure Dark Energy was brought up for a reason in ME2 so that'll likely be a part of it.

Also, without reading prior posts, I see you and I had the same idea about shooting them into black holes with the relays.

Oh I figure since the Reapers has such a  high-falutin' arrogance and confidence about the invincibility of their technology and the stupidity of organics, why not find a way to turn it against them? A very good way of showing them the ********. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

After thinking about this thread for a few days I have come to only one conclusion: not possible.

I have the sneaky suspicion that ME3 is just the foreword to a greater battle that looms ahead. Just surviving the initial contact with the reapers is looking grim for team organic.

I'm not normally the gambling sort but I'd wager a expensive steak dinner that the Reapers are beaten using their own relays against them.

BW has been quite specific that this game is a trllogy and that ME3 will end with a conclusion of some kind.  Will tehre be future ME games of some sort be it MMORPG or straight up shooter?   Who knows but as far as I know, ME3 will conclude this story.

Supposedly they have a weakness and we need to find out what is over the course of the game.

Well since their made of Metal, I'd assume that Fighting type attack should be super effective.

So let's just get someone to karate chop the bastards.

+1

Exactly what I've thought since the first Mass Effect.

Thought it was Shepard's story? Anyway, guess we'll find out in March.

I'm hoping it's a matter of time and persistence, i.e you cannot win if you go around trying to save your squad member's cat from a planet in some random ass system.

I honestly like the idea of manipulating the Relay Network. I found it interesting that in ME1 that the Protheans were able to get enough of an understanding of the relay to build a smaller scale version. (the conduit) The Matriarch bartender referenced the notion of building new Mass Relays which I found curious. If anything, I honestly think that Relay manipulation may play a huge factor in dealing with the Reapers.

For the sake of preserving the galaxy from being scarred by a galactic war, Shepard vs Harbinger in a one on one fight, shirts off, bare knuckles, two will enter, one will leave.

*Spoilers* Isn't it obvious? It all depends on your Registered Bioware Game History, and Paragon or Regenade scores. Here's all the outcomes:
(Renegade)Shepard gets tired of the reapers disingenuous assertions, thus gets irritated, and punching all Reapers to oblivion.(Must have played ME2)
(Paragon)Varric tells the story of a guy that could take all the coin out of anyone's pocket by just looking at them, to the Turian Council member inspiring him to convince the Reapers that they aren't existent, so convinced, the Reapers decide to kill themselves.(Must have played DA2)
(Neutral)Shepard launches the Normandy using a mass relay and luckily destroys one whose explosion does collateral damage killing all other Reapers. But at what cost? None because he did a dark ritual with Morrigan. (Must have played DAO)
(Alt. Renegade)Shepard Launches Ser Pounce-A-Lot at the reapers, whom all die.Anders is sad again.(Must have played DA:A)
(Alt. Paragon)Shepard convinces Reapers to kill themselves, one survives, transforms and annoying jumps all over the place.(Must have played ME1)
(Alt. Neutral)Step 1:Tali removes her mask to distract the Reapers,Step 2:Miranda is launched ass first into the fray, the Reapers are all dead,Step 3:Profit(Default)

Separation is their weakness. Cut their inter-specieship comm link and they are kittens. How? Shepard will show you.

Has Nobody ever seen the movie "Independence Day"?
Everybody knows that every alien species has a Mothership right? Solution: Hijack the Reaper that crashed at Roswell, fly up to the mothership and implant a virus that will filter down into the other Reapers disabling their shields, then we launch a nuke from our stolen Reaper into the heart of the mother ship then gtfo of there quick.

I want the same feeling I had at the end of Return of the Jedi before the "special" addition of young Anakin Skywalker
