People can voice their dissent maturely, as the quote shows.

You kidding?  The quote was an exercise in the kind of teenage immaturity that too many people excel at nowadays: Talking about what they are owed for free by companies that they did not create or invest in*. Please.

*buying a video game or two from a company doesn't mean you invested in it, child.

You have to admit its a whole hell of a lot more mature than some of the other folks who're angry.

I've seen some crazy stuff from angry folks during the first poll, and now during the second.

I thought both uproars are stupid, for exactly the same reasons.

This is a vote for what the person in the trailer will look like. The FemShep you carried for two games will still be there for 3. Or you can create a new face. Or you can start a MaleShep. This vote isn't restricting anyone's choice.

I didn't like the blonde shep, but I put a banner in my sig with her pictures that said 'deal with it', because the argument was dumb.  It was dumb then and it's dumb now.

Peoples, Bioware is a fantastic company that's decided to represent it's FemShep players by giving them a trailer, even though FemSheps make up less than 20% of the fanbase!!!  Rejoice and be glad!  Stop crying about how the Ferrari you were given isn't the right color. Ugh.

Obviously. But the feeling can't be shaked by some people.

*shrugs* Oh well then. If many want to feel depressed by this decision then they can go ahead. I've pretty much dealt with it.

Hay guyz, Bioware just called. They decided that since Bioware fans in general are such unsatisfiable whiny, worthless little ****s that UglyShep is the new default for both male and female. Enjoy.

That wouldn't be such a bad idea. They're probably sitting down having their meetings and talking about this actually.

I mean, SOMEONE over at Bioware HQ had to bring up the, "Are we doing this because we want to give the players more choice, or are we doing this because we're caving in to the Blonde hate?" argument.

Or maybe they read all the comments from people saying they only chose the blond because of her hair style and decided to see if that were the case? I mean, as far as them caving in because of the hate--they would be doing that on every single aspect of every single game, DLC or decision they made. This entire board is full of complaints and rage.

Honestly LP, it's time to let this one go man. Does it suck? Kinda. But it's not worth obsessing over and you've already spent all day in this thread on it. The truth is that however much it might seem to validate the "we hate blondes" crowd, I think the results of the poll show that Bioware ultimately made the right call. A lot of people only voted for the hairstyle, not the color in particular. If number 2 had been blonde and number 5 had been a red-head, 5 still would have won, probably by a greater margin. Bioware apparently didn't take that into consideration, and so they are trying to make sure people get a chance to vote for what they wanted.

At the end of the day, it's entirely cosmetic, and those of us who played our original Femshep's through 1 and 2 won't ever see her in game. It's a popularity contest, and it really affects nothing in the larger scope of things. While the chance to stick it to biased jerks who had it coming has been lost, we need not fear. They will provide us plenty of opportunity to stick it to them again in the future. On that score, at least, we can be confident.

Well, they DID cave in to elevator hate and Mako hate, for example.

Hell, they said they loved the idea of elevators being masked loading screens, and they still changed it because enough whiners were loud and got their attention. Mako? Same thing. Although I think they didn't like it as much as elevators in the context of what they were used for.

So pfft. :P

Generic face model is inferior to the Bioware canon face, it was the same issue in DA2 as well. I couldn't care less about the trailer. It's about the character I'll have to play in the game.

Mods enabled other hair colors in DA2's canon face but that was compatible with all colors. Now this redhead with freckles will look totally ridiculous with anything other than red hair.

Ha ha, this. So much this.

The funny thing is, that though I loath the BSN boards for the whiny childish entitlement that so many display here, that it's obvious that Bioware listens to that childishness, filters it through their awesomeness, and makes thier games better. And what they make before the whining is so incredible to begin with, that it boggles the mind. Being an employee at Bioware seems like the most thankless job imaginable. It's like, you present the world with a Rembrant, and they complain that it's not the Cistine Chapel. So you create a Cistine Chapel, and they complain that it's not a Taj Mahal. No matter how incredibly amazingly great your creation, people on these boards will always tell you that it sucks.

Yeah I've never figured out the liking system on Facebook, but whatever..

Has anyone else noticed that, Redhead shep is the only mondel that's different from the other three? They gave her freckles and a different complexsion.. What gives?

I'd vote for black/brown if I could. I have to say that, I probably would be more okay with this poll if it weren't going in favor for the red-head. Iono.. Red hair has never been my thing, especially when it's THAT red.. Looks like someone dyed her to match a redvelvet cupcake. I personally would have been more happy with the blonde, but.. I do remember asking for them to alter it's color so... What can I say... Becareful what you wish for.

Sorry. I'm a Prince, I was raised to keep fighting for my desires and needs. I was ALSO raised to lose a fight if it meant you won the "war", and that losing isn't always a bad thing and is sometimes necessary, but I refuse to sit down and feel uncomfortable about all this and not let everyone know.

I'm just another forumite, like everyone else. But I'll be damned if I do as some others have done(shrug and give up).

I want answers. Maybe I'll get them, maybe I won't. Deus Ex HR is out in a few days, when that's out I won't even be on the forums.

But I'll be back, and we'll see what happens.

But hey, I appreciate the "let it go" sentiment. I completely understand why some would give up.

But I know one thing-

I'm not.

I'm actually more in favor of the redhead Shepard, but the way this was handled makes me feel uncomfortable. I feel like the blonde haters that were slinging around insults and petty stereotypes are sitting back and gloating, thinking they were in the right, even though they are just as idiotic as before. Only now they have Bioware at their back validating their disgusting behavior.
It's like Bioware saw the reaction to the first poll and were like "You know, they might be on to something. Shepard would be too much of a ditzy **** if we made her blonde. What were we thinking?! Re-do!"

I just hope this nonsense is over soon. I'm not really pleased that this was a beauty contest in the first place and the longer it goes on, the more disturbing it gets.

Thank you, that's exactly what I meant to say.

Maybe some of us would feel better if it were something other frothing haranguing posters and twitter messages to devs that lead to this re vote. You shouldnt reward people for being boorish and overwhelming.

To be able to 'like' one of the FemSheps, you first have to go to the Mass Effect page and 'like' it:
http://www.facebook.com/masseffect

Once that's done, you'll be able to like any image they put up.

Depending on who you ask, it's either a Pro-Red Conspiracy, or a result of the artist just going "Redhead, hmmm.  Guess I'll add some freckles and make the eyes green.  OK, done."

Its not giving up if you accept that they made the right call or didn't take it that seriously at all. Many have done that.

Well, right now I am playing a brunette Shepard and as I said, she seems to have a light spray of freckles across the bridge of her nose and it doesn’t look ridiculous to me at all. Freckles are common for red hair, but I have seen them on just about every color scheme. I went to school with a girl who was blond and had freckles everywhere. That argument makes no sense to me.

No you are not the only one who has noticed it. I know that a lot of redheads have freckles but #5 did not have freckles. When I saw that that I was like wtf silverman said we were voting on 5 but only changing the color. You lied to me Silverman. Oh well it is what it is.

Oh thanks. :)

And Didy, haha, both of those seem plausible, but I just don't see why the others didn't get any subtle changes. Again it's nothing I'll lose sleep over.. but Red hair... AND freckles? I'll go ahead and name her Ginger Shepard.. *Sighs at abundant facial freckles.*

I was assuming you were saying a lot of others just shrugged in gave up when they could have just shrugged and either accepted it as the right call or realized its not much to get obsessed over.

Here's the thing: Supposing red head Shep wins by a huge landslide, larger even than the original vote - say 50,000 votes in favor of Ginger Shep.

So what is your argument then?  That because the original poll was rigged in such a way that your taste for a blonde Shep won out, even though the majority didn't like the hair color, that your taste should prevail?  Is there some reason why your opinion matters more than the majority?  Should Bioware have just consulted you instead of having a vote at all?

Hence a lot of the redhead supporters referring to her affectionately as "Ginger Shep".

Kinda like how I refer to Blonde Shep as Blondie. Affectionate nickname based on appearances.

WE GOT LOST IN TRANSLATION. OH NOEZ! :P

Hahahaha, its cool. I'm just fighting the good fight for blondes. Being 1/1000th blonde myself.

I just feel like there's some other reason why we have a second poll.

Maybe its me being interested in Deus Ex that's doing this to me. All these CONSPIRACIES and that.

Add to that, R Truth talking about conspiracies on WWE Raw.

Now that I think about it, R Truth playing Deus Ex Human Revolution while referring to there being an Anti-Blonde Conspiracy here would make me LAWL hard.

Aaaaaand now I'm drifting off topic.
