And look even worse because the generic models are noticeably inferior to new canon models, a la DA2?SavesTheDay wrote...
Here's a thought, if you don't like the preset you could always make your own character.

Yes. Isn't this the same as the other two games? If you don't like the default look or any of the presets, you make one that do like, right?

Wow, that’s not what this is about, at all.Fata Morgana wrote...
You need to take a step back.
Right now you are feeling what a lot of people felt during the first poll: That it was rigged. That is, that the one thing that we haven't gotten in the first 2 games was good long hairstyles, and so if you only create one model to vote on with an attractive long hairstyle, then of course that one is going to win. It felt like Bioware was herding people in to voting for Blonde Shep, even if they wanted Shep to be a red head.
In my opinion, there's a long-standing view that FemShep is a red head; partly because of the original default preset, and partially because Jennifer Hale does a lot of voices for red heads (and is a redhead herself). So to make the one 'good' hair choice NOT be redhead was kind of offensive to some people.
Mind you, i am not one of those people: I wanted a short haired shep. But failing that, I did think that she should have been red head.
This second poll is actually MUCH MORE FAIR than the first one, because it acknowledges that people liked the hairstyle, and only the hairstyle, of the winning choice, and that given the chance they would vote for a redhead. Many people stated this at the time. This vote is basically going to prove it to be true.
You can't take a stance of having offense done to you, when this second vote is just fixing the unfairness of the first vote. You benefitted when the vote was unfair; now you're seeing what it's like to have a fair vote, and you feel betrayed. Well...
Had long-haired, short-haired, brunette, redhead or blonde won, I would’ve been happy. I really did like ALL the six options (to be completely honest, though I liked #4’s face I was not crazy about her hairstyle). It’s not about my vote winning or not, in the first or second polls.
A LOT of noise was made when #5 won, there’s not dispute in that. But for what reasons? That the overall look (longer hair etc) of #5 was best, but red hair would have been better – hey, I can completely understand that, it just can’t be argued with. It comes down to a taste thing and let the majority decide.
It’s how a lot of insults were made. Blonde bimbo, pornstar, etc – a lot of that noise was mostly that, and I can’t help but think it had its effect (and if I’ve felt offended it was this and ONLY this). It was NEVER stated that the first round would be hairstyle. Actually it was never stated that there would be multiple rounds. And suddenly a new poll comes to be. And just as suddenly all that hate and prejudice has magically disappeared? And It is JUST about giving a longer hairstyle for a redheaded Shepard who was the favorite all along? I find that hard to believe.

I like red head shep simply for history's sake. It reminds me more of normal Jane Shepard.

The question is, why you're upset that an unfair vote is not being upheld, why you want the unfairness to remain instead of being remedied (as is being done) with a second vote.
The answer to that is kind of obvious, though: it's because you liked blonde shep. Well, not everyone is going to get what they like. You'll have to accept that the majority doesn't agree with you.
And I agree that the people making horrible comments about blondes were pretty rotten. There's nothing wrong with being a blonde, and it doesn't make you dumb, or a bimbo. But those people weren't the only people who thought the first vote was unfair, they were just the most inflammatory.

No offense - but for someone who claims to stand for fairness so much - you make an awful lot of assumptions.

So the solution to realizing you did something unfair, is to do another unfair thing and yank back the results of the poll? Two wrongs don't make a right, in fact now they've compounded the issue and disinfranchised the 6,000+ (can't remember) people who actually voted for the winning look.
And before the reply is that they can vote for the blonde Shepard again, it's not as simple as that. Most people don't even know that there is another poll. I didn't until I signed in and saw this thread and went to facebook and saw that red hair is already ahead by 10,000 votes somehow. This is some thing they sprung without any announcement or buildup, and a good number of the people who voted for the original winner are entirely unaware that their vote no longer counts.
And for the record I didn't even vote for blonde shep in the original poll, I voted for #2. I just recognize bull**** when I see it, and that's exactly what this poll is.

Well thankfully, the results haven't been yanked back at all. No, instead they took the winning candidate, and only allowed anyone to vote on her, an no other options allowed. I mean, its not like they took the Natalie Portman Shep, the one that I liked, and added her to this second poll. That would be massively unfair. Good thing they didn't do anything like that!

What you just said makes no sense. There are 4 options. That means there are more options in the poll than 1. If they only allowed people to vote for the winning option, there would be 1 option, because 1 option won.
Think of it this way: Suppose we were voting on our favorite car, and the winning car was the Volkswagon bug. Then whoever did the poll did a secondary poll, with four volkswagon bugs in four different colors. Therefore, the only thing you can vote on in the second poll is the winner from the first poll.
Saying that the results were 'thrown out' is melodramatic and downright silly.

Lots of voters missing. I assume they're unaware of a second poll, or some just choose not to participate.
*shrugs*
That or they're in Deus Ex Human Revolution mode.

It was announced at Gamescon and was on Bioware pulse like the first announcement, they also tweeted about it.
Tbh, I thought BlondeShep had won and that was it till I saw the second round. *sigh*
